Breakfast room good
Dinner at La Vasco good, although we were not told even after visiting reception that it did not open till 7.00 pm so walked over to find it was shut and you could not get a pre drink as the doors were locked and it was pretty cold standing outside.
Reception did not tell us on arrival where any of the facilities were or a tour of the hotel which is quite large, had to keep asking for directions as to where everything was. Our room was booked a few months ago but we were then allocated a disabled room which was not really suitable for us, and not told by reception that was the case. our bathroom was an open shower so water was everywhere as the drain did not empty quick enough and even the next morning the water had not drained away, and we were paddling in water to get to the sink and toilet, not good if you have to get up in the middle of the night. plus the bed was pretty low!. Asked reception as to why we had a disabled room and were told they had two large groups in hotel who were noisy and this was the quiet area for other guests. This did spoil our stay somewhat. there was also a problem with WiFi which was not working for around 7 hours when we got there.
Beautiful setting and convenient for travel to UK
Not very welcoming, arrived before room was ready so ushered to a lounge….no offer of something to drink etc
Room needed attention to details, 2 lights not functioning, carpet looked extremely spotty
Antiquated interior and exterior charm.
Poor/Rude attitude of staff.
On arrival room not ready/handled very badly by the staff
No tea/coffee facilities in room.
Poor selection / quality and presentation of of breakfast
Restaurant standard NOT 4 star / decor , ambience poor. Many main course options not available.
Inadequate air on in room
We loved the building and the grandeur
It was all very good
Außergewöhnliches Gebäude, tolle Zimmer
Lange Wartezeit an der Rezeption, obwohl nicht viel los war.
Getränkebestellung schien eher nervig zu sein
This hotel is beautiful in so many ways architecture style history and value for money,….the only downside was it was lacking in atmosphere the lighting could of been better in the beautiful bar area and as guests were having evening drinks maybe a little background music!!!….but all in all a beautiful place.
What I didn’t like was the receptionist on arrival stating that she only spoke French not English and was quite rude the fact that staying in the hotel is manly brits I found this had to believe you wouldn’t have an English speaking front of house ,…the English couple who checked in after us said the same she was rude to them regarding language,so not good for first impression!
Homely , very comfortable , bedroom was excellent.
The bar seemed to be a problem - getting a drink
Beautiful setting and good location
Staff inefficient- we were first given a room that was already occupied. The bar area full of dirty glasses - understaffed? Principal restaurant (Robert II) was closed and no coherent explanation was given as to why. Food in Le Vasco was poor - our risotto was barely lukewarm and cheese platter came straight from fridge. Breakfast was mediocre with no staff to be found to refill coffee machine.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. We arrived early hoping to have a a drink in a the bar we saw on the photos only to find that was closed. They advertise 2 restaurants but only one was open.
We were looking forward to a good breakfast as we settled for a snack from the local town for dinner as the one restaurant that was open the menu was limited and expensive. The breakfast was also disappointing we just walked out and left. We didn't even bother to have a cup of Tea or Coffee.
Setting, ambience, restaurant.
Bed too firm.
Needs more staff on.
Our room was comfortable and the bathroom excellent. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room was elegant. It was nice to have good crockery and cutlery to use.
The bar did not have a very good range of beers or whisky.
The room was gorgeous in a French style. Very spacious
Location and buildings
The evening receptionist was rude and unwelcoming
15 th century old château , well very old. Extensive grounds. ,fantastic for our dog Ruby, Large classical Rooms. Free Super fast Broadband . Ok Restaurant on site ,
Good location just of Auto route and 50 mins from Port of Calais.
Signage. For hotel could be better , drove straight past Hotel. Look for Distillery sign !! Billing could be better , unsure whether paid or not ?
Beautiful place and comfortable room. Dinner in La Distillerie was exceptional
Staff a little bit invisible and it was hard to find someone to help with our luggage. In particular getting a drink at the bar was rather difficult.
