Hôtel du Grand Lac Excelsior

Had deluxe kamer geboekt met gerenoveerde badkamer. Badkamer niet gerenoveerd. Armtierig. Zelfs geen douchestang om je onder te douchen. Kon enkel in de hand. Direct bij receptie geweest maar buiten een vriendelijke lach geen oplossing. Airco buitenunit op het kleine terras waardoor je onmogelijk met 2 kunt zitten want de warme uitgaande lucht blaast op je. Geen koffiefaciliteiten op kamer. Kamers zijn gedateerd. Hotel heeft echt nood aan heel grondige renovatie. Mij lijkt het slexhts 3 sterren. Beetje vergane glorie

Die Ausstattung in der Toilette war nicht überwältigend. Es gab einfach die Basics aber keine besonderen Shampoos oder kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten. Das Zimmer war sauber, aber auch in die Jahre gekommen. Zum Teil gab es Probleme mit dem Fernsehsignal. Der Aussenplatz wurde nicht oder schon länger nicht mehr gepflegt, was sehr schade ist.

La persona encargada del restaurante parecía un tanto irrespetuoso, haciendo bromas en lugar de ocuparse de atender amablemente los servicios requeridos.

Whilst the staff were unfailingly helpful and did everything they could to make my stay more comfortable,including allowing me access to an alternative room well before the official 3.00 pm check-in time,their excellent service simply could not compensate for the condition of the hotel itself.
The room I had originally booked was not available. I fully appreciate that I had arrived early, and the reception team genuinely did their best to accommodate me. However, the replacement "suite" was disappointing. Although it had a terrace, any view of Lake Geneva was completely obscured by an enormous tree. Inside, the accommodation was very basic. The living room contained a single bed rather than a sofa, leaving it feeling more like an additional bedroom than a suite. Whilst the room was clean, it was dated, uninspiring and lacked any sense of comfort or warmth.
To their credit, the staff immediately arranged a second replacement room.
The property itself feels extremely tired and appears not to have undergone any meaningful refurbishment for many years. Access to the swimming pool is particularly odd, requiring guests to walk through long, dimly lit corridors and past the Biotonus rehabilitation facilities. It feels less like walking to a hotel leisure area and more like heading to a physiotherapy appointment.
The outdoor spaces were equally disappointing. Whilst waiting for the replacement room, I spent an hour in the garden. The bench beside me was covered in bird droppings, and the area generally felt neglected. The so-called "Jolie Terrace" was anything but: cheap plastic loungers and chairs, uneven paving slabs and an overall lack of care created an atmosphere that was far from relaxing. Ultimately, despite the kindness and professionalism of the staff, the hotel itself fell well below expectations so I decided to leave and find alternative accommodation.

Die eine oder andere Renovation sollte schrittweise vorgenommen werden.

My mattress had mould (it was sinking in the middle so I wanted to turn it around and was sorry I looked ) Definitely need new mattresses!
They only had a soap/shampoo one for all, no body cream or any of the things you would expect in a 4 star. They did have sewing kit, shoe shiner etc, slippers . We found a bunch of cobwebs (not a big deal but I didn’t like them) only 3 coffee pods and one creamer for the stay …
