L' hôtel est entouré d' un jardin paradisiaque. Il y a de tout pour être heureux. Des piscines, des fleurs , un SPA formidable, des bars, des restaurans. Bien sûr il faut en avoir les moyens, mais pas une seconde je n' ai regretté l' argent dépensé. On peut rejoindre le centre ville en bus

We spent 8 nights at this resort while exploring the magnificent Madeira island, and overall it was a very good stay.


The grounds are beautifully maintained: lush gardens, tropical flowers, mature trees, and multiple outdoor pools, plus an indoor pool. Despite the resort being quite large, management has done a commendable job ensuring it never feels overwhelming or impersonal.


Breakfast was very good, the dining area is spacious, well-organized, and the variety of food was impressive with no long lines even during busy mornings. Our room was generously sized and thoughtfully arranged for an extended stay.


The location is ideal: numerous restaurants within walking distance, and Madeira's sightseeing attractions easily accessible in every direction.


One personal note: if you prefer intimate boutique hotels, the scale of this resort may not be for everyone. That said, the staff and management clearly work hard to deliver a warm and well-run experience regardless of size.

Excelente pequeno-almoço com grande variedade e qualidade, servido no jardim. Adorámos o jardim, muito bem cuidado. Piscinas interior e exterior muito limpas assim como todo o espaço envolvente. Quartos grandes com varanda muito agradável. Vários restaurantes e bar com música ao vivo. Gostámos muito. Tiveram a gentileza de deixar uma garrafa de champanhe no quarto porque repararam que era aniversário.

Très bel hôtel très bien équipé, vue magnifique et bonne qualité de service.

We had a lovely break at Porto Mare. We stayed in the Residence. We booked an inland view room but we had a panoramic sea view also overlooking a little park. We had a kitchenette with fridge, double hob, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and kettle and plenty of crockery/pots/cutlery etc. There was a bottle of water provided on arrival as well as tea/coffee. The bathroom had full size Ritual toiletries provided, as well as bathrobes, slippers, beach towels, tote bag and little extras like a sewing kit, razor and toothbrush.
We had breakfast included which was buffet style and of a very high quality with plenty of choice, and we ate at the pool bar once which was very tasty. Other than that, we used the local restaurants or cooked in our room. There’s a Pingo Doce supermarket next to the hotel (open till 10pm) and several Spar shops around the resort.
The hotel has two heated indoor pools, one of which has an outdoor section which we found very tranquil and used a lot. There’s also a large outside pool with plenty of sunbeds. The gardens are lovely and the orchid garden is a good place for lizard spotting if that’s your thing.
Immediately outside the main hotel entrance is a Yellow Bus Tour shop where you can buy various tickets for the open top bus and there are other tour shops dotted around. The hotel has a few restaurants and there are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance (Madeira is very hilly which could be tricky if you’re less mobile).
If you want to get to the front of the hotel from the Residence without walking up a steep hill, head for the reception in the Porto Mare section and exit that way, and vice versa to get to the seafront without going down a steep hill, follow signs for the Residence and exit at that reception.

We had a lovely time staying with you and exploring Funchal and Madeira. The hotel was excellent in all aspects and the gardens are amazing. The room exceeded our expectations and the food choice nd quality was superb. We will return!

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in the Porto Mare hotel on half board in a superior sea view room. The gardens are beautiful and the food was excellent with plenty of choice for everyone. The restaurant staff were friendly and very attentive. The room was always very efficiently cleaned early in the day. We will definitely make this our hotel of choice when visiting Madeira and plan to return later this year.

Das Hotel liegt in der Region Lido in Funchal - ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums, dieses ist aber mit Auto (oder Bus) gut zu erreichen. Es ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um die Insel zu entdecken. Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich, das Zimmer sehr sauber und grosszügig. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat alles was man braucht. Das Hotel hat eine grosszügige Garten- und Poolanlage. Wir können uns gut vorstellen, das Hotel wieder zu buchen.

Our favourite hotel in Funchal. We have stayed here several times and doesn’t disappoint.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the restaurants/ food are first class. It is within walkable distance to Funchal town centre and buses and taxis are also plentiful & reasonable.
This year we visited when the flower festival was being prepared and the hotel reception area was beautifully decorated with an enormous tower of flowers.
