We live in Key West and regularly enjoy the music, wine bar, and community activities at The Gardens. We recomemd it to visiting friends, who love the rooms. This beautiful classic Key West Old Town mansion shares its space with musicians, the arts, civic activism, and many non-profit beneficiaries. An intimate venue for jazz and wine with local friends mixed with the eclectic guests is one of our great pleasures in living here.
Romantic, beautiful, quiet, darling. It was just a gem.
I would have liked the wine parlor to be open just a bit later- but then, it probably wouldn’t be as quiet 😏
Only a block and a half off of the middle of Doval, this is a great place to stay! Everything here is first class, from the rooms to housekeeping to the included breakfast. The gardens are fantastic. They even have tortoises!
We stayed four nights in mid-May. Our Courtyard room on the upper level was clean, spacious, and well furnished. Very comfortable king bed. The balcony was a great place to sit and listen to live music on several of the evenings. Or to just enjoy the beautiful seclusion as the extensive trees and garden give the hotel a real sense of privacy in Old Town Key West. And to enjoy a glass of wine from the extensive selection offered by the D’Vine Wine Gallery.
We parked our rental car in the hotel’s small, on-site lot upon arrival and it didn’t move again until we departed. Well worth $30 per night. And the central location allowed us (at 72 and 70, each with a knee replacement) to easily walk everywhere.
Breakfasts were excellent. And special kudus to Annette – she was a non-stop dynamo single-handedly serving all the tables with efficiency. And very pleasant to talk with when a break in the flow of guests gave her a moment.
Definitely a place we would stay again.
The Gardens hotel is a very nice place to stay with a great staff, grounds and a great location. Breakfast was delicious.
My only complaint was not having tv service. The only way I could find to watch any major network was to stream my own although I couldn’t get my own service due to not being on my home network. I liked the boutique feel but also wanted to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs after walking Duvall Street.
Amazing hotel , excellent room and amenities.
Staff was awesome!
Breakfast, bar and pool a nice surprise too!
Our stay at The Gardens Hotel was absolutely phenomenal, never want to stay anywhere else for future Key West trips!
Our room was lovely, we had the Master Suite and it was spectacular. We loved the balcony overlooking the pool, we could enjoy the live music, it was great. The bathroom was luxurious and very spacious.
The pool itself was lovely - extra special shout out to our favorite bartender, Annette, she took great care of us and was overall a hoot to be around.
The location was wonderful, close to everything, yet you feel removed and in your own private, secluded garden.
The grounds were immaculate, hotel staff superb, I can’t say enough great things about this hotel! Deserves a 100/10!
P.S. Can also vouch for it being an LGBTQ+ inclusive space, my fiancé & I were nothing but comfortable here! ❤️🏳️🌈
Our stay at The Gardens Hotel in Key West over Memorial Day weekend was absolutely incredible from start to finish. From the moment we arrived and were greeted with sparkling wine, we knew we were somewhere special.
Judith at reception was beyond friendly and welcoming. She gave us a full tour of the gorgeous property and personally escorted us to our room, which made the experience feel so personal and luxurious.
The hotel itself is truly an oasis right off Duval Street — lush, tropical, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. Despite being steps away from all the action, it was unbelievably quiet and relaxing. Our room and the grounds were stunning, and the self-serve wine room was such a unique and amazing touch.
We also loved the complimentary breakfast each morning, which made the stay feel even more special. Feeding the onsite tortoises was such a fun and memorable experience, and the live music every night created the perfect atmosphere.
A huge shoutout to Phil at the bar — he was incredibly friendly and made fantastic drinks all weekend long. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we decided to stay an extra night, and the staff was wonderfully accommodating in making that happen.
And of course, we can’t forget Lucy, the adorable onsite cat, who completely stole our hearts. The pool was also perfection — the ideal temperature for relaxing after a day exploring Key West.
This was hands down one of the most relaxing, charming, and memorable hotel stays we’ve ever had. We already can’t wait to come back to The Gardens Hotel!
We have been staying at The Gardens for several years. This hotel never disappoints. It is clean, has beautiful rooms and gardens (as you would expect from the name), and is ideally located. Though just a couple of blocks from Duval St, its serenity makes you feel like you are miles from all that action. This trip we brought friends who have never stayed there, and they loved it, too. Loved walking around the garden and finding the eclectic artwork and saying hi to the tortoises. There was one event that was unexpected this trip. We were used to there being a pianist nightly, which sitting around the pool while sipping drinks from the bar and listening to live music is always a delightful experience, this trip one night there was a singer-guitar duo that played great music and had funny stories and songs. It was a nice surprise.
The hotel is a block off duval street somehow you feel like you're in your own little oasis. Rooms were great and AC was insanely good. Loved the amenities and honestly spent most of our time in the pool enjoying cocktails prepared by Phil.
Also definitely wake up before 10:30 for breakfast in the garden and a chat with Annette.
Can't express how relaxed we were at the Gardens hotel between chaotic sessions on Duval street.
Amazing hotel. Wonderful staff, great location. Highly recommended
My husband & I just returned from staying 10 days at The Gardens Hotel. . We fell in love with the island 27 years ago but the The Gardens Hotel is what has brought us back for 27 straight yrs. We have been lucky & blessed to be able to travel & its the most beautiful hotel & gardens we have ever stayed at.
Kate, the kind & gracious owner who always has time for you has managed to keep Old World European charm at The Gardens which is set in a tropical oasis in the heart of Old Town right around the corner of busy Duval Street.
Nancy & Rhoda are there when you check-in & you are warmly greeted at the front desk with a glass of prosecco & a big hug. Forget the jet lag & expect to be pampered. Thank You.
Peggy takes good care of the people in the wine room.& George is always kind & helpful.
Now the hotel: There are shady enchanting meandering paths that lead to tortoises, fish, Lucy the hotel kitty that everyone pets & loves & the gorgeous pool & pool bar . Phil the bartender serves up the meanest margaritas on the island. All of this is surrounded by fragrant flowers & palm trees & is just the beginning of what makes it so special.
A delicious breakfast is served each morning by the pool by Annette who took good care of us. The breakfast menu rotates daily & the chef is superb.
Jim, the The Gardens Hotel Mgr., makes sure that everything runs smooth as silk. The hotel is spotless with a king bed & linens as comfortable as a cloud.
There is jazz nite on Sunday nites 5:00 - 7:00 PM . Other nites there is piano music in the conservatory. Enjoy the music by the pool or on your balcony.
The Gardens Hotel is 5 star perfect & is simply as good as it gets but its the owner Kate & all the wonderful people that work there that make a place so special that you want to continue to come back year after year .
They are called family.
Excellent location close to Duval Street, but far enough away to avoid any disturbance.
Atmospheric hotel in the colonial style.
The room was nicely decorated and clean. The ironing board needs replacing.
The value for money is good.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was high-quality and tasty.
Bar available, water and ice freely available, wine bar with a card system (good wines available).
Live music every evening from 5 to 7 PM.
Beautiful garden and swimming pool.
Twice there was an event with invited guests (Darby, Jazz singer). The sun loungers around the pool were removed for this purpose. As a result, that facility was no longer available. Hotel guests were allowed to participate in the event, but there were no reserved seats for them, making hotel guests feel like they don't count. A pity, because invited guests sometimes left their reserved seats before the end of the event. This is a point to consider for the future.
We were return visitors to The Gardens and our stay was better than before. The grounds are beautiful and a lovely retreat from the bustle on Duval even though it’s only steps away. The best thing about The Gardens is the staff, they greet you like you’re part of the family and everyone is warm and friendly.
Wonderful stay at the Gardens Hotel last month! Comfortable room, lovely gardens and pool, full breakfast served on the patio, live music from 5-7pm, and a great location for walking to restaurants and historic sites in Old Town. We particularly enjoyed our balcony, engaging service by Annette, and wonderful selections by pianist Paul Warthen.
This place is amazing!! Hosts are great, rooms are great…. Landscape is beautiful and lush… Annette makes the breakfast so fun! We looked forward to visiting with her every morning!! A delight and very funny!!! We would love to go back for a very relaxing experience!!
Delightful classical guitar by Craig Hauser and the exceptional bartending by Annette… the best Old Fashion in Key West!!! Don’t miss this hidden gem!!
Absolutely gorgeous grounds! Great classic vibes. If you love tropical landscape and animals, this is your spot. Giant tortoises, 2 koi pond very numerous waterfalls. Some nice birds, pet and wild. Lucy the cat is adorable and friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They will even take you at turtle feeding time and bring you along. The owner Kate was very welcoming and a great conversation. Very clean everything. Mattress was the best I've ever had in a hotel! Sheets and towels were soft clean and fresh. Great air conditioner and TV. Room smelled great and floor and Furniture very clean. Furniture was lovely. Wine bar is a great touch. Wonderful live piano. Breakfast looked great but I am up and out of the room very early and back in the evening so I missed that unfortunately. If you are taking the key West Express and are worried about what to do with luggage before check in, no worries. They will let you bring your luggage early and leave it until your room is ready. Also you can use Paradise Porters service to do that for you. Snacks in the lobby and coffee, tea, wine. Housekeeping was good and also flexible if need be. The balcony's are so great. Chairs, table, nice cigar ashtray for smokers. Fans always going and a nice cool natural breeze. If you are a non-smoker, no worries no smoke lingers with all the island breeze and fans. I did not even notice the smokers enjoying and island cigar, it is Key West after all! Obviously I cannot say enough great things, truly my best hotel experience ever. Worth every penny. I stayed 3 nights but next time it will be a week! Thank you Kate & Crew.
Great staff. Beautiful grounds. Great room. We loved it so much we are going back this weekend. That’s 2 weekends in a row.
