It was a little way out of town but we liked the quieter surrounds. Great spa/pool area
Pretty hanging baskets and buildings. It was aging a little.
Expensive for the location. No restaurant or cafe facilities. Courtesy passes for the local bus got you into town and back up the big hill but not quite to the hotel.
Loved how it looked and was out of town and the views
It seemed like it could be a bit cleaner
The transport to get into town
The location, the pool and hot tub were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were fairly comfortable, and it was a quiet area which helped with sleeping.
The rooms were incredibly hot because they only had fans and not air conditioning, the rooms needed a good deep clean, update of simple things like toaster and more utensils and there was limited parking.
We loved our stay at hidden ridge resort. My partner proposed to me in front of the open fire and it will also hold a special place in our hearts 💕
Room was hot, when we got to the room it was dirty, food from the prior renters, dirty towels behind the door. The hotel did give me 25% off one night, but it wasn't about the money, more about the quality and cleanliness of the room overall.
The hot tub and pool was a beautiful area, but overall not clean at all. It was actually kind of creepy gross dirty. Unfortunate, becuase the upkeep of the resort would make all the difference.
The location and the pools.
It was really hot. No air conditioning.
There are definitely positives. The grounds are beautiful with lovely flowers and plenty of walking paths. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were enjoyable. The suite included a microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher, cutlery, dinnerware, an older but functional coffee maker, and free Wi-Fi. Complimentary firewood was a nice touch, and there are multiple Weber BBQs (around six spread throughout the property), making it easier to find one available. We also appreciated the complimentary Banff transit passes, the heated underground parking, accessible outdoor parking, and plenty of towels already stocked in the room.
The biggest disappointment was the room we originally received. We had expected a two-storey suite based on the photos, but it turns out we had actually booked one of the single-level suites with both beds in the same room. That’s on us, but honestly, I still find it hard to justify paying around $1,800 for that type of room for two nights. It felt very bare-bones for the price.
The front desk did offer us an upgrade for an additional $70 (discounted from $100), and we decided to take it. The two-storey suite was significantly better and much more in line with what we expected from a Banff resort. If you’re considering staying here, I’d definitely recommend booking one of the loft-style units if your budget allows.
The resort itself is still quite dated and could really use some renovations. While the lighting in our upgraded suite was much better and made the space feel warmer and more inviting, there are still obvious signs of age like the loose faucets, aging tile walls and bathroom finishes, tiny older TVs, and other small maintenance issues. There is also no air conditioning, so the room became hot and stuffy. You’ll likely need to keep the windows open and use the circulating fans they provide. Also, bring your own bottled water, as there are no complimentary bottles.
Although the suite has a kitchen, it isn’t stocked with everything you’d expect. We found ourselves having to call the front desk for basic kitchen essentials. Unfortunately, whenever we called, we were repeatedly told to “call back later,” and when items were finally available, they took quite a while to be delivered. It made cooking much less convenient than it should have been. On top of that, there isn’t even an option for breakfast in the resort. Considering the premium nightly rates, I expected at least some sort of continental breakfast or light morning offering. For what you’re paying, having no breakfast at all feels like another missed opportunity to provide better value.
Pool is amazing and view is pretty good.
Room was pretty dirty, if you wear socks inside, they wont be white for long. Also had a weird scent. They ran out of towels on a Wednesday night, considering towels aren’t expensive and how much this place costs per night, it was a little disappointing.
