Cleanliness
8.5
Generally praised as 'makellos' and 'impressionnant' in several reviews (rooms, restaurants, public areas). One review reported poor room cleaning, so score reflects overall strong cleanliness with some inconsistency.
Service
9
Multiple comments highlight very friendly, professional and attentive staff (reception specifically praised, named staff Omar, Sofiene and Madame Chadha). Score reflects consistently strong, welcoming service.
Location
9.2
Repeatedly described as excellent with a beautiful, well-kept beach and stunning views; several guests singled out the beachfront as a major positive.
Room Quality
7.8
Rooms are generally fine, but there is a notable issue reported with air conditioning not working in some rooms despite technician visits, reducing the room-quality score.
Amenities
8.6
Spa described as 'magnifique' and animation praised by some; overall good amenities though a few guests asked for improvements in animation/programming.
Value for Money
8.7
At least one review explicitly calls it very good value; overall sentiment indicates guests feel the offering matches price, supporting a strong score.
Food and Beverage
8.2
Food is frequently described as excellent, varied and high quality, though a few guests found it average or suggested additions (e.g., more ice-cream), so score is positive but slightly tempered.
Overall Experience
8.8
Many rave reviews (one '10/10' and strong family recommendations) citing excellent service, cleanliness, beach and food; some negatives (AC, inconsistent room cleaning, animation/food suggestions) moderate the overall score.

A lovely hotel
Pros:

I have been coming to Bel Azur Thalasso & Bungalows for years, and it has always been a place I really enjoy returning to. This year was another lovely stay, and there are so many things that made our holiday enjoyable.

The hotel and our room were generally clean and well looked after. However, there were a couple of things in our room that I think could be improved. I struggled to fully close the curtains, which was a little inconvenient. I also found that the bathroom was starting to look quite outdated this year, with things such as the pink wall tiles and shower curtain. The shower itself was also quite difficult to use as the water sprayed in several directions rather than staying in one place. These are only small things, but updating some of the bathrooms and facilities would definitely make the rooms feel even better.

The food was enjoyable, and I would especially like to give a shout-out to the chef in charge of the pasta. One member of my family is vegetarian, and he was incredibly helpful and made us fresh pasta every day, which we really appreciated. The waiters in the first section of the restaurant during dinner were also amazing, especially Mohammed and Hani, who were always friendly and helpful. For a couple of days, we were also able to have Boga Cidre, which was a delicious Tunisian drink. I really enjoyed it and would love to see it available every day!

The entertainment team definitely deserves a special mention. There are lots of members of the entertainment team, but especially Momo, Simon and Pauline, who work extremely hard throughout the day and put so much effort into the poolside activities, including Zumba, yoga, dance classes, aqua gym and much more. They brought so much energy to the hotel and genuinely made our stay 10 times better. They were definitely some of the highlights of our holiday.

The poolside snacks, pizza and pancakes, were delicious. However, I think it would be a great addition to have ice cream or another snack available throughout the day for both children and adults to enjoy. At the moment, the pancakes and pizza are only available for around two hours, from 3–5pm, so having another option available at other times would be a lovely improvement.

I would also like to give a big shout-out to the lifeguards Abdullah and Dali, who were both amazing and always attentive around the pool. I would also like to mention Saber at reception, who was very helpful and friendly during our stay. Their kindness and hard work really added to our experience.

I really enjoyed all of the evening shows, but I find them 10 times better when the entertainment team put them on themselves rather than bringing in outside performers. I love seeing the same entertainers who have been doing the activities throughout the day performing in the evening too. Their shows feel more personal, fun and are definitely a highlight of the stay.

Overall, we had another great stay at Bel Azur and I would definitely recommend it. There are a few areas that could benefit from updating, but the friendly staff, fantastic entertainment and enjoyable food made our holiday a really memorable one. I have been coming for years and look forward to returning again!

Good hotel but improvements must be made
Pros:

My family and I have been visiting this hotel for the past 20 years, largely because of its perfect location in Hammamet and the generally welcoming and respectful staff. It has always held a special place for us, which is why it is disappointing to see certain aspects of the hotel decline over the years.

I would first like to highlight the excellent service we received from several members of staff. At reception, Saber and Amel were extremely helpful and attentive to all of my needs. The cleaners also do an amazing job of ensuring that the rooms are kept clean.

One recurring issue is the cashpoint located outside the hotel. Although I understand that the cash machine may not be directly managed by the hotel, it is located on the hotel property, so I believe something should be done to address the situation. The machine is frequently out of cash, and this has been a recurring problem for several years. Furthermore, it sometimes holds customers' cards for several minutes, creating understandable concern that the card may have been retained or that something has gone wrong.

Over the past few years, the rooms have also started to feel increasingly tired and in need of refurbishment. The bathrooms are particularly disappointing. Grouting is coming away in chunks, the showers spray water in every direction except where they are supposed to, and the lighting is often too weak to properly illuminate either the toilet or shower area, depending on the layout of the room. The air conditioning has also become unreliable, often only working properly when set to full blast, while some of the vents are becoming loose. These issues need to be addressed if the hotel is to maintain a four-star standard.

The food has seen some improvements this year. Breakfast was noticeably better, with fresher pastries, a wider selection of fresh juices, and delicious Tunisian sweets. Dinner was decent; however, there was very little variety, which made the food feel repetitive during a longer stay. The Tunisian night was by far the best, offering more traditional and flavourful dishes such as molokhia, kemounia and brik. The pasta chefs were also extremely accommodating and prepared delicious vegetarian pasta, which was particularly appreciated as the restaurant generally lacks sufficient vegetarian options.

The service in the restaurant was excellent. We regularly sat in the section served by Mohammed and Hani, who treated us with the utmost kindness and always ensured that we had everything we needed. Senior members of staff also seemed much more helpful this year, which was a positive improvement.

The lifeguards were also fantastic, especially Dali and Abdullah. They were very friendly, attentive and regularly checked on us to ensure that we were safe and enjoying our time.

Overall, the daytime entertainment activities have improved this year. Simon was by far one of the most interactive members of the entertainment team. He consistently made guests laugh and always went above and beyond to involve people in the activities.

However, the evening entertainment often struggled to maintain the audience's interest, with crowds frequently leaving before the end of the shows. It would be great to see the animators perform more of their own shows. For example, the dancing in the Bollywood show was amazing, but the lengthy period of acting at the beginning caused many guests to lose interest.

It would also be nice to see more hotel dances in the evenings, as these appear to be enjoyed by many guests. It is a shame that the hotel dance “Hella Decale” has gradually disappeared and been replaced by “Jerusalema”, which has become repetitive due to being played multiple times throughout the day. When “Hella Decale” was used as the main club dance a few years ago, it attracted a much larger crowd to the dance floor because of its more uplifting atmosphere.

Finally, I feel that having all members of the entertainment team take their day off on a Monday is the wrong approach. Considering that the hotel advertises itself as having an entertainment team, having no activities at all on one day of the week can leave a poor impression, particularly for guests who have only just arrived.

Ultimately, although I enjoyed my stay and still have a great deal of affection for this hotel after visiting for so many years, there are many improvements that need to be made. The hotel has enormous potential, and the staff remain one of its greatest strengths. However, significant work is needed, particularly regarding the condition of the rooms, food variety, and certain aspects of the entertainment programme, in order to maintain the standards expected of a four-star hotel and ensure that guests feel the experience is worth the price being charged.

Pros:
