Lovely hotel. Very quiet and relaxing. Lots of private sunbathing areas, 3 pools. Very clean and tidy. Staff wash all the outside paving every morning. Good choice of food, fresh every day. Tried both Tunisian and Italian restaurant, very good, huge portions. (Although service a little rushed). All staff are helpful and friendly. Small tips get you excellent service. If you want noise, activities, kids club etc stay next door at Bel Azul (3 star). Worth paying the extra for 5 star at Royal Azul if you want a bit more luxury all round and to chill. The indoor pool and thermal spa is wonderful (pay extra). Had 2 treatments which were well worth the money. Drinks not brilliant, wine barely palatable, poor cocktails but ok for the price. You can pay extra for branded drinks. Main criticism no early check in. Arrived at hotel 10.30 and check in 2.30. Had to hang about in high heat. Recommend pack your swim stuff and sun cream on top of suitcase and change in the loo. My single room (sea view) had 3 massive wardrobes. My sister and partner had a garden room only had 1 small wardrobe so had to keep most of their clothes in their suitcase all week.
Would recommend if you’re happy to put up with arrears of criticism. I would return.
Our stay in May 2026 at the Royal Azur Thalasso Hammamet was simply perfect — a true 10/10 experience in every aspect.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the reception team. A special thanks goes to Hana and Chokri, whose professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made a remarkable difference. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful suite with a stunning ocean view. This thoughtful gesture truly set the tone for our entire stay.
The hotel itself is exceptional: elegant, clean, and perfectly located. The atmosphere is both relaxing and refined, making it an ideal destination for a peaceful getaway.
A highlight of our experience was the spa. The quality of care and professionalism there were outstanding. We would like to sincerely thank Islam and Rawdha, the kinesitherapists, for their excellent work. Their expertise, dedication, and personalized approach made the treatments incredibly beneficial and enjoyable.
Everything — from the service to the facilities — exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

So first of all, the hotel is 5 stars but I think everyone knows that's unlikely to measure up to some other European countries version of 5 stars...but forget that because from the moment you walk through the doors you are made extremely welcome by all the reception staff who literally can't do enough for you (but without being over the top)
The reception and bar area is beautiful and the outside pool areas are absolutely stunning,they are constantly cleaned and would put many other 5 star hotels to shame, the pool toilets are immaculate all day
Where it doesn't quiet measure up is some of the rooms, which feel a bit old fashioned (not dated, just old fashioned) they lack some wardrobe space and are a bit quirky, but again exceptionally maintained
The food is buffet style but really very good, a lot of it isn't labeled so something to consider if you have allergies..although I understand if you inform the hotel of this they will look after and cater for you..just something to consider
Regards tipping, you really don't have to but we did, the odd 5 (£1) or 10 (£2) Dinar really does go along way, but it isn't expected and the staff don't linger for it...but if you do tip every now and again at the bar and certainly at dinner you will feel a difference ...but please don't feel you have to do it constantly because you don't
Entertainment was very low key at night...if you want more action on an evening pop to the sister hotel next door who have cabaret etc on apparatntly
Regards the location, I didn't go out too much but felt completely safe when I did and there were no issues, it's worth wrapping something around your wrist so you don't get constantly approach by something claiming to work at your hotel, but even if you do, they aren't pushy, just smile say no and keep walking
The shops directly outside the hotel are very chilled and much cheaper than the onsite shop so walk over there and give your locals the money
I'm not sure I can think of anywhere you will get better value for money than Tunisia and specifically this hotel
Thank you Royal Azur Hotel for a wonderful stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, the service was excellent, and the complimentary room upgrade was a very kind gesture that truly made my stay even better.
My only comments are that the mosquito issue around the outdoor breakfast and dinner areas needs attention, and the air conditioning in one of the rooms in our suite was not working properly. Unfortunately, we had to contact reception almost every night to have it fixed.

Housekeeping and restaurant staff were lovely and professional. Hotel and amenities were clean and well maintained, breakfast was delicious and varied, including local delicacies.
The reception staff were pretty unprofessional. They took us to the wrong room by accident which was ok, mistakes happen. When we got there, we explained it was not the room we booked and the team member who took us there left without saying how we could fix the issue. So we stood at the door to the room unsure what to do. After 10 mins or so we decided to go back to reception, realising no one was coming to take us to our room. When we got back I explained the the guy at reception (I think a manager) that we had been assigned the wrong room and he claimed the room he'd given us was the same. It was categorically not the same - the one he brought us to was priced 200gbp lower and did not have beach access with sun loungers, which is what we booked. Instead of apologising and letting me show him the difference on booking.com he insisted they were the same and that we were being fussy. It wasn't until I became firmer that he allowed me to show him the phone where the two rooms were clearly categorised and priced differently. He apologised and assigned us the correct room but it was unnecessarily stressful, being gaslit and not listened to like that. To add insult to injury, he smiled and asked us to leave a positive review as we left. Also our room could have been cleaner, the a/c unit smelt bad and the bathroom is badly designed

This place was fantastic from the minute we walked in the staff where so friendly and helpful a guy called chokri the receptionnist and a waiter called arbi are the best most hard working staff ive ever met! I went with the other half for 5 days and cannot fault the place food was great lots of options I am a fussy eater and didn't have a problem putting something together for every meal. The staff are truly amazing they could not do enough for us. It was my birthday and they spared no effort In making it so special from a big bunch of roses flowers decorating the table with so much attention to detail. Room was beautiful cleaned everyday with bathrobes and slippers. Would have no hesitation In going back.
