Not up to expected standard of previous village stays
Pros:

Great location, food was nice. Darts activity was a nice touch after a hard day at work

Cons:

No air-con big disappointment when a colleague paid same as me and her room was much bigger and had great air con. No duvet cover just a sheet . No iron in the room very frustrating but had an iron board ? Body wash not re filled near empty. Paid extra for club room but as I arrived at 8pm (due to traffic) pool closed at 9 leaving me no time to use facilities as food also finished at 9pm ! Spent money on facilities I couldn’t use no offer to reimburse . Room had exercise mat and ball but room was a small space so couldn’t use them

Good base for us whilst in Kent, friendly staff and good sized rooms with comfortable beds
Pros:

Good sized room, bed was really comfy. Good location just off the M20. We were in Kent for a festival and it served as a really good base - we are booked again for next year, despite the niggles I've outlined in the "What didn't you like" bit. Staff were friendly and helpful. I've stayed in Village Hotels before and this was similar to others I've visited in terms of style, decor and offering.

Cons:

Room could do with overhead lighting, it was very dark with just side lamps in the main area and the only overhead lighting in the hallway bit.
Shower didn't have much pressure so took ages to wash/ rinse my hair.
Rooms don't get a visit from housekeeping unless you specifically ask for it - which we didn't find out until we were leaving - you should be told this on check in (this hasn't been an issue on previous visits to other Village Hotels as was only ever there for one night, if this is a company wide philosophy, make it evident to guests that this is how it works)
Our room was located on the first floor just over the entrance to the hotel which was hosting a wedding party on the Saturday night. Cue groups of guests outside the entrance having a smoke and a chat until the early hours of the morning which isn't pleasant when you're having to have the windows open to let a bit of air in (there were two fans in the room with some benefit).
Car parking - the check in screens ask if you want to add car parking at £5 a day. I added this and it gives you an option to add the amount you need. What it doesn't specify is that this isn't for you to add the number of days you need, it's adding the amount of cars. It calculates the days automatically for you based on your booking. Why it doesn't just tell you this on screen I don't know. When I checked out I realised I was being overcharged (because that's when the system gives you the final balance due), luckily the helpful staff member explained the system and sorted it out, but said that this was a constant problem for them as the system doesn't make it clear to guests and they are constantly having to rectify this for people. It's something they themselves have raised to head office to no avail. So, Village Hotels, are you going to make your check in system a little clearer when people are adding parking?
