The location was ideal for our needs and the staff were very friendly.
The room we stayed in was tired, and had several maintenance issues.
The staff were excellent. Especially Poppy on reception and Roxie in the restaurant. Really helpful and friendly. The rooms had lovely aspect over the grounds and the bed and pillows were very comfortable
The room was a little smaller than I expected for the price point but was very well appointed. There were some ring marks on the bathroom unit and no shower mat which meant the shower was very slippy
We stayed a few years back and it wasn't a good experience. Everyone has an off-day so we thought we would give it another try as the village location is rather nice. What a difference! A significant improvement to cleanliness, room content and room temperature. The joy of finding a decent hairdryer and iron to hand was an absolute bonus!
Breakfast was really good (and hot) and restaurant staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful as are the Reception team.
The cleaning team are efficient and also very quiet and discrete as they move around. We also loved the 'do not service' environmental policy approach and the free drink voucher is a very good incentive.
Overall, it's been great to stay this second time and I am glad there has been a marked improvement. I would definitely recommend and it is a great location for the Harry Potter experience. There are also two excellent nearby pubs: Kings Arm and the Unicorn (both within walking distance).
Not a case of 'not liking', but the bar seating area could be made more 'homely' and less leather office, clinical looking. This might encourage more people to stay in the evening (spend money inhouse) rather than venturing down to the nearest pub. It's fine in the day but a more ambient, warm looking environment would enhance the experience. In the same space, a few higher level seated chairs would be great for those (like me) that struggle with lower seat height.
Again, not a whinge but mini fridges are always welcome and fresh milk in medium cartons/jugs always make for a better experience than the tiny carton ones so often used by hotels.

Hotel is compleatly unprepared to deal whit foreners staff talk fast and is unwiling to explain.
There are filth on walls long time from last painting. WHen im arrived there were paited stairs ..... on both sides making it wery hard to haul lugage whit no escalator or lift. Rooms are wery small. Venues had staff forgeting theyr other customers vnues had total priority
The atmosphere, the grounds are spectacular. The room was also very good.

No lift . Space in room was quite restricted the bed took up most of the room .
The building is lovely, comfy sofas to sit on by the bar. We were in the new building - bed very comfortable- everything we needed. Beautiful large gardens. Staff all very smart and pleasant.
Had the avocado bruschetta for lunch - very mediocre.

Der Zeltanbau vor dem Anwesen ist für Hochzeiten etc wohl nötig, stört aber den Flair.
Location was excellent for us visiting Warner brothers studio.
Room was extremely small, nothing like the photos advertised. We were in an annex on the side of the hotel. Food was disgusting & over priced. The bar prices were extortionate, £5.50 for a glass of lemonade …!
Dinner on first night was average not a lot of choice for vegetarians.
