The staff are wonderful! However places are in need or painting and a deep clean
Needs a clean
Great countryside location and building
No airconditioning in any of the rooms. This was a very hot day and for selling themselves as a luxury retreat, it was anything but. I was given two small fans and told to open my window (but also close them so bugs don’t come in). Beneath my window was a hit airconditioning exhaust for the restaurant below, so all in all it was a miserable night stay.
This lack of airconditioning is intentionally not advertised on their website and instead they use phrases like “air conditioned facilities” to mask that the rooms are boiling hot in summer
The pool and spa facilities were very good indeed. The grounds are stunning.
1- the room and parts of the building are extremely dated. Curtains hanging off, shower head busted and sprays in every direction but down, stains on carpets, old worn furniture. Not what you expect for the price at all.
2- staff. Some if not most of the staff are absolutely phenomenal, however some staff are about as helpful as a poke in the eye.
3- what do you pay for and what dont you?! I booked a stay with breakfast included and still ended up having to pay £15 for 2 eggs and avo on toast and a basic as chuff machine cappuccino. WELL HAPPY
Lovely calm atmosphere, very friendly staff. Good room and lovely grounds. Great pool.
While the food was good the availability throughout the day, particularly for lighter meals was poor. There was not really a bar and they did not serve beer, even 0%.
Had booked a spa break for 2 nights direct with Champneys so i thought, only realised error after 1 night.Booking .com was far more reasonable to add 2 night even adding dinner and lunch.
Lovely place and grounds. Helpful
Staff
The extra charges for an included breakfast rate. There was an additional charge for omelette and and speciality coffee (free filter coffee not good). Then a service charge on those items. Felt abit petty considering the money paid to stay overnight was quite high. I would have liked a swim but unfortunately as a disabled person there was no accessible options to get in and out of pool. It was an exceptionally hot day and no fans in the room meant I had a stifling hot night.
I recently visited Champneys Henlow and it was the perfect place for an active rest. The resort has beautiful, well-kept spaces throughout. The restaurant was excellent, featuring a great breakfast spread and lovely snacks at dinner.
I particularly enjoyed the open-air jacuzzi and the indoor pool, which is set in such a relaxing environment. The spa is fantastic, and they have a very complete gym. If you visit on a sunny day, it’s even better, as the gardens—complete with small waterfalls—are a wonderful place to unwind and escape the fast pace of daily life.
I appreciate it if they write that the price does not include the use of the SPA facilities and that there will be an additional cost.
It's a lovely spa, room was clean and great views. Lunch was great.
The lift was smelly but we only used it once.
The Spa is excellent
The hotel rooms are tired and poorly equipped for a premium destination.
