Location to food and drinks gave us several things to choose from. It was a short walk to Revolution Hall.
There were some areas around the hotel that were pretty dirty and had several homeless people, but it didnt feel unsafe
Close to places we needed to be. Cost was affordable.
Having no fridge in the room was inconvenient - some rooms have one - ours did not. The morning coffee which was supposed to be available every day at 8:00 was only available occasionally - for example, one morning around 9 AM the coffee pot was not set up on the ‘Original side’ and on the ‘Next’ side it was empty and the desk clerk said “Sorry I’ll get to that in a little while”; so we had to walk across and down the street to Grendel‘s for coffee every morning - no biggie but they did promise coffee and we were out another $10 daily for 5 days.
After the cleaning service, our room smelled like smoke and it was hard to get the smell out. So we stopped service. Parking was across the street and was in a sketchy area. There seemed to be plenty of parking spaces near the rooms which were not available to guests. Finally, and most importantly to us, Internet service was either extremely slow or nonexistent and when we asked about it the answer we got was “Oh it can be patchy on that side”. One more issue: without being warned beforehand, there was an extremely loud prom party essentially right outside of our door; this went on till about 10:30 PM. The desk clerk said - “Yeah it’s pretty loud; It’s the prom”.
The thing is, I like the property and find it charming - it’s just that management don’t seem to take the effort to make staying there a good idea. Fixing the wifi, buying a few small fridges, enforcing non-smoking, and attending to coffee for a couple of hours in the morning seem like easy upgrades - if they care.
It was super cute, I loved the location! I loved how attentive the staff were! The bar/restaurant inside the lobby was amazing, great bartenders and good vibes (hey love)! The rooms (NEXT JUPITER) had chalk board doors!
I loved that it has an event space, but it’s kinda loud if you want to have a quiet night. Also, the shower was very hard to turn on, but other than that no complaints!
its quiet and located close to where i want to be
have coffee out longer. but the staff shared some of theirs, i work at night so my mornings are at 2pm
Conveniently located within walking distance of Revolution Hall, great retro style decor in the rooms as well as the property.
I misunderstood that parking was included but at least it was across the street in a surface lot or under the buildings in a secured garage for an additional fee.
Lovely, interesting spot in portland ; never noisy and always felt welcome and safe
Room was a bit inaccessible for someone without full mobility would not be feasible because of stairs in the specific part of property . If you need elevator be sure to ask for other side of hotel
Underground parking. Very friendly staff. Bed was really comfortable. Nice courtyard.
The room was very small. Could hardly move in the bathroom. Not enough lights in the room.
Everything.
