The location was ok for Ashby de la zouch
Plenty of parking spaces, however quite busy
Given a twin room when I booked and specifically asked for a double. They initially couldn’t find my booking and when they realised it was through booking.com rather than direct I’m guessing I was given a sub standard room. The room was dirty, and dated, and directly outside an open sewerage/waste drain that smelled. The spa/gym facilities have time restrictions for guests staying at the hotel. Staff need customer service training, the majority are very young and don’t look like they want to be there.
Spa facilities were a bonus for a late booking, just wanting a room near to arboretum for a service - so not planning to book a hotel with spa. Got to use spa for about two hours on arrival day and could have used on morning of leaving but needed to attend ceremony so timetable.
Breakfast was excellent, staff were lovely.
Paid for restaurant dinner on evening - long wait for service, food OK but no outstanding, young lady server was very polite but manager did apologise for slow service noting waitress was a 'little overwhelmed' - not sure that is something to share, perhaps just apology would have sufficed. Couple nearby did get a discount as drinks did not arrive till main course well underway.
Just too few staff generally I would say.
See above - wrong box.
Also room not good - possibly as late cheaper booking via booking.com. Room lovely but bathroom poor, old tap type shower was hopeless and not particularly clean. Bath inset handles were rusty underneath - would not have had a bath here.
Mainly - sanitary product (wrapped in its plastic purple wrap - in the bathroom bin when I used it on morning of leaving. Mentioned to reception on way out and said they would speak to housekeeping - but not ideal, obviously not emptied when room was prepped.
Loved the isolation and quiet
Check in at 3 but room not ready until well past 4 almost 5 because they were quite busy
We had the most amazing time at Champneys!! This was our first time of visiting and we will be definitely returning. Harry behind the bar made us feel really welcome and was very accommodating.
The premises were clean and tidy, bedroom was comfortable and clean and we had a well rested sleep.
We stayed for 2 nights and both nights Massimo & Catrina were amazing. They made such a special effort to ensure we were comfortable and made the stay memorable.
We have been thoroughly impressed by Champneys and look forward to our next retreat.
Thank you
Good variation at breakfast and lunchtime very clean restaurant
Poor customer service at check in but was expertly resolved by the manager
A lovely surprise as booked at the last minute in desperation! Lovely room, good leisure facilities, excellent restaurants & stunning healthy breakfast.
Nothing
It was lovely, we had a lot of trouble booking so were pleased to arrive. The greeting from the receptionist Meg could have been warmer. The treatments were nice with Janet & Charlie. Wethought the bed rooms were a little tired looking and the food was nice but exactly the same choice for three days, it would have been nice to change it a little. The pool was a little cold. The bikes were in poor condition but we managed to get out. Thank you
Myself and Mum are currently at Springs and have had such a wonderful trip so far. We have just been for our evening meal and was served by Catrina and Massimo, who went above and beyond to ensure my food intolerances were caterered to, checking every course and advising on what is best. I felt so at ease and not like a problem whatsoever, Massimo was so patient when ordering and Catrina was so kind and found me my favourite pudding from lunch to have, as the other options contained gluten. The meal was absolutely fabulous, the spa is lovely, and our room in the hotel has a beautiful view. I am thoroughly enjoying my stay and Catrina and Massimo are prime examples of excellence in every way. Thank you both so much! x
We are members of Springs and love going there.
Recent we had lunch at Springs, and it was lovely. Sasima, a staff member, in the cafe and restaurant, was brilly. Sasima is always so kind and attentive, whilst being very efficient. She is a brilliant ambassador for Springs

Had a lovely mother/daughter day at the Springs Spa. Starting with a fabulous facial with a beautiful lady, Lana.
She was so lovely and easy to talk with, yes I’m a talker during treatments 🤣.
Such a great experience and I would definitely recommend her and any of the other treatments she covers, which is most of them! ..
Would book with Lana again like a shot, plus we got a full sized scrub at the end as part of the day package.. bonus!
1. Dust in the loos and in the womens changing room. Didn't feel clean at all!!
2. The very loud music in Beauty room so we couldn't relax at all, felt like we were next to a night club and staff agreed.
3. Lunch was cheap and tasteless and we spent most of my time waiting or asking staff to top everything up! Everyone was complaining, if you have timed seating there should be adequate food. Everyone was frustrated.
4. Get magnetic curtains to get rid of the flies!!or prevent them coming in. This was awful and frustrating whilst trying to eat!!
5. Sun loungers need a deep clean dirty and mouldy!!
6. Gym treadmill scorched my face no blinds on window.
7. No real atmosphere staff didn't really want to be there and didn't seem to really care. Lots of other people there felt the same! Lack of customer service.
8. The place is in desperate need of a reno its so grimy in places, esp the womens showers that had a awful smell.
On a positive note, the ladies that game us a pedicure were lovely Anais and Pam. One lady in the coffee shop, was great.
Won't be going back there. Save your money and go to a nicer place.
Bit of a hole. Not the best service, lunch was in a pokey corner behind the bar. No shared sauna to spend time with my husband. Sunbed cushions very stained. Does not live up to the Champney's brand name. Completely dissapointed for a special anniversary treat.
Lana was a brilliant therapist. Very professional, made me feel comfortable and listened to during my treatment without being intrusive in any way. Would recommend her!
Really enjoyed the facial, calighie was really nice and very good at the treatment
Great receptionist! Helpful! And knowledgeable!!!
Rooms were large however attention to detail was poor… no spoon… hair on bath and stuff squirted down tiles( looked like cleaning products?) dirty….
No water in the room either.
Spa was ok, lots of wet towels left on the cosy seats ( there were signs to ask customers not to do this!)
No water cups around in pool/ toilet area.
There were lots of nice places to sit in and out.
The older the staff the better their customer care!!!
Sorry younger people but your smiles and customer care were almost absent!
We ordered wine… you gave us an opened bottle!!! With wine missing!!!
There were issues with the menu and what they did have/didnt have.
When we ordered steak we were told? (Not asked!) ‘ you will be getting it with red wine sauce ( it was advertised with peppercorn sauce)
We had to ask for butter for the bread.. the list went on.
The beef ragu represented a child’s portion and it had pasta twists! ? When we asked about the type of pasta it should have… we were told they had run out! Had we known we could have looked at another choice.
Service was slow… despite it being quiet when we arrived. We had to take our desert be we were late to watch the football.
The cheese board was not great! It had dry cheese… a pot of grapes and a random blueberry! There were 4 small crackers .
There was a helpful staff member! Josh! Thank you …
Facilities were tired and not working. Also the loungers by the pool were dirty and the steam room water pipe did not even work.
Breakfast was very low standard. The advertising should highlight that it is only continental as there was no cooked breakfast.
Dinner was cold and could have been straight out of the microwave. Really disappointed.
Disappointed with the experience and cannot believe how much the Champany standard has dropped.
Lovely spa day with friendly staff, great treatment from Caleigh, and a relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely visit again
