Location and outdoor space
The hotel is poorly maintained and not managed well. Staff did not make any effort to address concerns with room. The door lock did not work properly, the room had a foul odor and I was made to wait 45 min to check in to my room after the 3pm check in time. Staff offered no compensation for inconvenience caused during my stay.
I used this hotel for my wedding block in July 2026. After reading many reviews with good experiences and talking to the sales manager Alex who is wonderful- I went ahead and reserved a block for my guests, a 2 night stay for myself and husband, and a meeting room to be used as a getting ready room for the girls.
When I checked in the first day and went to go put stuff in my room there was a guest who had just been able to enter the room before me. When I opened the door he was standing in the living room area and had said he was just grabbing something and left. I went down to the desk after this to get new keys issued as I was going to be staying the night alone with my daughter and did not want anyone to be able to access the room regardless of how it happened initially.
The next morning (the day of the wedding) my bridesmaids had come to the hotel to get ready and had spoken to the woman at the front desk about just keeping on her radar the possibility of early check in as we would be leaving the hotel around 12:45 and would not return until late in the evening. Multiple encounters with this woman left a lot to be desired. She was mildly accommodating when pushed. She had originally said "We don't do early check-ins"- and I am an extremely reasonable person and understand that is at the availability of when people check out but we really just wanted it on the radar so we could hopefully get the girls into their rooms before we had to leave. She was able to get two girls into their rooms which we appreciated.
One of the girls who was able to get their room ended up not staying because of the overwhelming stench of smoke in the room. She did tell the woman at the desk who said they would spray the room as we were going to be leaving anyways. When we returned around 10p.m. the room still smelled awful and they ended up going home. I had a second guest who had the same issue and also did not end up staying. I understand the hotel was fully booked which made this difficult to adapt however as the bride who spent a lot of time deciding where to offer a room block, this was extremely upsetting to me. Luckily they were able to drive home but the point of the hotel and shuttle was so that my guests could have a good time and didn't have to stop drinking to drive home safely.
After we returned from the wedding, the woman who was working at the desk was falling asleep while interacting with my guests who were trying to buy snacks from the store area.
Lastly, another guests room when they entered had a dirty sock and nail clippings on the floor. This was also brought to the attention of staff before the reception. They were told they would go and fix the issue, however while the sock was removed, they still found clippings after.
The overall appearance of the halls generally also could use a little extra attention as the rugs throughout had a lot of small pieces of trash or dirt scattered around.
At no point when any of these issues were brought to the attention of staff did anyone offer any form of sincere apology. While the guests who did not stay were reimbursed and the dirty room was given a 50% refund, the responses I received when expressing my concern of these events just seemed like every day occurrences and no one really cared. I was also told I would receive points credited to my account and it's now been 3 weeks.
I'm really not someone who will leave reviews however the hotel block should've been the easiest thing to have booked and it caused me more stress than most of the things that day. Not only is this a Marriott hotel, but it is in a nice town. I expected much more and wish I had just spent the extra money to stay at other area hotels who take pride in their appearance, cleaning procedures and customer service/interactions.
First, beware. When we arrived after a five hour drive we were told by Jenny that we did not have a reservation (even after giving her the confirmation number).
She then told me that they “no longer honor reservations from Booking.com”.)
I then asked if they have rooms available and she said “we are almost sold out.”
My point being, she had almost no interest in easing my mind as to whether or not I was going g to have to pack up all of my luggage and my family and find another hotel.
She did offer to call her manager and after thirty minutes we were on our way to our room.
I very nicely asked if perhaps she would consider upgrading our room and her response was “you already have a one bedroom.”
Let’s move on to the pool and hot tub. This hotel is in need of some TLC. It’s clean and the other front desk attendant was really nice (Tamika). But the beds are uncomfortable and the pillows are not the “Marriott” quality we typically see. Oh… and then there is the creepy local guy who somehow gets onto the property and hangs out by the pool bothering people. According to the staff, this is an ongoing problem.
Overall, I was displeased with how they handled my reservation and I’m not certain they would honor someone else who booked through this app.
Good location, nice staff
Our room smelled strongly of mildew… and trust my, i am not that guy who thinks black mold was created by the devil… I usually do not care but this was a smack in the face when eh door opened… also when i woke in the morning to get a shower, no hot water! My wife had taken a shower the night before and said she had to let it run a long time to get hot water.. in the am, no hot water after close to 10 min. The 3rd thing is the facility is clearly in need of repair and update, cracked sidewalks, broken doors…nothing terrible but we paid about 400 bucks for one night! By that measure, clearly this was not worth that kind of money… this is 120 buck max
Room felt really cramp d and wasn’t comfortable
Family and extended family all stayed for my neices wedding in the area. Hotel was fantastic, clean, friendly staff. Marriott never disappoints.
Avon ct. very pleasant staff clean rooms. Very home like feeling the cost for what we got was so worth the experience
Cute, clean, classy residence inn. I love having more space and a kitchen when I travel.
Stay was fine overall. Room was reasonably priced, clean and well appointed. Staff at the front desk did their jobs well, but had no personality. Breakfast was excellent. When we arrived at the hotel, my wife and I were looking forward to having a glass of wine, but to our surprise and disappointment, we were told that this Residence Inn had no liquor license. Having stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, that was totally unexpected, to say the least.
Very nice hotel located in Avon, Ct., half hour by car from Bradley airport. We only stayed two nights and did not take advantage of the longer stay amenities. Room included a sitting area, small kitchen with refrigerator, two burner electric surface unit, with silverware and dishes. A separate bedroom with attached bathroom with tub and shower combo. Sink located conveniently outside bathroom. Room was clean with nice bedding and towels. You had the option of housekeeping service. A full service breakfast buffet was served from 6:30-9:30 am. I would recommend checking this hotel out if your stay includes the Avon/Simsbury area.
Nice room, Amazing staff! Breakfast was basic but delicious, the rooms are well maintained but out of date (super clean). The staff makes this hotel the best friendly, kind and fun I will start everyday now telling my self “have fun seizing the castle”!
