Everything was perfect. Room decor , size , amenities and most of all the excellent staff who have been trained to a standard I have never experienced before in a Johannesburg hotel.
Nothing really. Perhaps it should have its own spa which would be more convenient
Service, space, cleanliness
The hotel car I ordered was an hour late and then we had to walk a quarter of a mile to get to the car. I explained at check out I was willing to pay only 50% for this terrible service from a Marriot Hotel. You outsource this, but it's clear you are not outsourcing to a proper company. Marriot service I thought was meant to be five star which is why I chose you.
Then I find after I had checked out and paid the agreed total of ZAR2,000, later I discovered that Marriot Hotels had deducted a further ZAR 8000 from my credit card. This is disgraceful behaviour. I am not staying a Marriot hotel again, and I expect this sum to be re-imbursed as soon as possible.
ON MY STAY:
The internet was a problem, I tried several times to connect and failed every time. The receptionist was going to send a technician to fix it, but it somehow fixed itself and it started working after around almost an hour.

There was no fridge, let alone there being no Mini-bar for cold refreshments. Yet there was designated space for one.
The coffee cups were very attractive and of good quality - a pity the coffee machine did not work. I reported this but nobody came to repair or replace it.
The lighting in the evening was so weak I could not make out the switches for the lights. I had to switch them all off at the master switch to get some sleep. I only discovered the switches in the morning when there was decent light that enabled me to see them.
I ordered room service of French fries and a Corona beer. These were excellent ! That's about the only plus I can think of on my overnight stay.

The ambience and the finishings.
We had an incident with one of the staff at breakfast which turned the whole experience sour. I just can’t get over it. It turned what could have been a great experience into a very sour experience.
The only thing this place has going for its self is the location and the design
The staff are rude and not very welcoming. The first time we booked it was awful and then we decided to try again but nothing has changed. It’s like we are disturbing the staff by checking in. Then I must double pay for breakfast and the hotel responds by apologising and asking if I have any further questions I can reach out?? Why must I ask for a refund if I was over charged??? Is it not normal practice to refund someone you over charged?? When I checkout, no one greets they just stick their handout for the cards check the computer and say thanks. Disgusting behaviour
