Authentic Hotel with atmosphere. Perfectly situated but some issues in the room.
Pros:

Perfectly situated in the Center of the city and very close to Victoria Station. Good connection by tram in all directions close by. An old Hotel with original authentic atmosphere (if you are looking for that). My room (# 6) had wonderful view. Friendly and helpful staff.

Cons:

The room I stayed in (# 6) was mostly ok. BUT there was very little possibility to unpack so if you are staying for more than one night that might be a problem. I was alone in a double room. If my wife would have been traveling with me we would have had an issue with this. I had to put my clothes here and there on random shelves and on a very narrow hanger in a corner in the room. In the bathroom there was no hanger for towels at all. After a shower it was not possible to hang your wet towel anywhere. The mirror was so low that I had to bend down for shaving - plenty of wall space to have a bigger mirror or to place it higher. A very small shelf under the mirror for your toiletries, just enough for my needs, but this is a double room - for two people.The mixer tab on the sink was automatic (like you might see in airports). I did not like that. But like I said, plenty of wall space to mend all of this. I hope it will be done because I would like to stay in this hotel again, but before booking I would ask questions based on my previous experience. I only had breakfast once during a weeks stay. It was al la carte (no buffet). I did not see a reason to try that again.

Great short city stay option
Pros:

Great location with a decent sized room. Staff were friendly and it was very clean.

Pros:

Het ontbijt moest worden besteld via de kaart. Het was ook niet duidelijk of je maar één portie p.p. mocht bestellen of meer. Een ontbijtbuffet was prettiger geweest.
Het eten was daarentegen wel erg lekker. Er was ook onbeperkt oploskoffie, thee, water en sinaasappelsap.
Voor iets anders moest je bijbetalen, wat ook weer jammer was.

Cons:

Het hotel zelf ziet er van buiten prachtig uit, maar binnen is het erg verouderd en klein. Je moet wel goed mobiel zijn ivm de vele trappen. De gratis Wi-fi deed het niet.
Het bed had het formaat van een twijfelaar. Voor een stel Nederlanders veel te kort. De badkamer was ook erg smal.
Het kraanwater smaakte erg naar chloor, ondanks dat het wel veilig was om te drinken. Maar hierdoor dus genoodzaakt flessen water aan te schaffen.

Very disappointing experience – customer service was not acceptable

Our stay at The Mitre Hotel was unfortunately a very disappointing experience.

We paid an additional £15 for early check-in and were allowed into our room at 10:30 AM. We appreciated being given access early, but after approximately 15 minutes we discovered that the bed sheets were completely wet. We were already in our pyjamas and had gone to the room specifically to get some sleep.

Instead of being able to rest, we had to leave the room ourselves and search the corridor for a member of the housekeeping staff. The bed then had to be changed, which cost us around another 30 minutes of valuable sleep. To make matters worse, the cleaning manager subsequently came and knocked on our door again.

We had a VIP experience for Hilary Duff at 2 PM, so getting enough rest was important to us. We had paid extra for a service and quite reasonably expected the room to be clean, prepared and ready for us.

What was particularly disappointing was the hotel's response when we raised the issue. Rather than acknowledging the inconvenience, we were told that because we had been given access before the official early check-in time, no reimbursement would be offered.

In our opinion, this response completely misses the point. The fact that the hotel allowed us into the room earlier does not change the fact that the room was not properly prepared and we had to deal with wet bed sheets after being given access. We did not cause this problem.

Mistakes can happen in any hotel, but what matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, we felt that the hotel took very little responsibility for what happened and showed no real goodwill towards us as paying guests.

We left feeling disappointed, stressed and, most importantly, that our complaint simply wasn't taken seriously.

Based on our experience, we would unfortunately not choose The Mitre Hotel again.

Really enjoyable visit to a vintage, characterful hotel right in the centre of the city.
Pros:

Excellent location very close to my station.

Excellent breakfast in the morning & great value for money.

Very friendly and helpful staff.

Comfy bed & well sound & light proofed so was able to sleep.

Cons:

When I stayed I had a back injury which made going up and down stairs with bags laborious, and there were a lot to get to my room. The lack of lift access was a problem, but this was all.
