⭐☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing Stay
I had a very disappointing experience at this La Quinta. From the moment I checked in, there were multiple issues that were never resolved.
The TV in my room did not work for my entire stay. I called the front desk, stopped by multiple times, and was repeatedly told someone would fix it. Maintenance eventually came by and admitted the hotel was fully booked and they couldn’t replace or repair the TV.
Even more concerning was the cleanliness. I found both roaches and what appeared to be bed bugs in my room. I reported the problem immediately. Maintenance removed one of the bugs and said the room would be treated, but nothing was ever done during my stay.
To make matters worse, I had requested a late checkout before my arrival because I was traveling with family who were also staying at the hotel. When I returned from the beach, I discovered my room key had been deactivated, leaving me locked out despite my approved request.
The lack of communication, poor customer service, and failure to address serious cleanliness concerns made this one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I also had to request a refund and the return of my security deposit. I would not recommend staying at this location until these issues are addressed.
Our family made a reservation at this oceanfront La Quinta for two nights in a room advertised to accommodate six people. While the hotel's location was excellent, the overall condition of the property and the lack of attention to maintenance and cleanliness led us to check out a day early and return home to Orlando.
Room Condition
The room itself had several maintenance and cleanliness issues. The bathroom walls showed signs of previous repairs that had been done poorly, and some of those areas still appeared to have what looked like mildew.
The tile floor looked reasonably clean at first glance, but after wiping up a small amount of spilled water, the towel came away black with dirt, suggesting the floor hadn't been cleaned thoroughly.
The bedding appeared freshly washed, but one of the sheets or blankets had a noticeable black stain that clearly had not come out in the wash. While it may have been clean, it was disappointing that stained bedding was still placed on the bed.
The room was intended to sleep six people with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa. Unfortunately, the sofa bed could not be unfolded without first pulling the couch into the middle of the room. Once moved, it partially blocked the entrance door, making the room awkward and potentially unsafe to navigate.
The air conditioner also leaked water onto the balcony floor, and the balcony table was broken and unusable, limiting our ability to enjoy the outdoor space.
Property Maintenance and Cleanliness
Several areas around the property appeared to suffer from deferred maintenance and inconsistent housekeeping.
The pool water was somewhat cloudy and contained floating pieces of plastic, including straw wrappers and fragments of food packaging.
The hot tub's jet controller had been broken off, making the jets unusable.
The outdoor showers for rinsing off sand and salt water were functional, but someone had left a dirty baby diaper beside one of the showers, where it remained for several hours without being removed.
The hotel allows dogs, which isn't an issue in itself, but we encountered dog urine in multiple walking areas that remained there for days without being cleaned.
One of the stairways had standing water that remained for more than 24 hours. Because the stairs are tiled and have no additional slip-resistant surface, this created what seemed like an unnecessary safety hazard.
The elevator was extremely small and felt unstable enough that we chose to use the stairs to reach our third-floor room instead.
Amenities and Service
The hotel's biggest strength is its location. The ocean view from our room was beautiful, and beach access was convenient and easy.
Parking was also straightforward. Each room receives one parking pass, and we had no difficulty finding a space or coming and going during our stay.
We did experience some frustration with housekeeping.
Although our room was set up to accommodate six guests, only four towels were provided. When we requested additional towels, we were told we would have to exchange the towels already in our room rather than simply receiving enough towels for the room's stated occupancy.
While not every issue we encountered was entirely the hotel's fault—for example, other guests smoking marijuana near the pool—the staff generally seemed absent and slow to address problems throughout the property.
Breakfast
The breakfast seating area was comfortable, and some of the offerings, including yogurt, oatmeal, and cereal, were perfectly acceptable.
However, the hot items were disappointing. The scrambled eggs tasted like reconstituted eggs with a grainy texture and an artificial, chemical flavor. The waffle irons also appeared to be set at too high a temperature, producing overly hard, crispy waffles, and we overheard several other guests making similar complaints.
Overall Impression
The oceanfront location and beach access were genuinely enjoyable, but they were outweighed by the number of maintenance, cleanliness, and service issues we experienced throughout our stay. After one night, we decided to check out a day early and return home to Orlando so we could be more comfortable.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not choose to stay at this property again.
The good - front desk was very friendly and accommodating, the beds were comfortable, and the location was the best-beachfront.
The bad/ugly - ac was very noisy, room smelled musty, there was mildew on the ceiling, the beds were made with dirty sheets, the sink was clogged with sand so it barely drained, a half-empty water bottle was left behind by a previous guest, the pool had a nasty foam floating on top, the pet relief area was the size of the bathroom and right next to the busy highway, and the landscaping was like one big ashtray with cigarette butts littered everywhere (including pool area). If you choose ground floor, your patio will offer no privacy. You will be sitting within 2 feet of your neighbors on either side. Both the exterior door and sliding glass door had seen better days. Luckily, they still locked. Continental breakfast was what you’d expect at a cheap motel. Lightly scrambled eggs and turkey sausage links floating in water.
Very nice motel. We had an oceanfront room but didn’t have a chance to go to the beach - just an overnight stay. The dog potty area is next to the road and just a small place. Everything was clean and in working order. Noise from outside was minimal and we were right next to the pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good but not extravagant - scrambled eggs, sausage links, apples, waffle maker, toast, bagels, cereals, juices/drinks, yogurt, and coffee, of course, which was pretty good for a motel. There was a case of items to the right as we walked into the lobby from the rear door, but I didn’t really notice what was in there. We will definitely come here again when we’re in the area.
Great place right on the water, great pool, clean rooms, comfy beds and great breakfast. Thank you so much. I would very much recommend.
The lobby is nice but the room was disgusting! Black mold, dirty floors, bathroom door didn't close. Sliding door was rusted in the track, and very hard to open or close. Walls were patched, but left unpainted. Sink drained very slowly, almost overflowed .Never going back!
We stayed 10 days at this LaQuinta.
The room was nice with ocean view.
The staff was very friendly besides the cleaning service.Nobody has asked us during this time if we needed any cleaning or at least fresh towels.I had to do it asking each time for refreshing the room.
She hasn't been very helpful neither nice.No answer for my "hi"just primadonna attitude. If not her I'd give 5 stars and recommend the place.
Beware!!! No security, dirty rooms, hallways and breezeway smells of urine and puke! Our belongings were stolen from the pool area by another guest staying in the hotel! They let anyone off the beach NON -paying customers to fill up hot tub pool area NO-security staff at desk very rude
Great spot to stay, location is always key.
Worst La Quinta we have ever stayed at and we are Wyndham Rewards Members so we have stayed at LQs all over the country! Stayed one night with our 2 dogs. They charged my credit card 3 charges. 1 charge for the room. A $25 charge for the pet fee and an additional $100 deposit as a third transaction. They only refunded $75 days later. I called and they stated they charge $25 per dog per night and I owed them since I had 2 dogs on the reservation. I already paid the $25 at check in for the pet fee which it states on their website that the fee is $25 for up to 2 pets. The guy argued that this is their policy and he will need to talk to a manager... currently waiting for a response. As for the hotel, the floors were sticky. The sheets were like sandpaper with pilling. They literally felt like I was sleeping in cat litter exfoliating my legs! The first and 3rd floor ice machines were both broken when we checked in and there isn't one on the 2nd floor. There was a centipede in the bathtub that I relocated outside. The tub dripped all night and had visible mold. The room smelled so strong of mold and mildew that I had to take allergy medication and ibuprofen the next morning and my eyes were still itching from allergies days later. There is nowhere to walk a dog except a dirt pile by the dumpster where no one picked up poop so of course I stepped in it. We are Wyndham members and this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Never again!
Super clean room. Fantastic view of ocean & pool. Close to everything & quiet. Pet friendly ($25 per day). The room was nice. We would definitely return again. ♥️♥️♥️ Top off with friendly service
Great couple of days at the beach!🏝️
Common areas very clean!
The room did smell like pet urine , which was unfortunate!
Staff. They were very accommodating. I had a few requests. They took care of everything.
The selection at breakfast was smaller than we're used to.
Good location, big room
Dirty, smelled moldy, several roaches found in the room
cleanliness
fridge doesn’t work
Love this place, they’ve updated breakfast since the last time stayed during Covid .
Everything. It was awesome!!!
Walking the dog thru the pool area without going around the property.
There was mold on the ceiling and the Jacuzzi wasn't clean
The view was the best. We really liked sitting on the back patio
