Mixed feelings. Good for aged. Close to hospital for testing, but so spendy.
Pros:

The cleaning ladies were nice and helpful.

Though bare, the rooms were clean.

Easy to use internet connection.

Comfortable bed

Good coffee and easy to use coffeemaker.

Cons:

It is the only hotel we have ever stayed in that charged you $14.95 per person for every breakfast. We travel a lot and stay in nice places. Everyone else has included breakfast. We were there for testing at a connected hospital and we had breakfast in their cafeteria for half the price and there were more choices.

It charged you daily for parking in the parking garage.

The decor was not welcoming when you entered the room. It seemed so bare, plain and cold. The window shades were difficult to open and close.

Pros:

Very upscale and clean. Staff was very helpful and very friendly. We were there for a surgery at BJC and it was directly connected to the hospital. It was really nice to walk through the hallway to get to where I needed.
I didn't have to leave for dinner either. Downstairs there is an Applebee's for the Hotel guests! Everything was so convenient for our stay. We do recommend if you have to go to Barnes for an overnight stay (such as an impatient surgery) and you live a few hours away like we do.(4hrs away) Definitely consider it. 😀

Cons:

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Fantastic employee
Pros:

Husband was a patient at Barnes Hospital. We booked here for the convenience. Alex was fantastic at the front desk. Friendly, polite, & was competent with his work. The hotel was comfortable & I felt safe.

Cons:

Delayed check in, stressed staff, lobby under maintenance, attached to huge hospital meaning additional use of key cards all over, having to pay for parking, visible dirty parts of room, shower and some unidentified sticky liquid across pictures

The staff was not helpful during our entire 3 day stay. I will never stay at this hotel again.
Pros:

The fact that the hotel connected to the hospital where I was seeing a patient. That is it.

Cons:

My son left a bag in our room and have called MANY times about it. The one time I was able to reach anyone in Housekeeping, she let me know how much she didn't want to look for our bag. Never received any type of call back. Last time I called and spoke with someone at the front desk and they said they would personally hand deliver the message to return the call, that was 2 days ago. I don't usually write reviews, but on this one, big thumbs down.

Highly recommend!
Pros:

I would 10/10 recommend the DoubleTree St. Louis, especially for anyone who needs to be near Barnes Jewish Hospital, which is right next door.

I had the pleasure of being greeted on arrival by Alex at the front desk, and he set the tone for my entire stay. I was there for two weeks while my mom was a patient at Barnes, and Alex was excellent throughout. He made sure we were looked after and taken care of — his calm, warm, funny demeanor put us instantly at ease, which meant the world since my mom was undergoing treatments and tensions were running high. When I needed to extend my stay, Alex and the entire DoubleTree team were more than accommodating for my situation.

A major bonus: the third floor is connected directly to the hospital, so you don't even have to go outside. That made it safe and incredibly convenient for me to go back and forth, which was a godsend because I was still working full-time while supporting my mom.

If you're considering the DoubleTree St. Louis in the Central West End, I cannot recommend it, plus Alex and the entire staff, enough.
