An overpriced, outdated, and unpleasantly smelly room with good beds
Pros:

The room was extremely outdated and had a strong, unpleasant odor—likely coming from the carpet, window treatments, or air-conditioning unit. The beds were comfortable, but that did not make up for the smell and overall condition of the room. The décor and furnishings felt like they had not been updated since the Nixon era.

For more than $1,000 for a two-night stay, we expected a much cleaner, fresher, and better-maintained room—or at least a rate that reflected its condition.

The advertised “great breakfast” was also disappointing. The pancakes tasted artificial, and the omelets appeared to be made from powdered eggs. It was far below what we expected based on the hotel’s description and price point.

Cons:

At a minimum, the hotel should remove the outdated curtains, replace the odor-filled carpet, and change the A/C filter—or ideally address all three. Any one of those could be contributing to the unpleasant smell in the room.

The breakfast also needs significant improvement. Serving artificial-tasting pancakes and omelets made from powdered eggs does not match the standard implied by advertising a “great breakfast,” especially at this price point.

Most importantly, room rates should reflect the actual condition and quality of the accommodations—not simply demand during a holiday weekend. Charging more than $1,000 for two nights for a dated, smelly room feels like taking advantage of guests rather than providing value.

Nice to be right on the lake and close to the Ferry!

Best Mackinaw City stay.
Pros:

The front desk staff Michelle as amazing. Check in was smooth and our room was on the beach. The sunrise was gorgeous. Perfect location and clean.

Dissatisfied and disappointed
Pros:

The view from the balcony was very lovely. Walkable to ferry and restaurants.
I the staff was friendly.

Cons:

Our room was so damp/humid my husband had an asthma attack. Once showered, I walked to the bed to get dressed and my feet were so dirty I had to use a handy wipe to clean them again!

Michelle at the Front Desk went above and beyond helping us get into a beautiful room, with an amazing view! This place checks ALL the boxes! The breakfast served has everything from scrambled eggs and sliced ham to cold cereal, waffles, or muffins, fresh fruit and yogurt and was warm, fresh, and stayed filled. The Jacuzzi tub was so relaxing, when I found the timer behind the door lol The beach was beautiful and easy to access. All exceptional!

An old classic.
Pros:

The location was nice. The view from the room was great. The staff were all very nice. The bed was comfortable.

Cons:

We were "upgraded" to the 4th floor. The elevator only goes to the 3rd floor. The facility is old. The screen door to the balcony fell off the track multiple times. The door to the bathroom was blocked from opening fully by a wall mounted tv. I am sure the staff does the best they can with what they have.
