Disappointed with the room and the noise disruption.
Pros:

Booked the property due to the extreme heat and attending a wedding by nearby, the grounds are lovely.

Cons:

The fire alarm went off twice in the night which woke my newborn baby up. I understand this can happen but this also happened the last time I stayed with a friend at the hotel so seems like a recurring issue. The air con was also not very cold the room was still warm.

Lovely last minute break
Pros:

We booked a short stay at the hotel due to my husband's ill health. It appealed to us due to it's amenities and having nearby woodland. I loved the decor of our room and the restaurant, and feel the hotel could be really beautiful if maintained better, but as a short stay guest, this wasn't much of a bother to us. We dined at the restaurant for dinner once and breakfast three times. The food was tasty and had variety. The woodland nearby appealed to us and so we went for a couple of walks during our stay. You can walk as far or as little as you wish through woodland and beside farm land. We also chose the hotel due to having a spa. We never saw the treatment rooms, but did visit the swimming pool, steam room and sauna. The swimming pool is warm which is a nice surprise and no doubt was warmed up by the sun too. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone who wanted a similar style of short break as us.

Cons:

The restaurant is rather small which isn't a problem in the evening if guests book, but can be problematic in the mornings for breakfast as there's not much space to browse or get around tables. On our last morning, we waited around 15 minutes to get our order taken despite plenty of staff around. We ended up calling someone over as our eye contact didn't work. We chose the hotel due to having a spa. The let down for us was that none of the lockers locked which meant we had to bring our belongings through to the pool. If we'd have known, we would've brought less with us. Both my husband and I attempted to lock our bags away in multiple lockers (my husband tried all of them in the male changing room) but none of them locked. I thought I'd locked away my bag until I was able to unlock it without using any key codes. I feel like our room wasn't hoovered before or during our stay as the peeling paint which was on the floor when we arrived, remained until we checked out. These were examples of how with a bit of refurbishment and tidying, the hotel could be excellent.

A lovely stay, made special by the kind staff
Pros:

Booked an overnight stay for my husbands 50th birthday. There was a bit of a mix up on checkin, the room we booked on Booking.com was showing up as cancelled. However, Roisin was amazing and found us another room. A minor issue with the room was sorted promptly and we were very well looked after. All of the staff were so kind and friendly, and the surroundings, room and restaurant were all lovely. We had a really nice meal in the restaurant and breakfast was great too. This was our third visit to Lythe Hill and we will be back.
Thank you :)

Beautiful Wedding Venue
Pros:

We had our wedding here on the 4th June 2026, I found this place on Hitched website and fell in love with this venue from our very first visit. The Tudor building is so beautiful and the grounds take your breath away!, we knew this was where we wanted to say "I Do".
The different wedding packages available and prices was brilliant, we chose the intimate wedding package as we was just celebrating with immediate family and friends, but we all said this would be a great place for a much larger wedding too!, communication in the lead up to our big day was brilliant, Amy our events coordinator was fantastic!, thank you so much, we appreciate everything you did for us.
We really enjoyed our menu tasting, it was a truly wonderful experience, big shout out to Ben our waiter, you was brilliant and answered all our questions.
We hired the Cedar suite for our ceremony and the Oak room for our reception, we was very lucky to be able to decorate both rooms the day before which was incredibly helpful as we was doing our own decorations.
Most of our guests stayed at the hotel and was all very pleased with their rooms and the amazing food in the restaurant and breakfast was amazing!, Spa facilities was a added bonus and enjoyed by all our guests.
The cleaning staff, bar and restaurant staff and reception staff that we met on our time here was very friendly and extremely helpful, thank you to you all for making our time here a memorable one!, special thank you to the cleaning lady who did the towels into swans and petals in our Honeymoon Suite, that was a lovely touch!.
Even though we had a rainy day for our wedding it was still perfect in every way, we had a wet weather option in place so there was no stress at all, we just enjoyed every minute of it!.
Thank you to everyone at Lythe Hill hotel and spa, we will definitely be recommending this beautiful place to everyone we know and we hope to be back very soon to visit and eat more of the delicious food!.
From the Newly Weds,
Rebecca & Andries

It’s fine for one night but if you are travelling with a dog it’s not great
Pros:

The older parts of the property were fascinating .
The AC very welcome in the heat wave .
Pool and jacuzzi lovely and lovely grounds

Cons:

Travelling with a dog we were asked to pay £40 for the night extra. ( the most we have ever paid) At meal times despite the hefty doggie surcharge we

had to sit in the sticky tabled bar area alone
whilst the buzzing restaurant had lovely views we had a view of the road . When we asked if we could move to the garden we were told we couldn’t as they were short staffed. The bar manager on duty was quite rude and when we queried it … he said “ well you brought the dog !! “. Rude !

Peaceful stay in a stunning location
Pros:

Beautiful hotel in a stunning peaceful setting.
Room was very clean, tidy and bed very comfortable.
Al staff, especially reception were so friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Our only criticism is that when we arrived an hour ahead of check in, and went to get a drink from the bar, we waited nearly 20minutes before the restaurant staff had time to serve us. This is not a reflection on the waiting staff, but it felt as though one more person was needed to manage the load alongside late lunch diners.

Lovely little weekend getaway
Pros:

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, it's a haven of peace and tranquility. Lovely staff, really nice outdoor pool, respectful guests all around, even the kids by the pool were kept quiet. Decent breakfast, lovely outdoor bar and terrace for a casual evening meal. Love that we got upgraded to a suite. Good value for money on the overnight bed and breakfast.

Cons:

The hotel is a little "tired" on the inside, the doors, windows and carpets all feel really ancient. Probably what makes the price of the overnight stay affordable. The room was done up with a fresh carpet and bathroom however. The drinks were very pricey at the poolside (21GBP for a aperol spritz, £15 for a coffee and tea in takeaway cups). We didn't love having two single mattresses stuck together.

Pros:

We stayed at this hotel for our wedding night and had a lovely experience. Our room was beautiful, clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect place to relax after our special day. The spa facilities were very good and we really enjoyed using them, although we feel that certain areas could benefit from a little refresh and updating. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good selection of food, and what really stood out was the wonderful staff. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made our stay even more memorable. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily recommend this hotel for a special occasion or a relaxing getaway.
