Stylish hotel, with good food and drink
Pros:

Great location, right in the centre of Oakham, and with a car park. The food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was cooked to order which made a nice change from the typical breakfast buffet. Good quality bacon and sausages! Well kept London Pride in the bar.

Cons:

The mattress in my room was, I think, a little on the old side and was extremely firm (and I like a firm mattress usually), which didn’t lead to a perfect nights sleep.

I know times are tuff but I consider it expensive.
Pros:

Easy to find with good parking. Various other places to have an evening meal, which we used every night.
I pre requested a hair dryer and this was in the room on arrival.

Cons:

They had removed the kettle and replaced it with a kind of coffee machine. Fortunatly it also dispenced hot water as I drink tea.
The double bed was two divans side by side. Clearly one was used much more than the other which created a dip as well as exposing a hard edge ridge where they joined. They need swapping around from time to time to avoid.

Great location as expected
Pros:

The location was perfect as we attended U11 Cricket Nationals happened at Oakham school, just 2 mins drive from the Inn.

Cons:

The room was really hot with a tiny fan....also the double bed was not much cushion... We were a big group and most of us didn't book as B&B, there was only one person at the breakfast and he became too busy..

Enjoyable stay with superb food. Accommodation rather expensive as needs some attention.
Pros:

Warm welcome. Lovely restaurant and bar areas. Pleasant outside space. Excellent location.
Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely superb. Pleasant waiting staff.
Owner has done a grand job with refurbishment so far but still work in progress.

Cons:

Rooms a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Sad as they have a charm about them.
Bar closed very early for a hotel at 10.30pm.

Pros:

Location is excellent. Ample car parking. Extremely accommodating staff

Cons:

It’s an old building so has no aircon. In the June high temps it was uncomfortably hot in the room. The fan provided helped but was small and noisy

Almost perfect
Pros:

Nice room. Private car park. Drinks in courtyard were great - friends staying in other locations had really noisy beer gardens and so joined us. Close to castle (amazing).

Had a great 'car chat' with owner and fellow sport car nut. See Don't Likes.

Loved Oakham

Cons:

Was a hot day/night and across our expanse of windows over the market place the only ones we could open were tiny ones at each end. Radiators turned off. Boiling hot. Resorted to using the table top fans you provide which were, in our case, incredibly noisy and hence, overall, a really poor night's sleep at 'suite' rates.

The owner agreed that you should make more of your car park. Had I known then I would have used ,my 'classic' but, as info was absent, just used my everyday car. As a classic/vintage car owner then the first thing, before bedrooms etc, I look at is the car parking!

A wonderful relaxing overnight stay
Pros:

As always, there is a friendly welcome from the minute you arrive. The rooms are comfortable with good facilities but the quirkiness of an old building. Breakfast is excellent and you are always so well looked after in the dining room.

Not what we have been used to in the past.
Pros:

The location and breakfast was as expected as we use The George each time we visit Oakham.

Cons:

The room was not value for money £171 as compared to other rooms which we have stayed in the hotel, with it not being very big.
