4 star prices for a 1 star hotel
Pros:

Hotel Minerva charges 4-star prices but, in our experience, delivered a stay that was far below 4-star standards. I have traveled all around Europe and lived in Italy for years, yet never have had such a poor experience.

The views are absolutely stunning, the pool area is beautiful, and several staff members were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by numerous issues during our stay.

The biggest problem was the air conditioning. Despite setting the room to the lowest temperature, the room remained extremely hot for the first several nights. We repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat and slept very poorly. We requested a fan multiple times and were ignored until our third request at approximately 11 PM, after we had already spent several nights uncomfortably hot. We were eventually provided a second room key so the air conditioning could continue running while we were out, only to have it taken away again a few days later.

The room was also located near the elevator, and the constant noise from the elevator moving up and down could be heard from inside the room.

Housekeeping was another major disappointment. Staff entered and cleaned the room despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. On one occasion, we returned to find our room door left wide open with nobody present, which raised serious concerns about security and privacy. Clothes were inexplicably placed in the bidet during cleaning, and basic amenities such as shower soap were not consistently refilled.

The bathroom ventilation fan did not work, which meant every shower turned the bathroom into a steam room. The only way to clear the steam was to open the bathroom door and make the already warm room even hotter.

Finally, while the views are spectacular, prospective guests should know that the hotel is located quite far from the center of Sorrento and requires a significant uphill walk back to the property, which can be particularly difficult during the summer heat.

Overall, while the scenery is exceptional, the repeated issues with air conditioning, housekeeping, room comfort, and service prevented this from being an enjoyable stay. Given the price point, we expected significantly better.

Beautiful views and pool, but serious issues with air conditioning, housekeeping, and room comfort made this feel far be
Pros:

The views are absolutely stunning and the pool area is beautiful. Several staff members were also kind and helpful throughout our stay.

Cons:

The air conditioning was the biggest issue. Despite being set to the lowest temperature, our room remained extremely hot and we repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat. We had to ask three times before finally receiving a fan at 11 PM, and a second room key provided to keep the A/C running was later taken away.

Housekeeping also entered our room despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. On one occasion we returned to find our room door left completely open with nobody present, which raised serious concerns about security and privacy. Clothes were placed in the bidet during cleaning, and basic amenities such as shower soap were not consistently refilled.

The room was near the elevator and the noise could be heard throughout the day and night. The bathroom ventilation fan also did not work, causing the room to become hot and humid after every shower.

Finally, while the views are beautiful, the hotel is quite far from the center of Sorrento and the uphill walk back can be difficult, especially in the summer heat.

Amazing stay at Hotel Minerva!
Pros:

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Minerva! We received a warm greeting, were shown to a beautiful room and enjoyed enjoyed every moment at the hotel! The breakfast was lovely. Appertivo on the terrace was delightful. Easy walk from the hotel to Piazza Tasso. The rooftop pool was an extra bonus for relaxing after a day of exploring. I highly recommend Hotel Minerva for your stay in Sorrento! We will definitely stay there again!

Pros:

Poziționarea incredibila, priveliștea din camera, piscina, amabilitatea personalului.

Cons:

Amazing hotel , the views are outstanding
Pros:

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Minerva. Staff were so friendly , nothing was a trouble. The hotel was spotlessly clean . We were half board, food was delicious .
We had a sea view room with balcony, wow the views .
Like others state the walk into town is reached via a narrow path on a busy road, but didn’t cause us any problems

Amazing view but rooms could use a touch up
Pros:

The outdoor spaces, pool and views are 10/10. Nice choice for breakfast.
We had sea view room 503. Wonderful view. Nice amount of space. Limited place to hang towel. Shower sprayed everywhere. Limited counter space. I realize it’s and older building but the other places we stayed on this trip had modernized with simple additions (towel bars, small shelf)
We did not feel the daily cleaning was great. I think they basically make your bed and get you fresh towels.
Staff not as friendly as we had experienced at other stays on this trip, although the breakfast servers were nice.

Stunning boutique hotel with breathtaking views & great service
Pros:

Stunning boutique hotel with breathtaking views of sorrento & the sea. Also great service by the staff in general. We had an attic room no. 703 and it was the best with easy access to pool via some steps.

Pros:

- The hotel is like a boutique premium hotel. Colorful with blue and red decor.
- Service was really helpfull by the staff. I want to thank especially Francesco from front desk for the help even pre arrival. Also Rosario & the pool lady.
- Impecibbly clean all through out the hotel.
- Rooftop pool was perfect temperature with a pool bar and manager. Always found bed seats available and the bar is reasonably priced.
- Restaurant was great with amazing views and decent prices.
- Attic Rooms on 7th floor has great sea view and easy access to pool on 8th floor via some steps.
- There is water kettle with some teas and instant coffee.
- Hotel arranged our tours to Amalfi Coast & Capri. They were all great ones with hotel pickups.

Cons:

- The hotel is 10-15 minutes walk to the sorrento center. Its not hard at all to walk up or down but its something to mention if elderly or dont like to walk.
- One staff member asked imbedidly for tips. We found that a bit arrogant and left a sour taste in our mouth near the end of our stay.
- Bed was comfy but a bit too firm for my taste.
- No slippers, robes or coffee machine in the room.
- Breakfast was continental but I found it could be a bit more varied in the buffet style.

We loved our stay and will come back again once in Sorrento. It was a great base for the area and the hotel added to our experience.

Amazing Hotel, Staff, Location & Views
Pros:

Absolutely amazing hotel and experience!

From the first reply to the moment we left, everyone was so polite, helpful, and friendly, making our stay truly special.

We booked a Classic Double Room with a sea view and balcony, and it certainly did not disappoint. The views over Sorrento, the Bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius were simply breathtaking.

The room was the perfect size for us, with a comfortable bed and a nice shower. However, it was the incredible view from the balcony that really sold the room. The only thing that could be improved was the coffee, as it was provided in sachets with powdered milk. After the first day, we bought our own coffee and fresh milk, which we stored in the minibar fridge.

The location was perfect for us—just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento, yet only a 10-minute walk into town, which helped burn off some of the fantastic food and drink that Sorrento has to offer 😊. There is a pathway opposite the hotel that leads into town. It can be quite narrow in places, so it may not be suitable for everyone with mobility difficulties. There is also a small shop around 200 metres down the road for any snacks or essentials you may need.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and the breakfast was very good. There was a self-service selection of fruit and pastries, and you could also order bacon and eggs from the kitchen.

TOP TIP: Don't leave your food unattended if you're sitting outside uncovered—the seagulls stole our bacon while we were getting coffee! 😂

The rooftop pool area is fantastic, with stunning views from both the sun loungers and the pool itself.

We cannot wait to book and stay here again.

A special shout-out to Alessandro for helping with our bags and looking after us during our stay. He even spotted us in town on his day off and came over to check that we were okay and see if we needed any help or advice.

See you again soon!

Magical Time at the Minerva!
Pros:

This was our first trip to Italy, and we stayed at the Minerva for 8 days - it was wonderful! The staff was very welcoming and helpful, with a special nod to Gabriella at the front desk and also the rooftop pool and breakfast wait staff. The view from our room was spectacular.
When we return to Sorrento we would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing break at lovely hotel
Pros:

Lovely stay at this hotel which I'd chosen after much research on Tripadvisor. The hotel is in a good location, just a 15 minute wall up hill from the centre, although the pavement is very narrow. Hotel rooftop pool was lovely, plenty of sunbeds, pool bar serving drinks and snacks and wonderful views. We ate in the hotel 4 nights out of 7 on our 1/2 board booking. The food was good, typically a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and puddings. We stayed in the annex rooms with a small balcony out front. These don't get the sun other than early morning. The rooms are fine although the walls are very thin and you can hear people talking / tv's in the adjacent rooms. The hotel decor is quite rustic and the staff were all very pleasant. Bar drinks prices were reasonable, 6 Euros for beer, 11 for cocktails and 30 for a bottle of wine. We were only in the hotel in the evening for 1 night and there was some live music in the bar area.

Excellent Hotel with Stunning Views
Pros:

From arrival to departure this hotel was excellent in every aspect. First and foremost the staff at this hotel are fabulous. Kind, friendly and very helpful. The view from our room (sea view with balcony) was exceptional with a vista across the bay of Naples to mount Vesuvius. Breakfast was continental self service with plenty of fresh and local options with the addition of eggs and bacon to order . Dinner was a la cart for b&b guests . There was plenty of choice and the food, wine and service were to a high standard. Lunch on the terrace looking over the bay was a delight. The pool bar served a good lunch menu and a broad selection of beverages. Food and drinks were priced fairly for a hotel in Sorrento . The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento down a slight gradient. The walk back was comfortable as the gradient is slight . The taxis to and from the town are very expensive at between €23-28 so walking was our option on most occasions. The views on the way are stunning.
The hotel is built into a hillside and is decorated with stylish antique style furniture with bright colours and the rooms are equally as bright . ( hotel photos represent this clearly ) The hotel was immaculately clean and well maintained throughout. This hotel was a fantastic base to explore the area with wonderful staff and we would not hesitate to return in the future .

A lovely hotel in Sorrento with incredible views
Pros:

Views that are unmatched overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The rooms were large and very clean and comfortable. The balcony was spacious with two chairs and a table. The included breakfast was plentiful and other meals at the restaurant were delicious. What really impressed us were the staff who were friendly and efficient and couldn’t do enough for you. Walk into town took about ten minutes downhill. Of course coming back meant uphill but not bad even for us seniors. Overall, highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
