Loved everything about this hotel! The location, the views, the staff, the room, the breakfast, the rooftop pool - everything was first class!
N/A - loved everything about Hotel Minerva

Costs of drinks and maintenance issues
Everything
Nothing
This was our first trip to Sorrento and we loved the trip and our week in the Hotel Minerva.
Our trip had been a bit stressful and being dropped off by the bus on the main road was a bit disconcerting as you enter and then take a lift up 5 floors to reception- but once you arrive and see the view all of the stresses of the journey fade away!
We were checked in quickly and the room was lovely - bigger than average hotels - good air conditioning and with a balcony that had a view over the Bay.
We had booked Half Board and so we used the restaurant many times and found all the staff to be helpful and on top of things. Eating breakfast looking out over to Vesuvius and the wider Bay was a highlight every day.
The food was pretty good and we always had options from the menu and the Lasagne was fantastic.
The roof pool area is nice and was never too busy and the bar / snacks up there were a good option.
The hotel is about 10min walk down the hill into Sorrento - the path is narrow but that walk is fine for most people. For us it worked as it was close enough with being further up the hill and being reliant on ‘shuttles’ - and being up from the centre gives you the view!
The breakfast buffet provided a great selection of food including bacon and eggs. The waitresses were very attentive. Great scenery from the outside dining area. Views from the balcony room were incredible. Perfect location with a supermarket and restaurant within 5 minutes walking distance.
Nothing
This property is slightly outside of the main strip for Sorrento, but in easy access to walk. We had the most amazing room (303) it had an incredible view over Sorrento, the room was really big, with a separate dressing room and bathroom. The hotel is not conventional in layout, but this adds to the delightfulness, the breakfast/dining area is wonderful, overlooking Sorrento. The staff were extremely attentive. The pool is really nice and on the roof top with great views.

Awesome view of the bay and ocean from the different floors of the hotel , very convenient location, good quality service 24 hours excellent staff service very helpful and kind , ocean view rooms with balcony and very clean and confortable , really nice pool with ocean view , restaurant offer really delicious food and bar service really good drinks plus live music at night gives a really nice atmosphere.... parking valet service if you have a car with you and shuttle ... and also they offer tour services that is convenient. Definitely a excellent option to stay if you want to spend quality time and enjoy your vacations ...
Very authentic Italian.
Perfect location with the most beautiful view of Sorrento from the cliff side.
That we had to leave
My wife and I had a great 10 night stay at the Minerva Hotel. Nobody could possibly doubt the spectacular panoramic views looking beyond Sorrento and beyond.
First of all we have to praise all the staff from the front desk to the house keeping! Everyone was so friendly, approachable and accommodating.
Special mention to Alessandro, Antonio and Alfonso and the dining room team. I never really got all their names from the front reception but they always smiled and acknowledged us on arrival or departure.daily!
This was our second visit to Sorrento and we selected the hotel because it offered us a place to retreat too, away from the centre after excursions of day trips to Positano & Naples as well as a haven too enjoy the serene tranquility of the evening that its 5th floor verandah, balconies and pool offered when the sun was hot!
Would we come back.....FOR SURE!!!
Everything was perfect
Despite the fact that the hotel is a bit old, everything worked perfectly
Hotel Minerva charges 4-star prices but, in our experience, delivered a stay that was far below 4-star standards. I have traveled all around Europe and lived in Italy for years, yet never have had such a poor experience.
The views are absolutely stunning, the pool area is beautiful, and several staff members were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by numerous issues during our stay.
The biggest problem was the air conditioning. Despite setting the room to the lowest temperature, the room remained extremely hot for the first several nights. We repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat and slept very poorly. We requested a fan multiple times and were ignored until our third request at approximately 11 PM, after we had already spent several nights uncomfortably hot. We were eventually provided a second room key so the air conditioning could continue running while we were out, only to have it taken away again a few days later.
The room was also located near the elevator, and the constant noise from the elevator moving up and down could be heard from inside the room.
Housekeeping was another major disappointment. Staff entered and cleaned the room despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. On one occasion, we returned to find our room door left wide open with nobody present, which raised serious concerns about security and privacy. Clothes were inexplicably placed in the bidet during cleaning, and basic amenities such as shower soap were not consistently refilled.
The bathroom ventilation fan did not work, which meant every shower turned the bathroom into a steam room. The only way to clear the steam was to open the bathroom door and make the already warm room even hotter.
Finally, while the views are spectacular, prospective guests should know that the hotel is located quite far from the center of Sorrento and requires a significant uphill walk back to the property, which can be particularly difficult during the summer heat.
Overall, while the scenery is exceptional, the repeated issues with air conditioning, housekeeping, room comfort, and service prevented this from being an enjoyable stay. Given the price point, we expected significantly better.
The views are absolutely stunning and the pool area is beautiful. Several staff members were also kind and helpful throughout our stay.
The air conditioning was the biggest issue. Despite being set to the lowest temperature, our room remained extremely hot and we repeatedly woke up drenched in sweat. We had to ask three times before finally receiving a fan at 11 PM, and a second room key provided to keep the A/C running was later taken away.
Housekeeping also entered our room despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. On one occasion we returned to find our room door left completely open with nobody present, which raised serious concerns about security and privacy. Clothes were placed in the bidet during cleaning, and basic amenities such as shower soap were not consistently refilled.
The room was near the elevator and the noise could be heard throughout the day and night. The bathroom ventilation fan also did not work, causing the room to become hot and humid after every shower.
Finally, while the views are beautiful, the hotel is quite far from the center of Sorrento and the uphill walk back can be difficult, especially in the summer heat.
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Minerva! We received a warm greeting, were shown to a beautiful room and enjoyed enjoyed every moment at the hotel! The breakfast was lovely. Appertivo on the terrace was delightful. Easy walk from the hotel to Piazza Tasso. The rooftop pool was an extra bonus for relaxing after a day of exploring. I highly recommend Hotel Minerva for your stay in Sorrento! We will definitely stay there again!
Just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Minerva. Staff were so friendly , nothing was a trouble. The hotel was spotlessly clean . We were half board, food was delicious .
We had a sea view room with balcony, wow the views .
Like others state the walk into town is reached via a narrow path on a busy road, but didn’t cause us any problems
