Good location for Paris weekend
Pros:

Very good location, close to everything! Breakfast was also very good, clean room, friendly staff. Nice new renovated parts. Will be excellent once finished renovations. We were not disturbed by the renovation.

Terrible, monotonous construction noise every single day!

As an added “bonus,” there was a cynical receptionist who falsely claimed that the €150 deposit requirement was mentioned on Booking.com. We explained that if a deposit is required, guests should be informed in advance. However, she still insisted on charging it, claiming it was necessary in case we took water from the minibar and left without paying!

A person may somehow tolerate noise — although why should they have to? — but cynical and disrespectful staff should not be working with guests

Pros:

The location is good, close to several metro stations. We visited during the 2026 heatwave and the air-conditioning was fantastic and much appreciated. The street outside is busy and lively, with some great restaurants, and a sports bar on the corner. Our room on the 5th flood was not super loud, even during the world cup matches. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment at the time, so there was some occasional building noise, the main entrance was closed and we came in through a side entrance etc. Staff were all extremely professional, friendly, helpful. We had a small problem with the room and they sorted it almost immediately. Breakfast is basic and a small selection, but good quality, with nice coffee, some hot food (eggs, sausages, bacon, crepes, pancakes), fruit, local yoghurt, basic cereals, a few types of bread. The hotel always had iced water with lemon/mint/cucumber ready in the lobby, which was always appreciated when coming back after a long hot day out. The bathroom is very nice and newly refurbished. The balcony is nicely situated, and is long and thin, with a couple of chairs.

Cons:

The Mathurin suite has been recently refurbished and looks quite nice, but is still fairly small. I assume most rooms in central Paris are tight, but in all honesty, calling it a "suite" is probably an exaggeration. There is a reasonable bedroom, a small room adjacent with a sofa (sofa bed). If you open the sofa bed, there is no space for suitcases in that room.
