Food was good, and staff were most helpful
The bedrooms could do with a little TLC
Staff were friendly. Good location and value for money.
Julie and the rest of staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble.
Furniture was a little dated
Lovely homely cosy friendly hotel with Julie being a very friendly attentive host who went the extra mile to make us feel welcome, our room was lovely and clean with a lovely comfortable bed we had great nights sleep, breakfast and evening meal lovely plentyful and hot, great location just short 10 minute walk into town, we had a lovely 2 night stay and will definetely stay again.
Nothing negative to say.
Location is OK, we chose it for being central to the area that we were visiting. Fortunately, the room we were given was at the back of the property, away from the road.
Food was OK, nothing special.
The general codition of the outside of the hotel, car park and pub-garden / kids play area (lots of weeds and weathered & worn woodwork) and the general decor (outside & inside) are in need of some TLC.
The rooms are looking quite tired now - furniture, carpets and the dark gray paint do not help at all. Needs some investment of elbow grease, time and some money to bring it back to a good standard.
Once we'd turned all the lights on so we could see where things were, as the walls are so dark, we saw all the hand prints, splashes on the walls and cobwebs, so the cleaning wasn't great, and the cleaner didn't refresh the milk cartons on the Saturday, but we were able to drink black coffee at least....
Unfortunately for the staff, during a family party function in the garden room on the Saturday evening, the food ordering system for the "restaurant" suffered a glitch, and whilst the staff tried to explain, it didn't really help the dining experience. It was fortunate it was not busy at all.
Then the shower control handle came off in our hands soon as we touched it, needing one hand to hold it on whilst turning it with the other. The shower screen did not seal on the bath at the hinge nearest the wall, and there was a large puddle of water in the middle of the bathroom floor when I got out of the shower...
The window catch had been fitted with the incorrect size window stay, so it wouldn't stay open.
Nice hotel and good easy accessible location just off the M6,
Very attentive staff and good breakfast.
Good price
No Aircon and supplied fans ( which we requested an extra) were cheap and not powerful enough to make any difference ( temps outside were mid 30’s and the room seemed hotter!
Hotel is tired and needs a lot of work, generally clean but windows in the room were really poor, dirty and rotting.
Bed not that comfy, furniture very old and dated.
WiFi not very good with constant disruption ( very poor phone signal in area so we’re relying on WiFi. )
Location
Asked multiple times with help for WiFi kept getting told someone would come to room, no one ever did 3 times
Very good beeakfast
Sometimes room cleaning service could have been better.
Very clean and lovely that water was in the room and biscuits as a snack
The TV did not work it ruined my stay as part of my pleasure was ro watch TV in bed. I reported it to a staff member but nothing got done so it was miserable stay
Friendly and caring staff and got a free room upgrade
Nothing
Good location, although on main road . Pub/ bar area nice although £19 for a single gin and tonic and glass of wine . No wonder the place was empty !
Had booked a room with a river view , no river view so asked to move , was given another room that supposedly had a river view , still no river view !.. As shown in pictures ! ….. Should not advertise rooms with river views if they don’t have them !….. All communal areas and rooms very dark . Scruffy outside area . Staff member who actually told us “he didn’t care because he is due to leave “. was arrogant and critical of young guy behind the bar who was doing his best and had only been there for 2 weeks…. Tired hotel that seems to be doing the minimum to just survive . Would not stay here again
Good location, convenient for motorway. Very pleasant staff (reception and bar)
Austere room. Peacocks outside the room calling at 5am! Very long wait for dinner (though the staff were full of apologies).
Large pub style accommodation
I booked dinner. Received a reminder email. Went down for dinner and there was no dinner available. Evidently no meals served in the evening on a Sunday despite my booking and the reminder. I had to walk into town to eat
Breakfast was meagre. No offer of anything other than a sparse continental. I might have missed this when I booked
