Residence Inn by Marriott Whitby

Had booked 2 rooms for the family for Aug 29th-30th. One room NO working A/C, another room that had blood ALL over carpet, on the toilet, the door and even the phone! Keep in mind this was supposed to be for my family so my kids saw all of this!! They switched rooms claiming it was "probably hair dye."
Been trying to get at least the one room refunded for the price I PAID ($253) as that was utterly disgusting.. and the best they will do is 20% of the NIGHTLY rate. Called them today Sept 9th and told them if I do not get the full room cost ($253) I will be putting reviews. After days and days of back and forth I was told the best they could do would be 25% ($63) and that would ONLY be if I don't post to social media!
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL! STAY AWAY!!! READ ALL REVIEWS!.

The breakfast had good options, but the coffee was not great.

Breakfast was too chaotic. There isn't enough room to move around as the buffet is a small area. Coffee was awful and Luke warm.

A dog across the hallway barked everything someone came in and out the exit. Very annoying.

Unfortunately, the Sleep Couch was very uncomfortable and was not prepared upon arrival.

My check-in experience was extremely disappointing.
Before arriving, I had prepaid my stay through Booking.com using PayPal because I knew I would not have sufficient available credit on my credit card. However, when I arrived around 11:00 p.m., the front desk agent insisted that the hotel had not received payment and repeatedly questioned my payment method, despite me showing proof of payment and explaining several times that I had paid through PayPal.
Rather than contacting a manager or Booking.com to investigate, she instructed me to step away from the front desk and resolve the issue myself. After nearly 30 minutes of calls between myself, Booking.com, and the hotel, it was finally confirmed that my reservation had indeed been paid.
I was then asked to provide a credit card for the security deposit. I explained that I had limited available credit, which was the reason I had prepaid the stay in the first place. When my card was declined, the staff member appeared visibly annoyed and made me feel embarrassed rather than supported. Eventually, she agreed to process a smaller deposit amount that fit within my available credit limit.
My issue is not with the hotel's policies. Hotels are entitled to establish whatever policies they deem appropriate. My concern is with the way the situation was handled. A little empathy, professionalism, and problem-solving would have gone a long way. Instead, I was left feeling unwelcome, frustrated, and humiliated.
I seriously considered leaving and finding another hotel, but I had already prepaid for my stay and was too exhausted to start over elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was a very poor first impression and not the level of customer service I would expect from a hospitality business.

Both the door to the bathroom and the door of the room itself were very sticky in their frames. Difficult to open or close one-handed, impossible to do quietly without making a bunch of noise and waking everyone else up. The fact that there are only 2 EV charging cables means I was only able to plug in 1 out of 3 days, and not the night I really needed to get to 100% for the drive back home. Had to run over to the fast charging station across the street for that. Finally, the wifi was kind of spotty off in the corner of the hotel we were in, and we had some trouble connecting before we realized my first name had been entered as the last name for the booking. These are all admittedly very minor complaints.

No room refresh unless you were staying 3 days, but only on the second day. Two days no refresh.

- Le lendemain matin, refus de nous remettre une facture au motif que la réservation avait été effectuée via Booking.com.
- Refus de rattacher mon compte Marriott à mon dossier, au motif que la réservation avait été effectuée via Booking.com.
- Personnel à l’accueil peu orienté vers le service à la clientèle, voire limite antipathique.
- Heureusement que nous n'y avons passé qu'une seule nuit.

J’ai choisi cet hôtel car il y avait des bornes de recharge électrique.
Il y en avait que 2, ok!
Les gens laissent brancher toute la nuit alors que vers 2 ou 3h leur voiture est chargée et à 10h le matin elle est encore branché, aucun respect pour les autres! Je n’ai pas pu charger ma voiture quand j’avais besoin.
Il faudrait mettre un temps surveillée.
