When we drove up to the hotel and walked inside we thought we were in Vegas. The outside and statues were beautiful. When we went upstairs we noticed the carpet was worn. When we got to our room it was bare minimum. No phone, no chair, no ice bucket. TV didn’t work but someone came and fixed it. The price was the cheapest around and we just needed a bed to sleep.
This Hotel had my family and I waiting 45 minutes just for an airport pickup and it never arrived. Time and time again we called to be met with no response until we called from different phones. Truly abysmal customer service which led us to ultimately cancel our reservation.
First room, Paper stapled hotel room key holder, no TV remote and peeling wallpaper and broken furniture..
Second room, keys folded in a "rules" paper, little less wallpaper and trim falling off, TV doesn't work at all..
Third room, just keys in hand, TV works with remote, hot tub a bit broken, but doable...
All in all, WTF happened to Garden Place Hotel??
Used to be the most romantic place in WNY!!!
So many laughs though.
The hotel itself is kitschy and outdated. The breakfast consisted of defrosted pastries, bread, cereal, and boiled eggs—nothing special, but not the main reason for my review.
My biggest issue was with the staff. We had a problem with a lost item, and the reception staff were rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help. They refused to investigate the issue or put me in contact with a manager or anyone else who could assist us. Their lack of professionalism and customer service was extremely disappointing. Had the staff been more helpful, I likely would not have felt the need to leave a negative review.
This hotel is in need of a serious update, appears to be stuck in the 50's. The furniture, what there is of it, is cheap and beat up, no deration on the walls whatsoever. . The room was dark with very little lighting available. No carpeting on the floor and a postage size TV with no local channels. For $200 per night I certainly would expect more upscale, (they even take a security deposit) like you're some type of criminal element. The breakfast was cold cereal and bagels. Pass on this place and if you are looking for some Salvatore elegance drive a few miles up the road and stay at Russ Salvatore's.
Horrible experience. Front desk was rude. Directions to the room lead us on a mile long hike up a flight of stairs and then back the same mile. Room was clearly not cleaned, see photos.
Aging rooms, sad breakfast, terrible Wi-Fi. If you can, spend your money elsewhere.
On June 30th, we arrived late from Canada for an early flight scheduled out of Buffalo. The hotel was more than to be expected. Very clean and comfortable room, easy and quick check in, etc. Laquitta at the front desk, made us feel as if we had been there before and expedited our keys to make sure we could get some rest prior another another long day. She made sure our wake up call was made, which gave us plenty of time for a very nice warm breakfast. Furthermore had pre-arranged for courtesy shuttled to be prompt. Oh, she gracefully, explained that we could leave our vehicle safely parked on the premises for a nominal fee, allowing us to avoid looking for any long term parking near that airport. Just outstanding.
On our return to stay a night before heading back to Canada, you guessed, Super Laquitta was there to great us and this time, I believe we had an upgrade to our room, that overlooked the "garden". At the time, I was missing a personal item and due to the hour, could not feasibly venture to find a replacement. I don't know how Laquitta was able to summon a fix to my problem, but it was certainly above and beyond here duties.
Lastly, on our check out the following day, which we were provided with a late checkout, was just as pleasant. Bindu was at the front desk at the time and apparently, no employee wants to be outdone, for when Bindu found out we were looking at a trek back into Canada, she took it up herself to search the easiest way for us to avoid any possible traffic and avoid Niagara Falls tourism entrance. A blessing in disguise for we had planned to add the extra 40 min of what can be bumper-to-bumper in that area. Can't say enough about these two except that they made our stay all the more comfortable. Nice hotel, quiet area (considering the prox to the airport), over the top service. If anything, we will visit again in hopes they are working during our stay. Thanks again, John H
Good place to stay near airport and city, enjoy the ambiance and cool place.
Looks great from a distance, but very poor from the car park into the hall it gives you a taste of the horror within!
My advice would be just don't bother! The staff are rude and unhelpful, the rooms are shabby and uncomfortable
Stay away from this place. There is a ton of mold in the bathroom, no WiFi and little to no lights in the room.
We've admired this property for years while passing through, but our first and only stay was a real disappointment.
Indifferent staff and a property in rough condition made our stay feel more like a necessity than something we wanted to do. The hotel is very convenient to Interstate 90 and nearby sightseeing attractions, and our room was clean (if not in poor repair). But the lack of hospitality and the damaged hallways, stairwells, and room fixtures really detracted from our stay.
The extravagant decor belies the almost-tense atmosphere of the hotel. Front desk staff were not welcoming and certainly not helpful when there was an issue with the hot water. The telephone in the room did not work, nor did two of the lamps. Hallways had torn-off moulding, open junction boxes, and damaged walls.
Sleep was dictated by the noise on Transit Road, as our room was about as close as one could get to the roadway. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.
If price and proximity to the Interstate are your only considerations, the Garden Place Hotel might suit your needs. (Travelers beware: the hotel charges a $150 security deposit; very telling of the kind of experiences they've had.)
Amazing service! Clean and quiet. Would definitely come back!
Amazing as always! Our romantic home away from home. Staff is always so friendly and helpful. Rooms are so intimate and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was divine. Love the ambience and will absolutely be back to see tje renovations!
Very misleading pictures wouldn't recommend to anyone. Stains in hallway, unsafe feeling with windows open on 2nd floor no screens, no cameras in parts of hallway, jacuzzi , bathroom and carpeting appears warn and unclean. Unable to sleep sat up until flight since less than 18 hrs from check in. Since I requested to change rooms but the other room door lock was compromised so I stayed, prayed and left.
Staff was great, Room was very clean, location was perfect…lots of things to do, places to eat and shop, and right off the Thruway.
We have never experienced anything like we did at this hotel last night. My fiancée got essentially no sleep because our nextdoor neighbors were playing loud music, talking/arguing in raised voices, and clearly doing drugs and smoking weed -- all night long. I called to the front desk, and they came and told them to keep it down, but it only helped for a few minutes. These people had apparently booked the hotel just to stay up all night doing questionable things. It was absolutely remarkable.
This is a non-smoking hotel, supposedly, but the whole floor reeked so badly of smoke and weed it made us nauseous. And it seems that management is just letting it go.
In general also, the hotel has gone way downhill since I was last here 7-8 years ago. Breakfast is gone, the hallways and floors are filthy, everything is peeling and creepy, and you just get a generally dirty, uneasy vibe. The lobby chandelier and what's left of the garden decor are like lipstick on a pig. The hotel is in disrepair.
The front desk lady was very nice in check-in and when I had to come back for a second and third time because we were given the wrong room type and then our keys for the new room didn't work.
It wasn’t a good experience at all. The bar wasn’t operating because they didn’t have their liquor license. The hallways and ceilings looked horrible. The room was outdated. They didn’t even bother to make the bed properly. The sheets were inside out. We booked a suite.
I stayed in this facility 4 working days a week for 3 weeks in a row now on a business trip. It is a great place and I enjoyed staying there and attending to my work . I will be staying for 10 more weeks for 4 nights a week in this winter. Hopefully it will be of same service and quality. Looking forward.
Decided to upgrade to the Empress Suite.
Pretty sure Ron Jeremy filmed something here. It was tacky and old from the walk in minute. Over 8 mirrors not including the entire mirrored toilet area. Green tub, brass fixtures, old carpet, dirty dusty old decor.
0 maid service, 0. you turn on a teeny tiny light for maid service, they come down the hall, ask you what you need and hand it to you, even after 4 nights...nothing.
