Beautiful surroundings, hotel lovely, staff helpful.
Booked room with a bath, got a shower. Big orange stain on carpet which I noticed was on a previous review, just not what we expected for the price. Food not that good either . Disappointing

We were attempting a wedding nearby. The hotel is very old and rickety. Very quirky on the way to the old bedrooms floors sloping every where 😅
It's clean and tidy.
Great reception inner seating area near the bar. Very comfortable. Bed was wonderful 😊
Outside steps need to be swept clean especially the red carpet.
Be careful of steps up to the front door very uneven surfaces due to their age and wear over the years.
The property was presented lovely, was impressive on the local backdrop, great parking, well located, all the staff we encountered were super lovely, the room was perfect, and the breakfast was fabulous. Given the opportunity to return to the general area in future, I should definitely be looking this lovely hotel as my first choice, subject to availability. Tired, badly stained and scruffy state of the carpet in the bedroom.
Shower room was very small with access to the toilet being very restricted.

Beautiful setting, grounds were stunning in June when all trees were in blossom.
Old part of building was lovely, lots of character. Rooms tastefully decorated.
Pre wedding set dinner menu was good value and quality.
We got one of the smaller rooms/bathrooms, so a bit of a squash when trying to get ready for a wedding.
Breakfast was plenty of choice and it was lovely and hot staff friendly , dinner was fine they changed the menu last week but it wasn’t as good as before , the pate was served on a hard brussetta roll which would been better with oatcakes as it was as hard that I couldn’t eat it , the chicken dish was piri piri and disappointing , it was a pity they didn’t still have the balmoral chicken with potatoes and vegetables but this was only available if you were on a pre booked for pre weddings otherwise it was fine
Being wakened at 2am with fire due to someone having a shower the steam set it off maybe a notice on the bathroom door saying to keep it closed while showering and use deodorant sprays and hairspray in the bathroom away from the detector , as they are so sensitive nowadays as it was a bit unsettling after that
