The refurbished restaurants were good and all staff were excellent; friendly, helpful and professional
The hotel is in a state of reconstruction and refurbishment. we understood from an email from the property the pool facilities would not be ready and not open however the extent of building and construction work and building workers on the site was a real surprise. The first room offered as Deluxe room with terrasse was unacceptable and the terrasse was part of the building site. The second room offered was not Deluxe and was unfinished with many (15 we noted) faults after refurbishment yet to be sorted. After the first night we were moved to a Deluxe room with Terrasse that met our requirements and original booking. The Hotel manager was helpful to arrange the room move.
THE NICI New Forest is a beautiful, modern hotel with stylish rooms, excellent facilities and a relaxed luxury atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay, and the hotel itself is one of the nicest we visited during our trip.
However, if you’re looking for peace and quiet, it’s worth knowing that many of the lodges face each other with only a small shared lawn in between. We found the rooms to be surprisingly noisy, and during the evening several families gathered outside, with children shouting and playing around the outdoor hot tubs. The noise carried very easily between the lodges.
We contacted reception late in the evening but unfortunately couldn’t get through, and our follow-up email afterwards was never answered.
Lovely hotel, amazing staff
Nothing not to like
Reservation was cancelled 2.5 hours before check-in, after we were contacted and advised the indoor / outdoor pool was not open. Martha’s restaurant was not ready / open and also the deluxe 2 bed apartment with seaview and deluxe 1 bed apartment where not available due to ongoing maintenance. Booked this a month prior for my father’s 70th birthday celebrations, extremely upsetting experience for us.
space
It’s a beautiful property. The pool area was really nice and our apartment was incredibly spacious. Bed was really nice and comfy and the staff was super helpful and friendly.
Outdated furniture and there was a really strong smell in our apartment that wasn’t nice. The shower also needed some TLC.
Pool and sports facilities were excellent, two bedroom apartment was extremely comfortable.
My wife found the bed mattress to be uncomfortable.
Facilities
Common area of apartments looking tired. Common area carpet needs hoovering.
I stayed in a hotel room at Elmer's Court the previous week, and found it very comfortable, especially enjoying the excellent shower at the end of a long day, but I wanted to bring some of my own food and as the hotel room didn't have a fridge I tried a room with kitchenette instead. The comparison was really disappointing. However the good points were that there is lots of space and I was able to make my own food, and it was quiet.
The cold water mains pressure was too low although the hot water was ok, so to get a warm temperature, not scalding, the hot water tap had to be turned down, and the result was just a trickle. The fridge froze my food, so I had throw some of the salads. The block, Henry Tudor, is the most unattractive building on the site, and in comparison to the up to date furnishings and function of the hotel rooms, this was really disappointing. I would have asked to be transferred to a hotel room, except that I had brought food for the stay and didn't want it to all go to waste. The leisure centre facilities were good, but even more than the previous week the changing room floors were grubby by the evening and really needed more regular hosing down. (The apartment itself was perfectly clean though). The steam room, out of use the week before, was still not up and running. It was not a fun experience, and I would avoid the Henry Tudor rooms if I were to stay here again.
Lovely tudor appearance- grand entrance. Allocated parking space. Room to lock bikes. Lovely heated pool and sauna. Beautiful views to water at end if lawn. Spacious self catering apartment.
Steam room out of order. Self catering property very dated in decor and smelled musty.
