Travellers with mobility issues: beware!
Pros:

The place is charming and I especially liked the tower where we watched a sunset. The included breakfast was also nice as was the pool. Beds were comfy; room and facilities were clean.

Cons:

Booked this with absolutely no warning that it is not ADA compliant (presumably grandfathered in when ADA passed). There are irregular steps everywhere and absolutely no way to avoid them. It would be pretty impossible in a wheelchair and was difficult for me as an older person with bad knees.
The hotel fashions itself as a beach locale and even provides nice beach bags, towels and would provide a packed lunch to go to the beach. However, the beach is really not very accessible. Since the hotel is on a very busy road, you have to walk several blocks to a crosswalk then once you cross, you must go down a really steep hill and then down some steps in order to get to the beach.. They say it's a 10-minute walk but keep in mind you're expected to tote a big bag with towels and lunch and whatever else you want at the beach. Though the ocean views are nice, beach access is cumbersome.
I thought it was weird that an arugula salad and a charcuterie are both on the breakfast menu, though there are other more typical breakfast options and the breakfast was fine.
I was not fond of the decor in general though the buildings all had their own charm despite that.

Wonderful celebration of 25 years of marriage with supportive and friendly staff!
Pros:

Wonderful on-site massage. Excellent, professional and relaxing service for individuals or couples. Breakfast was wonderful and provided a variety of options. Welcome drink and champagne with spa treatment was a nice touch.

Cons:

Parking is challenging between the pillars below the historic building. Might be easier to take Ubers in and around town, particularly if celebrating, but that's liberating.

Baby Moon
Pros:

My wife and I recently stayed at Casa Laguna, and from beginning to end, the experience was phenomenal. We discovered the hotel by accident because its beautiful design reminded us of our honeymoon destination on the Amalfi Coast in Praiano. At the same time, it has a distinct California mission-style charm that makes it feel truly special.

We stayed in the Capistrano Suite, which was extremely clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever slept in—especially important since my wife is nine months pregnant!

What made our stay truly memorable, however, was the service. Kimmie went above and beyond for us and was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our visit. Hailey gave us such a warm welcome at check-in and thoughtfully made sure my wife could still participate in the experience by providing her with a nonalcoholic welcome drink. That small gesture meant so much to both of us.

We also want to thank Eric for bringing us our food and making sure everything was prepared and served with care. On one of the days, we decided to stay in and relax, but we had trouble with the television remote. The staff quickly helped resolve the issue, and we ended up having a wonderful, peaceful day enjoying our suite.

A special thank-you also goes to the housekeeping staff for keeping everything so clean and welcoming. We had the pleasure of meeting Troy in person on our final day, and he was just as warm and wonderful as everyone else we encountered.

Casa Laguna gave us the perfect combination of the Amalfi Coast’s beauty, California mission charm, outstanding service, and genuine hospitality. It was exactly the peaceful getaway we needed before welcoming our daughter. We left feeling relaxed, cared for, and already looking forward to returning. We cannot recommend Casa Laguna highly enough!

Disappointing !
Pros:

High price for what is provided. Looks like may be formerly apartment structure that was refurbished. Small pool, very limited area around the pool, tiny carport parking spaces ( took a while to park trying to squize in!). The ocean view that I paid extra for is a joke. No reason to pay more for ocean view if you get to see it only through the small window and only through the common walkway area.

11/10 Honeymoon Retreat
Pros:

This boutique hotel is everything!! We booked our stay using Hyatt points, and we will now be putting this at the top of our list for future vacations! From welcome drinks, to surprise fresh watermelon by the pool, to warm cookies before bed, this hotel makes you feel amazing! Rooms are absolutely adorable, and the gardens you walk through to get to them are just as much of an experience as the stay itself! I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know! I think our favorite part (funny enough) was the chips and salsa. We would stay here JUST to eat that again. Truly some of the best poolside food we've ever had!

A genuine sense of hospitality service
Pros:

Bravo to staff and management of Casa Laguna.
Here, the words hospitality service make sense, by the attention to details, the listening, and the will to do good.
This is THE hotel to patronise in Laguna Beach.

“Beautiful Photos, Disappointing Reality — Avoid This Stay”
Pros:

Disappointing experience at Casa Laguna — not the relaxing getaway we expected
We chose Casa Laguna expecting a peaceful, comfortable, and memorable stay. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below what we expected from a property with this reputation.
The biggest issue was a dog left unattended in a guest room that barked throughout the day and night. We emailed the property that evening to report the issue, but did not receive a response until approximately 12 hours later. The lack of timely action meant we lost valuable time during our stay dealing with constant noise and disrupted sleep.
The power outage was another major issue. We understand that a citywide outage may have been outside the hotel’s control, but the entire property lost power with no backup generator or emergency power available. There was no hot water for showers, and basic services were unavailable. The outage also created a safety concern. Because the outdoor areas and steps were completely dark, my wife could not see where she was walking and struck her toe on the steps, resulting in a large blood blister and a cracked toenail. Because of this injury, she was unable to go on the hikes we had planned during our trip.
There were several additional issues that added to our disappointment:
* The flashlight provided in the room was not working during the outage.
* The room lighting was extremely dim, making it difficult to see comfortably.
* The air conditioning was very loud and did not appear to be functioning properly.
* The bench area outside our room had a strong urine odor, making the outdoor space unpleasant.
* Despite the property’s location, there is no convenient beach access. Guests must drive to find beach parking, which is difficult to find, and then deal with a long walk to reach the beach.
* Highway noise was constant and loud, even inside the room, making it difficult to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere we expected.
Casa Laguna is located in a beautiful area, but a great hotel experience is about more than the scenery. It is about comfort, safety, cleanliness, and how problems are handled when they occur. Unfortunately, our stay did not meet those expectations.

Our Favorite Place in Laguna Beach
Pros:

Casa Laguna is a great place for a relaxing and refreshing getaway. The grounds are filled with beautiful gardens with places to sit and enjoy a meal or beverage. The staff is attentive, friendly, and professional. The rooms are always very clean, and the beds are super comfy. We always like the breakfast and also enjoyed some other food offerings in the evenings. The pool area is so nice with many places to kick back and enjoy the heated pool and soak up the sun. We have stayed at Casa Laguna over 60 times in the past 22 years and always go back.

Special Romantic Place - highly recommended
Pros:

My wife and I stayed at Casa Laguna to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and we loved it! It is such warm, inviting, and romantic place. The rooms, which are on the small side, are nicely decorated and comfortable...cozy! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful with the heated pool and multi-tiered decks overlooking the ocean dream-like. Breakfast is great with multpile options, including sitting out in the garden area. We also had the couples massage with the soaking tub afterward...it was outstanding and the tub with a bottle of bubbly was just perfect for us. Victoria Beach is a short 10 minute walk that gets the heart rate going, but it feels semi-private and is spectacular.

Love this hotel!!!
Pros:

This was my favorite hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time! The property is absolutely gorgeous (pictures don’t do it justice), and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Every hotel we stayed at for the rest of our trip felt like a disappointment because we just kept comparing them to Casa Laguna and wishing we were still there!

What a special hotel! The grounds are magical and remind me of a Mediterranean stay, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the overall experience was so much more than we anticipated. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing, intimate, and special stay. We loved everything from the welcome drink to the nightly cookies to the calm of the staff that contributed to such a relaxing stay. Thank you, staff, for a perfect experience.
