The location and amenities.
Beds are old and squeaky. No TV in room.
This is an old school Mexican resort style property with a restaurant on site. Short walk to the beautiful calm beach. Fairly comfortable once the room cooled off. The breakfast menu at the onsite restaurant is great and the food was really good (not complimentary).
Way overpriced for the offseason. Having to wear a bracelet the entire stay was silly. Who is going to access the property when it's 100 degrees outside? I love the Cape Region even in the summer, but this property had a sort of unwelcoming feel to it. We drove over to Los Barriles and had a great dinner at German's Terrazza, highly recommended. The air conditioning struggled to cool the room for several hours after check in. There was nothing really extra along the lines of a "resort." It's basically a hotel. "Beachfront" is a stretch. Most of the rooms are pretty far from the beach.
We had a wonderful stay! The food was delicious, and the portions were huge. The location couldn’t have been better—right on the beach with a fun pool and wonderfully warm water. While the resort is a bit older, it was clean, comfortable, and full of charm. We’d definitely stay here again!
The resort is older and could definitely use some updating. Our room had cracked floor tiles, and the air conditioning was outdated and not very effective. We were also surprised that only one towel per guest was provided for pool.
The Breakfast was average but the rest of the meals were good to excellent. We went there to relax and enjoy fishing. The staff was excellent, very very clean. Going back next year.
Should of had free transportation into town.
Nice beach and the hot soring fed pool and hot tub.
Very outdated room. Lacking electrical outlets. Cramped space. Not much to do. Overpriced.
Pickleball & the beach
If you are looking for a stay to decompress and do nothing but chill, this is a good spot. Rooms and property are spotlessly clean, bed was super comfortable. A no-hassle environment where you can move about without trouble, sit on the beach under a palapa, borrow a paddle board, go in the pool, etc.
AC in the room blew super cold directly on the bed, could be good or bad, depending on how you like to sleep. The mini-split was old and the directional vents were broken so there was no way to control where the air blew. Shower was plenty hot with decent water pressure.
Front desk woman was super helpful and nice. Always there and ready to help if she could. Grounds were well kept. Garden and housekeeping staff friendly.
The location is truly remote for anything like shops or restaurants. It’s a 10 min drive to Los Barriles where you can find more amenities, but you can’t walk to anything.
I wasn’t that impressed with the restaurant on site. Food was ok but left me wanting to go to town for other options. Also, the waitress asked me if I wanted change back on my bill, implying that she was hoping it would be left as a tip. When I asked for change back, she gave me a bit of stink face. I did leave her a tip, but had wanted to do math first on how much. It left me feeling awkward and uncomfortable.
The pool bar seems to be a locals spot for the ex-pats in the afternoon. It’s also where you can refill your water and get a pool/beach towel. That said, if you’re up early and want a towel for the beach, the bar isn’t open —so plan the day ahead.
Beach was super windy in spring, not enjoyable for lounging. On top of that the local quad bikes and buggies use the beach directly in front of the palapa at the resort to drive around. One of the two mornings I was there a caravan of about 20 side-by-sides went by kicking up dust and exhaust. Adds to the not relaxing/enjoyable beach experience.
Location and grounds
Check in could have been better. While we were early by an hour and half the staff was not helpful with putting bags until room was clean. Given a stern lecture about when check in is. Check out staff was terrific though.
Das Badezimmer war sehr klein und sehr einfach ...
Location on the beach was excellent and made it easy to swim in the Sea of Cortez which was perfect. Also saw some good whale activity from the beach The hot tub was great.
We knew the resort was old and has not had much in the way of renovations so no issue with that. One thing that did disappoint us was that there was no small fridge in our room. We have some dietary concerns and so we brought some special snacks as well as fruit and unfortunately the only way to keep them cool was to get ice from the pool bar. Doing this two to three times a day was a pain. Apparently they do have some rooms with small fridges, but we assumed there would be one in each room.
Love the large hot springs tub.
The bathrooms are smallest ever
Access to the beach was excellent and the pool area lovely. Much nice spot than Los Barilles down the road which is more crowded and developed. The staff showed great pride in working for a long-standing family-run business.
This is not the hotel's fault but I didn't like competing with all the dune buggies and ATVs on the beach.
The breakfast was wonderful and the location excellant.
