I am writing this review to share a very disappointing experience and to warn other guests about taking services of this hotel.
I have stayed at this hotel several times before, and honestly, I have never understood how it maintains a 5-star rating. The facilities feel outdated, the service quality is poor (to say it politely), and for the price charged they serve a very poor quality breakfast.
However, my main point of this review a theft that occurred during my visit on April 24.
That evening, around 7–8 PM, I visited the hotel gym. As many people which stay in Jurmala, might know, there are not so many gyms in this area, which is why I did sometimes visit this hotel.
After paying at the reception, I entered the locker room and stored my clothes, car keys, house keys, and AirPods case in a locker, which I locked using the available code system.
When I returned after my workout, I noticed that the locker door was slightly open. At first, I assumed I may not have closed it properly. However, I immediately noticed that my AirPods case was missing. After searching the entire locker room without success, I became suspicious.
It is worth mentioning that these lockers appear to be extremely old and unreliable. On multiple previous visits, I experienced situations where the code system malfunctioned and lockers could not be reopened normally. Even more concerning, when staff are asked to open a locker, they do not seem to verify ownership or ask what belongings are inside. This creates a serious security risk and is not something guests would expect from a hotel of this category, especially when charging €19 for gym access alone.
After showering, I informed the reception that my AirPods case was missing and asked them to contact me if it was found. At that point, I already suspected it had been stolen.
When I later went to my car, I discovered that both my car keys and house keys were also missing. At that moment, it became clear that I had been robbed.
I immediately returned to reception and requested that security footage be reviewed and that the police be called. After the police arrived, I spent several hours filing reports and assisting with the investigation. During this entire process, hotel management remained noticeably absent. However, I did saw that a director was present on the premises , but she tried to stay away as much as possible.
The consequences were significant. I barely slept that night, since someone now had access to both my vehicle and my home. Of course I had to initiate insurance procedures to replace locks and deal with the stress and inconvenience of securing my property.
What disappointed me even more than the theft itself was the hotel's complete lack of communication afterward. I received no call, no email, and not even a simple apology. Purely nothing.
Eventually, I contacted the hotel myself and spoke with a director who acknowledged being aware of the incident and promised to discuss the matter internally. More than two weeks passed, yet I received no news from her. I called her several times, however, this lady decided that ghosting a client in such case is the best scenario.
I understand that a hotel cannot always prevent criminal acts. However, guests can reasonably expect secure facilities, proper security procedures, and normal communication with at least some steps towards the client.
This post is about a complete lack of client orientation and the most unprofessional behavior from a director that I have ever experienced. Don't know who hires such "professionals".
I genuinely believe this brand does not care about its reputation.
Please think twice when booking this hotel!!!
