A city-center escape that transports you to another place and time.
Pros:

Gorgeous and unique 1929 Julia Morgan architecture with beautiful courtyards and pool. View of the bay. Breakfast was yummy.

Cons:

If you’re expecting a modern room (tv, large, mini-fridge, king-sized bed) you’ll be disappointed. This was fine for us and I felt we’d gone to Europe for the night.

A beautiful historical setting with great service
Pros:

Amazing architecture with a surprisingly cozy feel. Excellent service from the staff. Location is perfect for UC Berkeley events. Liked the included breakfast and the coffee/tea area on the main floor. The restaurant served excellent food and the lounge, with a live pianist on Friday, was a great place to hang out. The beautiful view of the Bay from our room was an unexpected bonus.

Cons:

As expected for an older historical building, some of the spaces around the room and bathroom are small and not enough outlets, but still functional and nice.

Historical lodging in an excellent location with friendly staff.
Pros:

Staff was very friendly. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to UCB and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The building was even more beautiful in person!
