Poolbar sehr freundliches Personal
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and as we booked Citalia, We believed it to be a superior standard hotel. Upon arrival, the hotel had kindly left us a bottle of Prosecco in the room on ice and the balcony gave us stunning views of the coastline. However, there were a number of issues with the hotel which let it down.
The sunbeds are reserved from an early time by guest at the hotel. And often they are not even used until late afternoon, This is not policed by the hotel or the lifeguards. In fact, when I brought it up to reception the hotel receptionist, Stephanie, shrugged her shoulders and said it was not her problem and to speak to a lifeguard.
The quality of the breakfast Is average, the heart selection was lukewarm and not of a great quality, the fruit juices were pre-mixed in a dispensing machine and if you wanted fresh fruit juice you had to pay for this. I believe it is €6 for a glass.
The hotel has signage to say it is a superior quality hotel, and I would disagree after spending the first week on the Amalfi Coast in a four star rated hotel the service and food there was for superior.
In addition if you want to change your pool towel, you have to do this between specified times in the morning and our charge €2 per towel per person per day to do this.
The location is stunning. The views are magical. There are some beautiful restaurants in the village to eat at.
Overall, a disappointing stay. We will go back to Sardinia, but not this hotel.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel although there are a couple of areas which could be improved. All staff were approachable and friendly which ensured a smooth check in. Our sea view room was clean and comfortable with excellent views of the sea and the pool areas of the hotel. Our room had a fridge and efficient air conditioning. We very much enjoyed the gesture of a bottle of prosecco which was in our room on arrival. This hotel is in an excellent location only 5 minutes walk into town where there are many restaurants and bar options as well as a public beach. The supermarket is a good 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Some areas that could be improved include modernisation of the bathroom in our room which felt tired and dated. The plastic chairs on the balcony need upgrading to something more modern and comfortable. Continental breakfast had many options but the hot food selection was limited and poor quality which didn’t change for the duration of our stay. There are not enough sun beds for the amount of guests staying during high season so the only option is to get up early to secure a sun bed. There are many pool options although they are all showing signs of wear and tear. There could be more customer engagement opportunities through additional events such as an evening bbq, cocktail hour and also more variety for live entertainment. Overall we had a nice holiday at this hotel which is in a stunning location with breathtaking views and a lovely private beach, which is the main reasons for the rating. However for us the hotel does feel tired and stuck in a different century so would require significant investment to modernise if we were to stay again in the future.
Posizione ottima, personale gentile e buon cibo
I bagni, troppo datati
This hotel/resort was a highlight for my family and me on our trip. We loved the location, the facilities and the staff. Our rooms were "charming" but comfortable and well equipped. The resort is beautiful! So many pools to choose from and the private beach was spectacular. Breakfast was great. We didnt eat dinner here, but ate lunch at the beach bar most days and the food and service were great. The upstairs bar was a lovely place for an evening drink or night cap. There are lots of restaurants within a short walk, and several options for day-trips/boat trips from nearby Cala Bitta. We loved this resort and would definitely stay here again.
The property has a stunning private beach which is where my husband and I spent most of our time while there. With that being said, that was about the only thing we enjoyed besides the pleasant staff. The pools are nice, but there are a lot of children on property and most of the pools were overran by them. I envisioned this hotel being the perfect base for our explorations of Sardinia, with multiple areas of interest just a short drive away, but the “Taxis” that the front desk books for you cost a small fortune. 40 euros one way for a 10 minute drive. 100 euros one way for anything longer. For this reason, we slashed most of our itinerary because rides alone would have cost us thousands. It is situated next to (6 minute walk uphill) a very cute town with some decent restaurants, but not enough to keep us satisfied for a 6 day trip.
When I come to Italy, I come for FRESH, DELICIOUS food. When we got there our first day, we were very hungry from travel. It was around 11:30am. With a property that boasts multiple restaurants and bars, not to mention for the price they charge per night, you would think this wouldn’t be a problem. The pool bar informed us the only thing available was 2 different types of FROZEN PIZZA. I’m sorry but I don’t come to Italy to eat frozen pizza. Then I learned about the horrendous food situation: 7:30-10:00 breakfast (aka jarred fruit not even fresh, cold cuts, and cold eggs that we couldn’t even choke down). 12:30-2:00 lunch $40 euros per person. And then dinner doesn’t begin until 19:30 and it’s $45 euros per person. So if you’re enjoying the amenities at the “luxury” hotel (which was very outdated) you’re paying for and they aren’t serving during those times, your option is frozen pizza. Coming back from a hot day and need water? Oh walk back out in the heat and down two flights of stairs to get a bottle of water. Ridiculous in my opinion.
Also, the room does not get cold with the “air conditioner”, and our “double bed” was two different mattresses pushed together which they tried to disguise by dressing it as a double bed. The mattresses were COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, and both equally as uncomfortable, so we noticed it right away.
Seems like they’re cutting corners wherever they can and raking in money for their private beach. Everything is an inconvenience or extra charge. They made nothing easy or comfortable.
Fantastic Hotel, just the best location on the Beach as if it is a natural SPA.
The Hotel has old world charm and our room was romantic with great views over the bay which amazed at any time of day with clear, light blue, turquoise and emerald colours.
There is a choice of 6 pools, and 3 coves one having the tiniest romantic beach for two.
There is a large central sandy beach.
There are plenty of Sun loungers with guests gravitating to their preference, by a pool , on the beach or on the cliff shaded by the pines over looking the coves.
Snorkelling a must at the hotel with plenty to see.
We had one excursion the hotel helped us with sailing to the Magdalena Archipelago visiting wonderful beaches with crystal clear waters to swim in, the trip included coffee, apéritif, lunch and fruit and cake later into the afternoon with as much water as you needed only 12 guests on the boat so plenty of space, it was a great day.
We ate at the Belvedere restaurant over looking Porto Cervo, and The Barracuda in Baia Sardinia … sssh ask Elanora if you can’t sit on the roof for a special romantic occasion, great restaurant with great staff including Luigi.
We would also recommend Korale which again has a fantastic roof top with friendly attentive staff and great food.
The Breakfast is Italian so don’t expect an International hotel breakfast catering for an international set, it is very Italian.
But you know what with the location and friendly staff, who needs a breakfast to compensate for a poor location.
Baia Sardinia is safe, stylish, discerning and very civilised.
If you fancy a night out PHI beach is at the end of the bay, look it up and have a great night.
Porto Cervo marina is 7 mins away by the local bus if you fancy buying your Yacht, and you will be spoilt for choice.
The Super Yachts that sail pass daily or anchor in the bay are amazing
Sunsets can bring your day on the beach to a prefect close.
Elena and the whole team at the Hotel made us feel most welcome and we can’t wait to go back….. Ssssh why am I telling everyone how great this.
Our trip was organised by the incredible Roberta Comley of Designer travel.
You just know it is going to feel luxury when the car picking you up from the Airport was a Maybach.
Thank you all we will see you all again “
- Very nice beach, good breakfast, helpful stuff.
- Convenient for walking to Baia Sardinia.
- The casual restaurant across the hotel is very nice for lunches and dinners. (Foodie)
- The furniture in the room was so old that I couldn’t tell whether it was just aged or actually clean.
- Poor wireless connection.
Perfection!
Location and beach
Air conditioning not sufficient
Defo not 4 star... needs to refurb desperately... have stayed in better 3 star hotel rooms... breakfast is beige, fruit and breads and more breads.... no egg station making it very boring day after day. The pools and views are to die for... (but be up early if you want a sunlounger by a pool - the beach isnt so bad).
Just returned from an 11 day break at the hotel. The hotel is designed in a Shabby Chic style which we loved..Great air conditioning and a superb view of the sea..(did pay extra for sea view)..An adequate bathroom with a varying degree of hot water depending on how many other rooms we’re using at the same time.Breakfast was ok with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as the hot options (never changes) and a delicious array of cakes and pastries freshly baked..(if your round the pool early you can smell the baking)..The staff are nice everywhere in the hotel from the reception to the cleaners..A few restaurants and short walk away and a nice pizza and pasta opposite..Only thing I could really moan about was a single toaster for the whole hotel and the coffee which tasted like instant..but was lovely when you bought a coffee at the bar..
We were three ladies cramped into an 'upgraded' double room with an extra camp-type bed pushed in..we asked to be moved but were told the hotel was full..after pursuing this, we were shown a room with an awful view, overlooking a car park ,we felt it was just to shut us up..pool area and view were nice..reception staff quite ignorant and unhelpful.
Ce mi-a plăcut cel mai mult a fost faptul ca hotelul are plaja proprie, care face ca intrarea în mare să fie superbă!!
Este puțin cam vechi, ar putea îmbunățiți puțin băile..
We stayed here for a four nights on a b&b basis. Hotel is lovely and lovely location on the coast. Spacious room with amazing views. Bed on the firm side and we needed extra pillows. Air conditioning was very noisy but needed. Shower above the bath was okay. Appreciated the bubbly and fruit on arrival. Lots of sunbeds/pools but if you go down late morning there is little chance of getting a bed. Not great if you are less mobile as lots of stairs to the pool /beach area. Breakfast was okay really nothing special. Nowhere to fill a water bottle up which is very unusual nowadays. In fact the water machine at breakfast says do not fill them up! We ate out in the evenings, there is a restaurant opposite and the square is about 10 minute walk with loads of restaurants/shops.
We loved the beach we loved the pools, I thought the breakfast was amazing and a great variety of options. I love the balconies and I love the walk-in closet. Also, the grounds of the property was up, kept nicely.
I felt as though the hotel needed a paint job. The rooms were a little dated and small, but that’s expected for Italy. Maybe more pools chairs out for guests on busy days.
Let me start with the positives. The room, bathroom, balcony and all of the hotel's main areas were super clean and very well maintained. While some people may find the décor a little dated, I actually think it adds to the hotel's authentic Italian charm.
The pool areas were never overcrowded, making them incredibly peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The private beach is also a lovely spot, with beautiful views overlooking the bay. The hotel’s in a great location, less than a 10 min walk from the main ‘town’ area so you’re close enough but also can enjoy a quieter spot. You do have to walk up a pretty steep hill either on your way there or back so just keep that in mind! My mum has a dodgy hip and knee so we took it very slow but it is doable!
The reception and bar staff were consistently warm, welcoming and friendly throughout our stay.
That said, I do think the hotel falls short in a few key areas that prevent it from feeling like a true 4-star experience.
The breakfast was particularly disappointing. There were only four hot buffet options, which never changed during our stay, and if you wanted freshly cooked fried eggs, there was an additional charge of €5.50. The restaurant itself also lacked atmosphere and didn't feel especially inviting, so I'm glad we only booked bed and breakfast. Whilst the hotel has two restaurants, one in the main building and the other by the beach, the settings didn’t make use of the beautiful landscape e.g outside space.
Entertainment was another area where the hotel could improve. Aside from a pianist in the evenings, who was great, there was very little else on offer. For a 4-star hotel, I would have expected a wider range of evening entertainment.
A few practical things worth knowing before you visit:
- Pool towel exchanges cost €2 each time.
- When we requested a late check out room, they wanted to charge us €200. There is a shower available in the bar area for guests leaving later in the day, but the facilities are very basic, with only a single shower rather than access to something like spa changing facilities.
- Taxis are extremely expensive. We paid €35 for a seven-minute journey to Poltu Quatu, and journeys after 10pm incur an additional 20% surcharge.
Overall, the hotel has positives, particularly its cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere and beautiful location. However, there are several areas where improvements would make it feel much better value and more in line with its 4-star rating.
Nær stranden, hyggelig personal, rent, vakre omgivelser
Rommet var litt gammelt og slitt og noe lav standard i forhold til prisen. Kjedelig frokost
