The staff was very nice and the rooms clean and comfy
The bathroom door hits your knees if your on the commode, and the door stopper is easily stepped on when preparing the shower. A pocket door would be much better than a hinged door

I don’t often take the time to write reviews unless I feel strongly that an experience—good or bad—is worth sharing. Unfortunately, our stay at Comfort Suites Lady Lake was one of those experiences I feel other travelers should know about.
We booked this hotel last minute through Booking.com while road-tripping from Florida to California. We chose it largely because of its approximately 4-star rating and 8.4 guest review score. Based on those ratings and the mention of significant renovations, we expected a clean, comfortable, updated place to spend the night. That was not our experience.
From the moment we arrived, things felt off. At check-in, the front desk attendant told us we had not paid for our room, even though we explained that Booking.com had already charged our card. She continued to insist that we were mistaken and was about to charge us again when we noticed that she hadn’t even pulled up the correct reservation. We were nearly charged for someone else’s room.
When we got to our assigned room, we were immediately hit with a strong stale, musty mildew odor. My husband is extremely sensitive to mold, and the smell bothered him enough that we knew we couldn’t stay in that room. Upon inspecting the AC unit, we noticed what appeared to be black mold inside the vents, which would explain why the musty odor seemed to be circulating throughout the room.
We also discovered that the freezer compartment in the refrigerator had completely defrosted and water was leaking onto the cabinet and floor around the unit.
We asked to see other rooms. One smelled just as bad as the first, and after checking multiple rooms, my husband finally found one he described as “not as bad.” At that point, we were exhausted from traveling and just needed somewhere to sleep, so we stayed.
We did manage to get a decent night’s sleep, but the next morning things got even worse.

The location was not a good choice for our needs.
The blackout curtains in our room (219), could not be closed!! (No tracking.) Hard to sleep in a room with bright illumination from outside lights.
The tiny pool was too small to swim even short laps.
The Saturday afternoon receptionist was unsmiling and unwelcoming. Not helpful or friendly.
We requested ( in advance, and in writing, twice) a room near the elevator near the elevator and not overlooking a busy parking lot. Reception had no record of it.
