Far from a 5-star experience—poor service, zero hospitality and definitely a hotel we would avoid.
Pros:

Breakfast was the highlight! Good selection and variety of food!

Cons:

We were unfortunately very disappointed with our stay at Hotel Las Arenas, especially given its 5-star positioning.

The biggest disappointment was the hospitality and overall attitude of the staff. We were a group of 10, including four children, and were turned away from the restaurant twice because we had not made a reservation. We fully understand that reservations may be required, but the restaurant appeared to be at no more than 30% capacity, with the majority of tables visibly empty. Despite this, there was absolutely no flexibility or attempt to accommodate us. We were simply told to come back in 45 minutes, when they might have space. The general attitude felt cold, rigid and at times almost superior—as though guests were being done a favour rather than welcomed.

The pool situation was equally disappointing for a family hotel. There are two pools: one large pool where children are essentially only allowed to swim, with playing restricted, and far too few sun loungers for the number of guests. By 10:00 in the morning, practically every lounger was already occupied. The second pool, apparently intended for children, is extremely small and only around 40 cm deep—suitable perhaps for toddlers aged 1–3, but hardly a meaningful alternative for families with older children.

Even more surprising for a 5-star beachfront hotel is that there is no beach service whatsoever. No hotel sunbeds, no umbrellas and no dedicated area for guests. There is simply a side exit leading to the public beach, where you carry your own belongings and hotel towels, try to find a spot on an extremely crowded beach, and hope your things are still there if you leave. If you want water, a drink or anything else, you need to walk all the way back to the hotel pool area.

What disappointed us most, however, was not any single facility or rule, but the overall attitude toward guests.

Pros:

From check in, to check out it was just gorgeous. The room was spacious, clean and had the most beautiful view. The pool was perfection, deep and big and never felt too busy. Excellent location for the beach and for exploring the local area.

Cons:

Honestly, nothing.

Good
Pros:

The hotel is very close to the beach

Cons:

The hotel is very close to a beach club which has very loud music everyday until 3:30 am. Although the room has acoustic protection the music can be heard throughout the night. Also the staff at the breakfast restaurant is not very proactive.
