Beautiful Estate, Even Better People
Pros:

We have had such a wonderful experience at Tarrytown House Estate! We’ve stayed here before, but this time we ended up staying for several days, and I really have to call out how incredible the staff is.

Everyone at the front desk has been amazing. On this stay, we had the pleasure of working with Catherine and Brie for check-in and extending our stay, and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. They made everything so easy for us and were just genuinely lovely to deal with. On a previous stay, we worked with Chiro, who was hilarious, incredibly helpful, and made the whole experience that much more fun. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jake Maas this time, who was incredibly friendly and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. It really says something that every person we’ve interacted with here has been so warm and personable.

Also — do not skip breakfast! The food is incredibly fresh, and the service is fantastic. Aurelia and Sharney were both wonderful, and Sharney somehow remembered our drink orders after just a couple of mornings and would have them ready almost as soon as we sat down. That kind of thoughtful service makes such a difference, especially when you’re staying for several days.

And apparently we aren’t the only ones impressed by the breakfast! One morning we overheard a group who was there for a wedding talking about how the blueberries were the best blueberries they had ever had. They were joking that the blueberries were the most memorable part of the entire wedding weekend and had somehow managed to outshine the wedding itself.

The property itself is also gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful during the day, but I especially love the estate at night. With all of the lights, the whole place is such a vibe.

We have been so happy here. The property is beautiful and the food is great, but the people are really what make it special. The level of service and genuine friendliness we’ve experienced every time we’ve stayed here is rare. We will absolutely be back!

Bring a source of Fresh Oxygen
Pros:

Beautiful facility and amazing grounds. Goosefeather is an incredible restaurant and a well cultivated space.

Cons:

The overwhelming, pungent, clearly ignored odor of mold coming from the carpet and behind the walls was insulting. Charging that much per stay and then forcing us to be subjected to that type of biohazard is shameful.

Great room, quiet, clean and peaceful.
Pros:

Great grounds and nice room that had everything we needed. We had a great night sleep. The gym was nice well equipped and indoor pool are was nice.

Cons:

The pool area could have been updated noting at least 3 broken chairs. The outdoor pool wasn't that clean and there were guests blasting music behaving inappropriately with public displays of affection making it hard to read and relax pool side. Apparently there was only one ice machine in the entire hotel and when I went to the front desk to ask where the ice machines were they tried to fill it up for me at the front desk but that ice machine was broken too. They were very helpful and pleasant and wrote out directions for me to find the one ice machine that was working.

An exceptional experience and room with a nook
Pros:

A Beautiful Stay at Tarrytown House Estate

I had such a lovely first visit to Tarrytown House Estate. I was completely captivated by the history of the property it’s truly fascinating, and I would encourage anyone visiting to take a moment to learn about its history and look at the beautiful photographs throughout the estate. It gives the entire place so much character.

The staff was exceptional from beginning to end. Everyone was so warm, kind, polite, and genuinely accommodating. Everything was handled so promptly and effortlessly. If we needed ice, it arrived right away. If we needed a blanket sent to our room, it was taken care of immediately. The service was simply wonderful.

I also had the pleasure of meeting the Director of Sales, who was such a genuinely nice person, and it was clear that the warmth of the staff reflects the overall atmosphere of the property.

The most meaningful part is our room had a beautiful window nook for reading like we have at home. Love!

I especially want to recognize Cairo at the front desk. He was incredible so professional, attentive, and prompt, and he really stood out during our visit.

Between the beautiful property, fascinating history, incredible staff, and overall experience, this was a truly special stay. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be back!

Pros:

The property is in a beautiful setting on top of a hill with lawns and trees. There are two historic buildings.

Cons:

The rooms themselves are in need of repair. In our room the bathroom sink drain didn’t work - the lever to lower and raise the drain was missing. The remote control for the t.v. Didn’t work. A carpet seam was frayed.

Excellent Stay at the Tarrytown House Estate
Pros:

I had a wonderful 3 night stay at The Tarrytown House Estate. The grounds are simply amazing, complimented with historic architecture and incredible green spaces. I was pleasantly surprised that there was an indoor and outdoor pool along with a sizable gym. The restaurants on site are great as well. The best part was the staff, who were all great and accommodating. Special thanks to Brie who was especially helpful during my stay. I strongly recommend the Tarrytown House Estate for any type of stay.

Lovely, but you may have a long walk
Pros:

The location is beautiful; the grounds are lovely and the breakfast was very nice.

Cons:

The closest parking area was some distance from the building where my room was, and required a walk, plus dragging bags up stairs.

Beautiful grounds and great service, but a disappointing pool experience.
Pros:

The hotel is very beautiful, with plenty of space for walking through well-maintained lawns and grounds. The room was very spacious. Although somewhat dated and still featuring carpeted floors, it was comfortable. The staff was also very accommodating, assigning us a room with a king bed even though that option was no longer available when I made the reservation and I had to book a room with two queen beds. There is also a pleasant outdoor gathering area with several sofas, which makes for a great place to relax during the summer.

Cons:

Be prepared to walk quite a bit, as the parking areas are spread throughout the property and are located far from the check-in entrance. Most of the parking closest to the entrance is reserved for valet service, which felt rather unfair. Our biggest disappointment was the pool. Despite the hotel's vast outdoor space, the pool is surprisingly small, squeezed into a fenced area with limited room and very few chairs or loungers available. When we arrived, there was nowhere to sit, and we had to stand in the sun waiting for a lounge chair to become available. There were also no clean towels available.

To make matters worse, the pool closed at 6:00 PM, even though there were still about two hours of daylight left during the summer. Far too early for a pool to close.

The poolside bar is very small, tucked into a corner, with limited and overpriced food and beverage options.

A property of this size deserves a larger pool area with more lounge chairs, more umbrellas, and a more open, spacious design rather than being surrounded by tall fences.
