I would give Hotel Bristol Avignon zero stars if Google/Booking.com allowed it. I strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel, particularly during warm weather.

My wife and I specifically booked a three-night stay for two people through Booking.com in a room advertised with air conditioning. Air conditioning was an important condition of our booking, and we chose the hotel on that basis.

Upon checking in, the front desk outright accepted our money for the three night stay with no warning that the airconditioning was not functioning. We were surprised when we went to our rooms that the air conditioning was not working.

I immediately went downstairs and raised the issue with the check-in manager, Jeremy. He informed me that the problem was not limited to our room—the air conditioning for the entire building was not working. He said it would be repaired, but when I asked the obvious question—when would it be fixed?—he simply said he didn’t know because he wasn’t the technician.

I explained that we were staying for three nights and that we had specifically reserved an air-conditioned room. Rather than showing concern or offering a reasonable solution, Jeremy responded by essentially shrugging off the problem and smirking, saying that he was also working in the hotel without air conditioning.

That response was particularly disappointing. We were not asking for anything unreasonable. We simply expected to receive the basic amenity that we had specifically booked and paid for.

The situation became even worse.

Because we had paid for the three nights in full in cash, I asked whether we could cancel the reservation without penalty and receive our payment back so that we could find another hotel with functioning air conditioning.

Jeremy initially told us that we would have to deal with Booking.com regarding cancellation.

This was extremely problematic because Booking.

Superb location
Pros:

Superb location walking distance to train station and bus station. We'll located inside the walls so convenient to walk and dine. Rooms wooden floor big enough for 3pax

Cons:

Bathroom had a tub instead of a stand in shower which required very slow careful high dismount not to slip. Very hazardous for old or big person. Aircorn kept offing middle of the night (maybe due to Pre winter weather auto settings).
