Perfect location and beautiful surroundings. The breakfast and common areas were very nice.
The room was outdated without air conditioners by but everything else was great!
We stayed at the Sunstar for three nights during our trip across Switzerland.
We arrived to a VERY warm Grindelwald and were dreading pushing our suitcases up the hill in direct sunlight as we’d forgotten to let the hotel know our arrival for the shuttle. I phoned the hotel and a shuttle arrived to pick us up in under 5 minutes!
We arrived quite a while before check in was available so enjoyed our free welcome drink outside with the stunning view of Eiger. Although I didn’t catch his name, a wonderfully smiley Argentinian man looked after us and gave us some information about the area.
Our room was amazing! We were so glad we paid a bit extra for the Eiger view - the most stunning view I’ve ever had from a hotel balcony! The room was extremely spacious with a mini bar in the fridge that was refilled each day. Wonderfully comfy beds and a fantastic bathroom. It was extremely hot and I know air conditioning is limited in Switzerland for ecological reasons, but there was an excellent high powered fan in the room which was a help. The room was kept spotless for our stay by the wonderful cleaning staff and daily chocolates on the pillow was a nice touch.
Breakfast? Oh my! What a choice! An amazing selection of hot and cold food. Several juices, lots of tea and coffee choices. A little robotic pancake maker! The croissants and bread were super fresh and I’d definitely recommend the homemade cherry jam as it was delicious! And getting to eat it on the terrace with an amazing view? Spectacular.
I was interested in the names of the surrounding mountains and the lovely ladies on the front desk found a brochure with a photo of the mountains on it for me and hand wrote all their names on it for me. They also gave us some tips of their favourite viewing spots which we took their advice on and were not disappointed!
Location wise, it’s perfect. It’s slightly away from the dead centre of the town, so it’s nice and peaceful. There’s a bus stop just down the road which we used to go to the glacier canyon. It’s a very short walk to Pfingstegg gondola station where you can do a mountain toboggan ride and a tree flier ride. The gondola for Grindelwald first is just across the road. Grindelwald station is a short walk down the hill, where you can catch a train to Lauterbrunnen, or then get a train to Grindelwald Terminal and get gondolas to Jungfrau or Männlichen. It’s a perfect hub for exploring the area.
When I return to Grindelwald (it’s definitely a ‘when’ not an ‘if’!) I will without a doubt return to Sunstar!
THE BALCONY VIEW!! so so so beautiful but be aware that if it's a cloudy day, you might not see anything

Very clean and luxurious stay
Great location, friendly and helpful staff
Basic room with minimal furnishing, small tv. Does not look like advertised pictures at all
Very expensive for such a basic room. No airconditioning. Lack amenities, no kettle for hot water.
住宿位置很好,往周邊景點很方便。房間很大,露台向山景很美,房間很整潔。下次來會再入住。

- Good variety of products in the bar
- Great staff, very helpful every time it was needed some information
- The fact that the pool was under construction, without prior notice, as this was one of the reasons we've booked.
Despite it was offered entrance in the swimming pool at the sports centrum, it's not the same experience.
