Fresh juices reasonably priced
Staff quite friendly and helpful in general
Lifts were useless and slow
Cleaning staff very inflexible about timings
It had a nice pool and pool bar , rooms were lovely and spacious
Could of been better if there was a balcony and a few extra sun loungers
Geweldig uitzicht
Nice swimming pool, good breakfast, friendly staff
The room was not very clean and it was outdated
We have just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at this hotel. My wife and I travelled with our two children for a quick beach break, and it was exactly what we were looking for.
The hotel is ideally located for easy access to the beach, as well as the restaurants and shops at Diagonal Mar shopping centre. A taxi from the airport cost €40 and took around 20 minutes in light traffic.
The hotel is situated in a quieter, more modern part of the city, so don't expect historical landmarks or cultural attractions within walking distance. Some might find the area a little quiet, but it suited our needs perfectly.
The lobby is stunning, featuring a full-height atrium leading up to the 10th floor, where you'll find the pool, bar and impressive 360° terrace. The hotel has a semi-formal restaurant serving a good selection of Mediterranean and international dishes, as well as buffet options for both breakfast and dinner.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and couldn't do enough for us. They speak several languages and were always happy to help with any questions or requests.
Our room was clean, modern and well decorated. The in-room amenities included a fully stocked minibar, snacks and a Nespresso machine, with everything priced very reasonably for a four-star city hotel.
The standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the 10th-floor 360° terrace. It includes a 1.34-metre-deep swimming pool, sun loungers, parasols, a bar, comfortable seating and plenty of tables. Drinks are priced as you'd expect for a four-star city hotel, but if you stick to beer or wine they're very reasonable at around €6 for a beer and €5 for a glass of wine. The terrace also serves an excellent selection of freshly prepared food, including pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and wraps. The pool was spotless, and the hotel provides complimentary towels for guests. It did become quite busy on the Saturday we were there, but that's to be expected during the weekend.
The main restaurant serves an excellent buffet breakfast with a wide selection of continental and cooked options from around the world. Lunch and dinner are also available, with an extensive menu of Mediterranean and international dishes.
We opted for a late checkout, which the hotel offers for €10 per hour after 12:00. We thought this represented excellent value, and even after checking out we were still able to use all of the hotel's facilities until we left for our 22:00 flight.
Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to solo travellers, couples, families and groups alike. If you're looking for a relaxed, hassle-free stay close to a beautiful beach, excellent restaurants and plenty of shopping, this hotel is an excellent choice.
Staff were fab. Cannot fault them.
I stayed at Hotel Barcelona Condal Mar for one night after spending two nights at Innside by Meliá Apolo, and the difference between the two hotels was quite noticeable.
First impressions were very positive. The reception area is modern and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
The room itself was fine, but unfortunately it didn't feel as clean as it should have. There was dust on the bathroom windowsill, which made it seem like the curtains hadn't been opened for quite some time. Outside the bedroom window were several half-smoked cigarettes left on the ledge, and there were hairs in the bathtub. General maintenance also seemed to have been overlooked, with splash marks on the bedroom ceiling that looked like dried food or drink, and areas that could do with repainting. Overall, the room just didn't feel 100% clean, especially when compared with my stay at Innside by Meliá Apolo, where everything was spotless.
The shower was also quite temperamental. It was either extremely hot or too cold, and finding a comfortable temperature took patience, as even the slightest adjustment to the tap caused a dramatic change.
The corridors could definitely do with some attention too. The carpets are very worn, which gives the impression that they're dirty even if they've been cleaned. Replacing them would make a big difference to the overall appearance of the hotel.
As for the location, it's quite a way from the city centre. That wasn't an issue for me, as I'd extended my stay by an extra night after walking around 20 km a day sightseeing and simply wanted somewhere to relax. The rooftop pool was exactly what I was looking for. It's a good size for a refreshing dip and was a nice place to unwind.
My only criticism of the rooftop area was the positioning of the sunbeds. As the rooftop offers 360-degree views, it would have made more sense for the loungers to face outward.
