BED BUGS!
Pros:

Our room had bed bugs! Went to Oakland for a conference for 2 nights. When I got on the plane to leave, I was so so itchy, got home and had bed bug bites everywhere! I called the hotel who said they'd have someone check the room. They did not follow up. I called a week later and they confirmed the infestation. It was the worst week of my life, I had to take time off of work and also see a doctor. They were very rude on the phone and said they would not compensate me in anyway. This hotel tries to bury the bed bug reviews, you'll find other people complaining of this too. Please do not stay here, save yourself!!!!!!

One night business stay
Pros:

I stayed here for one night for business. I've stayed in Oakland once before, but at a different property. This was my first stay at the Courtyard Oakland Downtown. I got to Oakland via BART, so getting to the hotel was an easy 2-3 block walk.

At check-in, the front desk asked for my name, and when she looked it up, the first thing she said my reservation was cancelled. That was a bit of surprise, because I know checked-in via the app the day before, so I was quite confident she made a mistake. After an extra minute, she did find my active reservation. After that, the rest of the check-in was fine.

The hotel and room have the current Courtyard look, and was generally clean but felt a bit worn out. I stay at lot of Courtyards, so they all feel the same after a while, and this one was no different. Room was a good size, bed was comfortable, and WiFi worked fine. I noted there was no in-room safe. No issues with noise even though I was facing Broadway.

For location, it's not bad. The hotel is on the edge of Chinatown, and Swan's Market is only a block or two away, so there are plenty of good restaurants. Also close to BART station, so easy to get into San Francisco. Anywhere outside of these areas, the city feels quite desolate - there seem to be number of homeless people.

Overall, my one night was fine for business. It's a typical Courtyard that delivers a familiar service. The neighbourhood isn't great, but it's also much cheaper than staying in SF. I'd be OK with coming back for short solo stays for business, but would think twice about bringing my family.

Great location for visiting san fran
Pros:

Location to Bart was excellent. Felt safe. Staff was amazing

Cons:

Pool was overrated, no hot tub.. Limited sunshine. Needs were ok, but not horrible. Had to call down for clean towels

It was an OK stay overall. The cleaning lady was nice, the location is close to transport/food
Pros:

The location was very good. with good local transport accessible. The breakfast was OK. There are plenty of restaurant and food places near by.

Cons:

I was asking for two beds plus a sofa bed. for three adults. What I got was a King bed and the sofa bed, and the sofa bed was terrible so much so that I have to ask to change the room. For that change I was charged 30$ per night. The room air conditioner was very loud and other hotels offer Netflix and Youth tube, but this does not.
