Amazing location and fab hotel
Pros:

The buffet breakfast had a wonderful selection of everything from cereals to fresh fruit to cooked breakfast.
All thd staff were very friendly and curteous.

Vila Gale Ampalius, Vilamoura, Portugal.

My second time since Christmas 2025 at this hotel. First with my wife for Christmas 2025 then in May 2026 with my mate. This is such a great location with access to the beach, the marina & the old village, a must see. Lot of choice of bars some with live music in the marina. The hotel offers a spa, a large restaraunt offering the usual fare, a very large music themed bar area but offers a limited range of beers on tap only Sagres & a cider. No ales. They do make a very good caipirinia & other cocktails. There are 2 out door pools & a pool bar. The hotel staff very friendly & accommodating. This is a very popular hotel for those into golfing. Great see views & or marina views depending which part of the hotel you plan on staying.

I have stayed here twice now & will probably visit again at some point in the future & if looking for a great place to holiday & stay, Vilemoura & Vil Gale Ampalius are places that should be seriously considered.

Cons:

Nightly entertainment was very poor & childish . Also a lot of very loud gangs of golfers took over the pools each evening & most residents left their sunbeds .

Even though we had a kitchen we had no kettle or tea or coffee facilities - we asked and was told it would arrive / it did - 2 hours before we checked out

If you like to spend your day listening to loud moronic music, this is the place for you.
Pros:

The room was excellent. Bathroom also.

Cons:

The common areas were reminiscent of a canteen. Boring decor. The restaurant had a draft blowing constantly from the open front door. The breakfast layout was nonsensical: breakfasters had to hunt for the bread that was in a separate area from the rest of the breakfast offering. All day, customers were treated to loud music from some disco or similar in front of the hotel. Apparently (according to the staff) this is daily and normal. The reception desk had only one staffer serving check in and check out = long queues. Access to the rooms was via a small staircase - with baggage? Obviously no-one had thought of the idea of a small ramp.

lovly hotel ,poor food.
Pros:

the breakfast is ok, they could do with more toesters ,there is only 2 for all the guests ,the white bread was cheap bread and toast was to hard to enjoy.

Cons:

the food lets this lovly hotel down. when we came years ago the evening meal was lovly we had all are meals then ,not eny more,very poor for this hotel. now we are in our late 70 we like to eat where we stay. people i i spoke to all said the same.
