Cons:

I think that charging $28. a night for parking in their parking lot is ridiculous.

Like no other hotel
Pros:

Whenever I visit Santa Cruz, I look forward to staying at the Paradox. It's like no other hotel I have stayed in anywhere. Seriously. And it feels like home.

It's the people. From the check in from Blossom who was so welcoming…to Rainbow who works behind the bar as I pull up for breakfast…who recalled me and even some of our conversations from my last trip 5 months ago to the night bartenders, Kelley and Jeffrey, who remembered our conversations about the surf scene (Jeffrey is a surfer, not me) from last visit the place is welcoming and has a consistently positive energy.

There are families there using the pool and homey open feeling lobby. The rooms are revamped hotel rooms so fine but as far as I can tell a lot of guests seem to come here with their families to come here and vacation at the hotel and pool. I am consistently amazed at that energy.

Loved it here. 🥰
Pros:

Lovely rooms with modern beachy vibe. Pool was great but on the afternoon we arrived there were pool pass people ( not guests,. locals) in so was busy to start. When we left had it to ourselves!! Ate s'mores the hotel supplied by the firepit, chilled in the lovely hot Jacuzzi and stayed in the next evening till 10pm. All to ourselves again. Was heavenly. Beds comfy, 15 min walk from beach and boardwalk so don't drive!! Save parking fee!! Would stay again!! Xx

Nice facilities, but overpriced for the room quality.
Pros:

Food was good. The pool area was nice.

Cons:

Our air conditioner didn’t work and they didn’t do anything to fix it. Also there was coffee spilled in all the drawers of the dresser. We asked for a receipt upon checkout, but they didn’t email one.

Aside from what we didn’t like it was a great place kids friendly and power friendly.
Pros:

It was beautiful, loved the pool granddaughter had fun. They had pool noodles for her to with. Games if you want to play, Jenga and I believe a ping ping table Jacuzzi

Cons:

They have a bar, the only thing is for a small cup Margarita it was $20 for one and it was mostly ice🤨
The bed was way too soft..

Incompetent Personnel
Pros:

This hotel, however sparkly it seems, is run by children so if you have a problem, you will be shunted from one incompetent person to another and never get a resolution.

Great bar and entry. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms
Pros:

Great entry

Cons:

Rooms were smaller than expected and not connected to front lobby. Patio fireplace faced parked cars. Marketing gimmick for upgrade

Hotel Paradox was such a fun mini vacay!
Pros:

We stayed at Hotel Paradox last May and had a really nice time. We showed up a little bit early and the front desk was able to accommodate us and get us into a room. The room was adorable and clean, but a little snug.
We loved that the restaurant and bar opens to the outside patio and pool, its beautiful! The food is very good! we were wondering how it would be and everything we tried was very very good! Some of the best double smash burgers ( Drive Thru) we have ever had! The beef skewers were good too!
What can I say about the staff? They made us feel welcomed and we got the best service! Liz, Iris and Rainbow were very kind and went above and beyond!
When you are in the lobby, look for the dog treats!!! they are baked with love from a very cool staff members husband ( who is a chef ) IYKYK - our dog who is picky couldn't get enough!
Can't wait to go back!!!

Santa Cruz Hotel for Families
Pros:

Nice room. Pool overwhelmed. Kids everywhere. Running around, wild. Likely better for families. Not great for couple or business. Also not a great location.
