A very stylish stay in Port Louis
Pros:

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the Port Louis Marina, and they even have their own water taxi to transport you over to the Caudan district. Room was spacious with a huge, super comfortable bed. The gym is open 24 hours and is super well equipped. Loved the attentiveness of the reception staff.

Cons:

The breakfast was the only somewhat disappointing part, while it was an okay buffet, it felt a bit lacking for a hotel of this caliber.

Pros:

I stayed at Le Suffren for five nights in September 2026 as a solo female traveller visiting Mauritius for a conference, and overall I had a really positive stay.

Check-in was a little more complicated than it needed to be. At first I was given the booking for another guest who happened to have the same first name as me, so there was a bit of confusion before everything was sorted. It was resolved, but it wasn’t the smoothest start after travelling.

The hotel is very well located, particularly if you need to get in and out of Port Louis, as it is very close to the main motorway. Despite that, I couldn’t hear any road noise from the hotel at all, so it still felt peaceful.

The pool itself is fairly small, but the pool area is lovely, with plenty of sunshades and comfortable places to sit. The artificial beach is also a nice extra, although because it sits right by the marina, it can feel slightly like you’re sunbathing in the middle of the marina rather than on a traditional beach.

One thing I would mention, particularly for solo travellers, is that the access road towards the city is very dark at night. I did walk it, but I didn’t particularly enjoy doing so and ended up using the torch on my phone to see properly. The hotel does actually provide a free water taxi from the other side of the property, which connects you directly to the rest of the waterfront and means you can avoid the access road altogether. I only found out about this on my third night, though, so it would have been really helpful for that to be explained at check-in.

There is also a Winners supermarket at Victoria Urban Terminal, around a 12-minute walk from the hotel. It is really useful if you want drinks, snacks or a few basics for the room. It can be a little difficult to find the first time if you don’t know exactly where you’re going, but once you’ve found it, it’s very convenient.

I ate at the hotel one evening and had the sushi, which was really nice.

Practical and efficient
Pros:

The port location was close to the shops and restaurants. Some museums were also walking distance, so overall it was a nice location with good amenities.

Cons:

There were no beaches close by as the hotel location is in Port Louis which is close to the city but not the famous Mauritius beaches. However, you could go there with a short taxi ride.

Very enjoyable two night stay prior to leaving Mauritius, location is great, recommend it.
Pros:

Reception staff were great and did everything I asked....very friendly and arranged my luggage from Taxi to Room, Room to Taxi. Informed me I was getting 10% off food and beverage if paying by Visa.
The staff in general are very pleasant and helpful...seems to enjoy working in the hospitality industry and well trained. Was on half board package so had 1500 MUR / per person towards the meal, which is ample for starter and main course.

Cons:

Only negative was the breakfast.....cooked Pork bacon and sausages were not good quality. Better if you ordered when arrived, similars to the Egg Station, the poached eggs were excellent.

Pros:

Die Lage zur Watherfront war perfekt. Alles sehr sauber und ansprechend.
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Cons:

Brotauswahl beim Frühstück läßt zu wünschen übrige.
Sehr viel süßes bei Buffet, die Auswahl bei Käse/Schinken/Wurst war bescheiden, keine Tomaten oder sonstiges Gemüse.
Im Bad gibt es keine Ablage für Cosmetic und die Dusche wirkt sehr unhygienisch.
