Insgesamt ordentlicher Aufenthalt, jedoch mit hoher Geräuschkulisse und kleinen Mängeln.
Pros:

Das Hotel ist zwar schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, bietet dafür aber eine erfreulich umfangreiche Ausstattung. Dazu gehören unter anderem eine Sauna, ein Innenpool, ein gut ausgestattetes Fitnessstudio und sogar professionell durchgeführte Massagen.

Das Frühstücksangebot war für ein Hotel dieser Kategorie insgesamt in Ordnung, wenn auch nicht außergewöhnlich. Zur Auswahl standen unter anderem Spiegeleier, die typischen englischen Frühstücksbeilagen, frisches Gemüse, Müsli, Joghurt sowie auch dunkleres Brot. Lediglich das angebotene Rührei konnte uns nicht überzeugen – Konsistenz und Geschmack erinnerten eher an eine fertige Masse als an frisch zubereitetes Ei.

Das Buffet am Abend war vielseitig und durch die wechselnden Themenabende angenehm abwechslungsreich.

Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die außergewöhnliche Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft des Reinigungspersonals. Wir haben uns hier jederzeit sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt – dafür nochmals ein herzliches Dankeschön!

Cons:

Die Geräuschkulisse war für uns leider einer der größten Kritikpunkte. Die im Innenhof befindlichen Lüftungsanlagen waren deutlich hörbar. Da unsere Terrassentür zudem nicht vollständig dicht schloss, empfanden wir die Geräusche auch im Zimmer als störend. Hinzu kamen während unseres Aufenthalts mehrere Baustellen in der näheren Umgebung sowie die teilweise recht hohe nächtliche Lautstärke in Funchal. Wer geräuschempfindlich ist, sollte dies bei der Zimmerwahl berücksichtigen.

Unangenehm war außerdem, dass wir auf unserer Terrasse abgeschnittene Fußnägel vorfanden. Das empfanden wir als unhygienisch und wenig appetitlich.

Auch insgesamt merkt man dem Hotel an einigen Stellen an, dass es bereits etwas älter ist und eine Modernisierung hier und da guttun würde.

Etwas verunsichert hat uns zudem, dass an der Rezeption ein Aufsteller mit Hygienehinweisen im Zusammenhang mit dem Norovirus stand. Im Laufe unseres Aufenthalts erkrankten wir selbst an deutlichen Magen-Darm-Beschwerden. Nach unserer Wahrnehmung waren in dieser Zeit auch weitere Hotelgäste von ähnlichen Beschwerden betroffen. Wo und wie die Erkrankung entstanden ist, können wir selbstverständlich nicht beurteilen – die Situation hat unseren Aufenthalt jedoch leider deutlich beeinträchtigt.

The swimming pool was too cold
And the noises outside were terrible, we could not sleep well. Headache because of that the next morning.
There were 2 cockroaches in the morning, sunday, in the early morning, in the bathroom..we tries to kill them but they went away too fast. They could be still in the room...brrr

O hotel é bom mas o serviço teve várias falhas.
Pros:

No geral, este hotel tem uma boa relação qualidade-preço. O estúdio era bom, tinha 3 camas muito confortáveis e as comodidades básicas de cozinha. A localização é espetacular, e poucos minutos a pé das piscinas do Lido e numa envolvente com muita animação e todos os serviços.

Cons:

O serviço no hotel teve vários aspetos menos bons. O check-in era às 15h00 mas tivemos de aguardar pelas 15h30 para podermos aceder ao quarto, e quando chegámos ainda lá estava a equipa de limpezas. Tivemos de esperar mais 30m pelas toalhas de banho que não haviam sido colocadas no quarto. O estacionamento no hotel agora é pago e tem de ser reservado, assim pagámos uma diária no estacionamento secundário do hotel, que fica a cerca de 100m mas que não tem placas de indicação suficientes (mais uma vez, os funcionários da receção não ajudaram muito). O acesso ao spa tem a porta fechada e, sem campainha, tivemos de voltar para trás, saindo e entrando no edifício, para que os funcionários da receção abrissem a porta à distância. Mesmo apesar de termos reservado antecipadamente a hora do spa e termos passado pela receção avisando de que iriamos para o spa. O pequeno-almoço é servido até às 10h30, mas às 09h30 perguntámos pelas panquecas e foi-nos respondido simplesmente: 'já não há'.
