We loved the sitting spaces and the bar. There was a jazz group playing in the bar area the night we were there. The room was very spacious and had a view of the city from the shared balcony. The city map at the front desk was very helpful.

a very beautiful hotel with "old-money" vibe. I mean the lounge has sofa you just don't want to get up from, just stay and read a good book. and all the art makes all the difference. we had a junior suit and it was very spacious. the staff are very attentive and welcoming. we enjoyed it. the hotel is close to the park and very short walk to the center
The history and the art work around the hotel I found really interesting. The bed was very comfortable - we stayed in two different rooms due to the inability to stay in our preferred room a suite. The room size was very different and we appreciated the mostly friendly service at reception.
The hotel is expensive for the age of the hotel. It’s one of the older hotels in the city and could benefit from a comprehensive upgrade. Some may call is old world charm for me it was a little tired.
Excellent breakfast
3440 Euro in 10 notti, tanto era che ho dovuto dividerla in due da cinque giorni. Occorre però una valutazione relativa di tutto quanto. Siamo in una città costosissima di una nazione costosissima- Camera piccola ma era previsto. In compenso, la vista dal balcone era magnifica e la posizione eccellente, questo dunque ripaga del costo. Si trova infatti sulla via del Cat Cafè, poche centinaia di metri da Rainbow Street e Laugavegur, quindi per arrivare lungomare verso Viðey o Seltjarnarnes. Ma è perfetta anche per visitare le zone a sud come Nauthólsvík e il Museo Nazionale.
L’ambiente, decorato ogni parte, è davvero carino. La colazione è piacevole, la sala molto elegante e con tavoli grandi, alcune pietanze ruotano nei giorni, ad esempio würstel o funghi o fagioli in salsa. Il salmone è davvero ottimo, anche alcuni dolci variano e, a rotazione, se ne trovano di personalmente graditi. E, per frutta, più volte mele con cannella, da impazzire quanto buone.
A parte una sgradevole situazione con una persona in reception, evidentemente brillante con tanti ma non tutti, il personale è sempre stato gentile, sia in sala colazione sia la sera per rientrare se la porta è chiusa (suonare citofono o chiamare un numero), sia all’housekeeping.
La wifi ha operato bene, c’è stato un blackout di 20 ore ma la responsabilità era facilmente di terzi, andava a sbalzi e solo su alcuni dispositivi, poi tutto tornato nella norma.
Il parcheggio è un plus eccellente, incluso nel prezzo ed in centro, ma ci sono stati o avrebbero potuto problemi.
In sala colazione un po’ troppo freddo, probabilmente per eccesso di aria condizionata. Sul mio corpo è tossica e può farmi ammalare ma, in questo caso, era oggettivamente un po’ fuori luogo, dato che, la mattina dalle 7, fuori c’erano tra 8 e 11 gradi, non era certo caldo torrido. Comunque, stando lontano dalle bocchette e con un maglioncino, si riusciva a stare senza rovinarsi la colazione.
In camera manca un frigo, non è un’anomalia perché era noto, semmai una “miglioria” perché la sua presenza per me è vitale causa medicine soprattutto, ho dovuto attrezzarmi diversamente.
Stranamente, in bagno non ho trovato una presa d’alimentazione, potevo anche chiedere conferma caso mai mi fosse sfuggita dopo aver controllato parecchio, ma ho agito diversamente, radendomi nella camera con le prese e lo specchio verticale.
Un parcheggio (l’altro era pieno) ha uno scalino all'entrata piuttosto insidioso, ero con la mia automobile, bassa, ed ho urtato sotto anche fermandomi prima di passare. Quello scalino, non segnalato sul sito, è pericoloso, non tutti hanno una macchina alta.
Il quarto giorno, ho trovato 13 chiodi ed altri pezzi appuntiti in traiettoria delle automobili, vicinissimi alla mia (5 chiodi nella foto non ci sono, li ho gettati prima). Li mostro garbatamente alla reception dicendo "ho trovato questi" e la persona presente, la ragazza dai capelli rossi, mi risponde "Ok, Ok" e si gira altrove, liquidandomi come un imbecille.
Ah sì? Complimenti per l'atteggiamento maleducato, sgradevole e non professionale. Non una parola tipo siamo desolati o grazie per avercelo detto e portati via (per il bene di tutti) o speriamo non ti sia capitato niente... La responsabilità non è del cliente, visto il bel cartello all'ingresso che, giustamente, dice "parcheggio riservato agli ospiti dell’hotel" quindi privato a cura dell’hotel! Mentre il cliente avrebbe subito i potenziali danni!
Io mostro un arsenale contundente (ripeto, non 1 o 2 pezzi e non in un angolo, ma 13 chiodi e il resto, in traiettoria!!!) e questa persona mi tratta così? E chi avrebbe ripagato i miei danni materiali e morali, perdita di tempo e il resto, se avessi forato i pneumatici??
Non ci siamo! Grave la non curanza di quegli oggetti pericolosi ma, persino peggio, l'atteggiamento maleducato e sgradevole di quella persona a fronte della pacatissima pur preoccupata segnalazione.
Intollerabile! Occorre più rispetto per chi viene qua a spendere 3440 Euro in 10 giorni e ti viene gentilmente a segnalare una non curanza potenzialmente pericolosa.
Male, molto male. Ho viaggiato con la mia automobile in 37 nazioni d'Europa (Islanda ora compresa) e soggiornato in oltre 150 strutture, mai accaduto un atteggiamento del genere.
