Lovely staff. Excellent breakfast. Good location.
All good.
Location and parking are amazing in the city centre. Everything is less than a 20min walk away.
The art, staff, and breakfast.
I have nothing but great things to say about this gem of a hotel. It was one of the absolute best hotels I've ever stayed at as a solo world traveler. The art cannot be underestimated. "Artful touches" doesn't begin to describe it. The lobby and all the elegant adjoining rooms are graced with beautiful paintings and sculptures. There is an exquisite library that has a built-in display case of historical artifacts from the hotel when it had a michelin starred chef at the helm, sadly no longer.
I became introduced to the art of Jóhannes S. Kjarval who has a prominence there, along with his own namesake museum--part of the Reykjavik Art Museum trio. Go there too.
I had a solo (twin bedded) room with balcony. It had plenty of closet space for me to unpack for my 3 night stay. My stay included breakfast which was stellar! Every day a hot entree plus all the yummy baked items you can imagine. Their homemade sourdough is killer good. And, bonus for me, is I am gluten free in the US because they used glyphosates here in their wheat production. But in Iceland I did not have any reaction so I filled up on those impeccable croissants.
The bar is another level of hospitality. Shout out to Josepina who made me the best $21 irish coffee I've ever had, when I showed up weary after 15K step walking all over the city at 9pm, one hour before closing, to relax with that drink. She is a very talented bartendress. It was worth every kroner of the 2,700 ISK.
Even though there were graduation parties happening in the main floor, my room on the 4th was quiet. The blackout drapes worked great to allow me to sleep during the midnight sun. All in all, a fantastic experience I highly recommend.
Superfin beliggenhed. Fantastisk med de fine billeder på væggene.
Morgenmaden var god, og der var en fin udsigt fra værelset. Dejligt med parkering lige ved hotellet.
Very happy we stayed here. Handy location, friendly staff, comfortable stay.
The style is intentionally old, but also feels quite rundown and in need of modernising.
Breakfast is good and we booked a worthwhile trip through the hotel too.
A well-kept hotel with a quiet atmosphere and a quiet location. The staff in all departments were always very polite and pleasant. Despite the age of the hotel, the rooms were very fresh, nothing was damaged and above all incredibly well-cleaned. Impressive! The breakfast was fantastic with just enough to choose from. You can hear the neighbors in the rooms next door but luckily we had quiet neighbors throughout our stay.
Car parking direct at the hotel for free. All windows can be opend - fresh air.
Very poor sound insulation; unexpectedly heavy traffic on the road and under the flight path of the domestic airport.
Lokalizacja, bardzo miła i profesjonalna obsługa w recepcji.
Mały, słabo wyposażony pokój. Jeden dzialajacy program w telewizji. Brak porządnych zaciemniających zasłon był bardzo dokuczliwy. Śniadania baaaardzo średnie. Duże rozczarowanie jak na hotel 4* .
The location is great. The rooms with balconies are delightful. The breakfast is very good.
We had a difficult experience with one staff member. However, we had an exceptional experience with a different member.
Very nice but old school hotel. I’m not sure if the pictures are particularly accurate, we had a fairly outdated looking room, but it was large and the bathroom was huge with tons of storage for little bathroom essentials. Nice shower pressure and plenty of room for luggage and spreading out.
Elevator is just a small lift for one person which is fine as we were on the second floor. Key (literally a physical key-I haven’t see that one in a longggggg time- was finicky but luckily we only stayed once night. The receptionist was super nice and we were bedraggled from our red eye flight and being up for almost 24 hours. She took our luggage and stored them as we were 5 hours early and refilled our water bottles, showed us the restroom and pointed us the right direction for the downtown area.
