Excellent City Hotel
Pros:

We stayed at the Holt Hotel at the beginning and the end of our Iceland holiday, great place to stay, large very comfortable rooms, staff were really helpful and it was really quiet. The parking was great too. Holt Hotel is in a great location and you can visit all the attractions on foot.

The hotel did not meet our expectations based on previous Tripadvisor ratings. The furnishings and room amenities were substandard or not functional. The whole hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade and refresh!

I very much doubt I’d stay anywhere else if we returned to Reykjavík.
Pros:

Nice hotel, well positioned, good breakfast.

It’s Iceland, so nothing (except the swimming pool!) gets 5 for Value for Money, but I think ours was reasonable.

And I was pleased to get the good coffee top up daily.

The hotel provides a safe place to stay, but lacks the asthetic and quality of a 4 star hotel as ad!
Pros:

The restrooms were clean

Cons:

The hotel was a bit “worn”! The carpet was frayed on the stairs. The furnishings were “tired” and not what I would expect based on previous ratings. The bed comfort was not great. The blow dryer and TV were not functional. The “check-in” staff were not very personable. The towels were ragged and in need of replacement. The overall look of the hotel was dark and dreary. For an “art” hotel the art was lacking interest.
Overall I would NEVER recommend this hotel!

Great Reykjavík Hotel
Pros:

Really enjoyed our stay. We were walking distance to most city attractions and restaurants. The hotel breakfast was very good.

A beautiful hotel featuring an impressive collection of paintings. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect.

I would stay on the property again.
Pros:

The breakfast was wonderful. Lots of options. Everything looked fresh and was well presented.

We dealt with Simon several times, and he was very helpful. He even remembered us by name when we checked in for our second visit.

Cons:

I actually stayed on the property twice during this trip. My only issues were charging for early check-in and late check-out. On check-in, if the room is available, why charge for it? It's not like the hotel is being inconvenienced. Same without late check-out. I can see the charge if there's a serious potential to seriously impact those checking in.

Pros:

Sehr gute Lage, Zentrum zu Fuß erreichbar, privater kostenfreier Parkplatz. Die Rezeptionistin Gabriela war sehr freundlich und bemüht.

Cons:

Die Einrichtung in der Lobby braucht eine Modernisierung.

Great Hotel In A Excellent Location
Pros:

Everything was excellent, the hotel staff were very helpful, our room was lovely, the location was great and the free parking was either in car park next to the hotel or just opposite. we would definitely recommend Holt Hotel.

Non è tutto oro quel che luccica

La colazione è il punto di sicuro favore in questa struttura: buona qualità e varietà delle proposte. L'altro punto a favore è la posizione centrale ed il piccolo parcheggio a disposizione gratuitamente (attenzione posti limitati dunque chi primo arriva...)

Cons:

Camera molto piccola ed estremamente vecchia, non storica. Tutto di qualità mediocre, consumato, rotto o mal funzionante. Dove il fastidio della luce di notte per alcuni possa essere importante, le tende oscuranti erano cadenti e non riuscivano a proteggere dalla luce.
L'ingresso all'hotel (la hall) parla della sua storia, ma tutto il resto dice di vecchio e mal manutenuto (o non manutenuto e rinnovato affatto).

Die Lage war excellent, das Personal sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und stets bereit zu helfen. Herrliches Frühstück, von allem etwas. Interessant und beeindruckend die grosse Lobby mit vielen gemütlichen Ledersofas und Bildern, das Hotel hat den Namen nicht umsonst!

Cons:

Mir persönlich hat der Teppichboden im Zimmer nicht gefallen, da dieser fleckig war, offensichtlich sind die Flecken nicht herausgegangen. Sonst war genügend Ablage, Kleiderkasten vorhanden.
