Breakfast, room and free parking (got there early both times) were all terrific.
Stayed twice in July, both on Sunday. Disappointed no live jazz on Sundays and neither was bar open.

Le petit déjeuner à améliorer
It was such a cute boutique, art filled, hotel. It was in a perfect location, just a block or two from downtown, so you didn’t have the noise but close enough to get to everything quickly. It was a five minute walk to Rainbow Road, and a 20 minute walk down to the harbor for whale watching, it was a 10 minute drive to sky Lagoon and 40 minutes to Keflavík airport. The staff were phenomenal!! They are a family owned hotel, which I loved, and they all went above and beyond to help us. There wasn’t really much of a way of food, except for breakfast, but there were plenty of patisseries and places close by to eat. we will definitely be back if we’re in Reykjavík again!!
The only thing that was weird where the beds. They were basically two twin beds shoved together, and each had its own little blanket, which was kind of funny for my husband, and I, but in the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t that big of a deal. And the elevator was very small, but we found it extremely charming!!
Location and parking
It was good location to get into town
It was stinky. It smelled like my grandma’s house. The beds were outdated. You could feel the springs in the mattress, and there was a huge divot and they were not willing to accommodate us for a new room or to help figure out a situation where they didn’t just have to lay another sheet on top of the springs. Don’t stay here don’t waste your money. There’s plenty of better places to stay at downtown.

Beautiful hotel on a quiet street with excellent service; it had a rich history well presented in the foyer; very nice sitting areas to relax with a good book in hand
Our stay at the Holt Art Hotel was wonderful. We booked a spacious junior suite that felt comfortable and inviting. The property is on the older side, but that’s part of its charm. It has character, personality, and a cozy atmosphere you don’t get from newer, more generic hotels. Everything was clean and well cared for, and breakfast each morning was delicious and generously portioned.
Gabriella, who worked at the front desk during our stay, made the experience even better. She gave us fantastic restaurant recommendations that were both delicious and reasonably priced, and she kindly helped us make dinner reservations. We also loved chatting with her about Iceland in general; her humor and insight added a personal touch that made us feel truly welcomed.
Highly recommend the Holt Art Hotel for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a friendly, charming place to stay.
- friendliness of the staff
- breakfast quality
- two pillows
- amazing design
We enjoyed staying at this hotel - located minutes from downtown, very quiet, and with excellent service! It is called the Art Hotel for a reason - there is art everywhere, lots of books, plenty of space to sit and enjoy in solitude or in company of friends. Our room was quiet, the bed and bedding very comfortable. Excellent value!!! We are planning to come back to Iceland and will definitely stay here. The staff were amazing - courteous, friendly, caring, offered advice on local restaurants. ❤️❤️❤️
Das gesamze Ambiente im Hotel; das sehr gute Frphstückdbuffet; Größe und Austattung des Zimmers, die Lage

Good location . Reception room , bar and sitting area comfortable with nice deco. Staff friendly & helpful.
Room was on the front of the hotel and quite noisy even though in a quieter part of the town. Beds were quite hard and bathroom small.
Lovely helpful staff
Convenient location
Calm welcoming atmosphere
Slightly grubby looking outside. No bedroom views. Slightly dated rooms
Location was within walking distance to town
Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. When asked if we could have softer pillows to front office staff we never heard back.
Mini bar completely empty with no water. Room very tired and carpet stained.
Chose this hotel for a 3-night stay with a large group of family and friends. Could not be happier with our choice. Very clean and cozy hotel with warm and friendly staff. Excellent location. Very walkable to popular downtown and old town areas with shops, restaurants, pubs, and attractions. Very good breakfast and cocktail bar as well.
Charming, well-kept older "classic" hotel, with very updated, modern rooms. Loved all of the artworks everywhere, and it was nice to be able to wander around the ground level, which has a little "museum" room with items from the hotel's past.
At det var så rent
Trodde hotellet var større og nyere.
