Comfortable and well catered for, the staff were excellent.
Pros:

Breakfasts were excellent and well exceeded expectations. Excellent variety and quality.

Cons:

There wasn't anything about the hotel I didn't like. When researching the hotel there was an "open invitation" to walk through the rear gardens but there were so many" Private property " we didn't really recognise where we could stroll and where was off limits or if we were classed as "general public".

Lovely as always.
Pros:

We stay here regularly by choice, as it is a lovely old-style hotel full of character. It is clearly privately owned and run with genuine care and attention from the owners.

What really stands out is the refreshing attitude of the staff, who go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable, valued, and genuinely welcome.

Given the enormous running costs of operating such a property in modern, highly taxed Britain, it is particularly impressive that the hotel remains so well maintained, clean, and welcoming.

Well done to both the staff and owners for maintaining such high standards in challenging economic times.

Cons:

Air conditioning is sometimes not the best.

Disappointing
Cons:

Hotel looks "tired", especially at back of hotel and in the grounds which are pretty overgrown in places. For size of hotel, I had expected some leisure facilities such as pool or exercise room. There were 2 tennis courts but I never saw anyone near them, let alone playing (i dont play tennis so not much use to me anyway). Room was ok but possible problem in hotel with mice (or worse?). Lot of scratchy and something moving noises from ceiling and not birds outside! AC / room fan would not work - control panel kept saying error.
Staff friendly but overall a difficult job in a badly maintained property.

Lovely stay. Small rooms but that was not a problem. Expensive but would recommend.
Pros:

Most things. Very busy with events but staff very good especially the reception people.

Cons:

I couldn’t book the afternoon tea as it was apparently full. The event I attended had 2 choices of food for each course. I wasn’t asked which I wanted until I requested a different main course and was told they didn’t have it?? So I wasn’t asked but was told I’d have to wait until everyone else was served and was then given a risotto ( which was ok ish) I actually wanted the veggie option as written on the menu.

Average
Pros:

Good location

Cons:

Tiny bed and small bedroom/en suite for a ‘superior double’. Very average breakfast and clearing the breakfast room at 1030am on a Sunday hardly makes for a relaxing break. No leisure facilities

Hotel with so much potential
Cons:

Main disappointment was the quality of the breakfast for the money £21. We got there at 08:45 and the selections were limited and the coffee machine not working properly. The shower room was too cramped and water too easily crept around the screen into the dry area.

Pros:

Nestled in the park, this property enjoys a panoramic location. A spacious, ground-floor room overlooks the garden. A generous breakfast buffet is available.

Cons:

Cleanliness, or rather, the lack thereof. At dinner, the dining room had all sorts of things on the floor/carpet (crumbs, paper, balls of dust). At breakfast the next day, the same annoying and disturbing situation occurred. One wonders why.
Note regarding dinner: we had to send back the fish dish because it smelled bad. The dining room manager, after some hesitation, replaced the dish without including it in the bill.
The final assessment for these aspects, which ruined our stay, can only be completely inadequate.
Definitely not a good memory.
