Property is beautiful, rooms are comfortable, luxurious, spacious and VERY clean.
Proximity to the marina was less than ideal if you’re spending time on the beach platform
Very good position, high standard 5 star hotel, nice view, and clean hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. A bit pricey but can recommend this hotel for a visit to Sorrento
We just completed our second stay in 2 years at the Grand Hotel Royal and can report, it just keeps getting better! While last year, it was just the wife and I for 2 nights, we returned this year with our adult kids for 3 nights. Having to book 2 rooms instead of 1 certainly hurt the pocketbook. Before booking, I searched far and wide for a different hotel that I can try to get a similar experience at a cheaper rate since I had to double our stay with the 2 rooms, even going so far as reserving rooms at another place, but as the time ticked closer to our trip, I just kept going back to the memories of our prior stay and simply did not want to miss out, as well as show the kids what a luxury stay really looks like. I ended up canceling the other reservation and never looked back. We booked a prestige water view and premier water view room. The concierge was nice enough to ensure that our rooms were on teh same floor for conveniece and the view was of course spectacular. We spent the majority of our stay at the private "beach", which is simply THE BEST. While the price is steep, I cannot recommend this hotel more.
The staff were excellent and accommodating. The hotel and facilities were clean and well kept. The food was delicious and well made. Had a suite with kids and they automatically doubled all the toiletries and replenished them daily without having to ask. We always had new soaps and plenty of towels. All around wonderful hotel.
Extraordinary outstanding views and luxury hotel. Highly recommended. We can’t wait to return to this superb hotel.
I would only make one suggestion regarding Tea. Yes I am a lover of drinking English Breakfast Tea and I truly believe a high end Hotel such as the Grand Royal should provide silver service with serving Tea. Real loose tea. In a tea pot with strainer. Served with beautiful porcelain china. Matching milk jug. This is what high end Hotel serve . A long with High Tea. With so many lovers of tea, this would make such a great difference to my enjoyment during breakfast.
Another suggestion would be ice water issued pool side with lemon dented ice hand towel.
Excellent location close to the main square, amazing pool and private "beach". This beach is actually a deck with a ladder into the water. Great patio looking out over the Bay of Naples with views over Vesuvius, Ischia and sunset over the water. Gym is small but functional. Onsite valet parking for 26 Euro per night is good value for the area, but don't skip the damage audit on the car before handing over the keys. If arriving or leaving by public transport, it's very walkable (10 mins) from the train/bus station, even with suitcases. Breakfast was fine, not bad but also not special.
Some of the staff had a bit of attitude. Pool/beach close by 6:30pm, which is disappointing if you arrive back after a big day out.
Excellent architecture and view
Nothing
What a stunning hotel!
We enjoyed every minute from arrival to checking-out.
The staff is so friendly and attentive.
The rooms are really nice, maybe consider booking a sea-facing room as it is worth it.
The hotel has a beautiful garden and a veranda overlooking the ocean and Sorrento harbour.
The breakfast buffet is amazing, nothing was missing.
We also had dinner there one night and the food was really tasty.
It was still too cold to swim in April but the hotel also has a pool and a deck with sunloungers.
We were really sad as our time there had come to an end...
Beautiful hotel, kept up a very high standard
Beautiful view, that being said I’ve never been treated more poorly in my life. They are the most money hungry people I have ever met in Europe, if you are under 25 they assume you have no money and won’t even serve you. I strongly recommend searching elsewhere, there are multiple resorts in very close proximity with the exact same view and better people. Treating people like they’re worthless is not what a “5 star hotel” should be doing it’s disgusting.
We chose to stay at this hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. If I could give them higher stars, I would. From the moment we entered the hotel. we were warmly greeted by all of their staff and concierge. Every aspect of the grounds were meticulously groomed the pool view was amazing but our favorite was the beach club. They had a beautiful garden to enjoy lunch too. Our room was everything we could’ve asked for with lots of room, lots of space for our belongings and they provided generous soaps and lotions. The breakfast buffet made us feel like royalty. All of the staff is so kind and I wish we could have stayed longer.
the view! the view! excellent staff, beautiful surroundings, centrally located. divine.
that i had to leave
Beautiful property and location. Must get a water view. It’s extra beautiful with great sunsets.
