Quinta Jardins do Lago

My husband and I stayed in this hotel in January 2026 and we love it so much that we returned last week to celebrate my birthday. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and I had an unforgettable birthday there. ALL the staff, without exception, were helpful and warm. The restaurant served amazing meals every evening. It is the best hotel we have ever stayed!

Absolutely incredible staff - super accommodating with our 1.5 year old, and great recommendations. Gardens are magnificent.

From the very first moments we felt truly welcome at this special place. The garden is amazing, our room in the old part of the hotel a jewel. From the balcony we had a nice view over the huge garden and we spent hours walking around in it. The pool/Jacuzzi is awesome and the staff is charming and super friendly. If you ever get the chance to stay here, then do it. We'll never forget 🥰

Quint Jardins do Largo is an oasis of tranquility on the outskirt of fantastic Funchal. We have stayed there many times and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Returning to the hotel is like going home.

My husband and I booked a standard room with garden view and balcony. It was a lovely spacious ground floor room where we could sit outside with a very pleasant view of the garden. The grounds and pool area were beautiful and well maintained.
There was a wide selection to choose from at breakfast which we had on the terrace each morning and was a wonderful start to the day. A couple of nights we ate in the restaurant and again the food and service were first class.
The courtesy bus runs to and from Funchal and there are plenty of taxis in town which are reasonable.
It was our first trip to Madeira and Qunita Jardins Do Lago and we would certainly recommend it as Madeira is beautiful and the hotel is exceptional in all aspects. All the staff in housekeeping, bar, restaurant, reception were very helpful and so friendly.

We chose Quinta Jardins do Lago mainly because of the garden and the beautiful building. The gardens are simply stunning, we took two hours studying the plants. The staff are lovely and helpful. We were surprised at dinner that there is no dress code as people were in jeans for fine dining.
Our room was nice, we had booked a Heritage suite, a bit outdated, but the balcony was so disappointing, just a slice of mountain/garden but mainly a wall of balconies on the adjacent building and another building on the other side so virtually no sun. The reason we booked a suite was for a view of the gardens. I think this needs to be much clearer on the website.
The hotel did us a lovely packed lunch for a hiking day which was not bad at €20 for both of us.
The hotel is very beautiful and feeding Colombos her breakfast was amazing.
(The hotel has a large hedge at the bottom of the garden blocking out the sea/Funchal view?)
All in all a stunning quiet hotel.

Where do you start. This is a beautiful hotel with stunning gardens. Big well furnished rooms with quality fittings and furniture. The pool area has plenty of shaded and unsealed areas. There are plenty of secluded areas to sit and relax both inside the hotel and around the gardens. The food is truly amazing and the service is impeccable. This is a must stay location if you visit the area. We have already booked for next year. Although the hotel is not in the main town there is a regular free mini bus that will drop you and collect you from town.

The hotel is a perfect place for couples and is well positioned to easily visit the many attractions Funchal has to offer.

We cant wait to return next year and meet all of the staff again as they are now friends.

From arrival to departure the staff at this hotel all go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and at home. The service in all departments is now excellent . The Dining room service with the appointment of Adriano the Maitre d has really completed the perfect jig saw. In our opinion this without a doubt is the best hotel in Funchal and we would never consider staying anywhere else

Beautiful hotel in a stunning situation with wonderful staff!

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this amazing hotel. The grounds are absolutely lovely, a mix of tropical garden and English country house garden.
The staff were universally excellent and the ambience and standard of rooms and public areas was beautiful.

The breakfasts were delicious and both the bar meals and dinner in the Beresford Restaurant were absolutely excellent, again accompanied by such great service.

Columbo the giant tortoise provided diversion and fun and swimming in the beautiful pool was a treat.

Thank you to everyone who made our stay so memorable.

This was our 12th visit to Quinta Jardins do Lago and it was just as good as the other eleven. The hotel itself is exceptionally pretty and comfortable but the staff are, without exception, superb. They are attentive and welcoming and treat the guests as individuals. After our first visit we have never considered staying anywhere else in Madeira.
