Pros:

I love the remoteness of this resort, and I love the pools to cool off in. I know this sounds strange, but I love this resort in the intense heat of the summer. It makes the desert feel like a unique experience.

I wouldn’t come back.
Pros:

Building was really nice, the entire property was really nice

Cons:

No staff at night, we had problems in our room infested with crickets that wouldn’t let my kids and myself sleep we had to leave at 2 in the morning because there was nobody in property to help us. Not only that but we had to call several times to get our refund. Restaurant made us feel really uncomfortable just because we had our kids eating there everybody looked at us like weirdo’s. Maybe you should advertise is not kids friendly, beds were itchy and full of dust. Air conditioner never worked our room was at 82 temperature the whole time even tho we set it at 74, the fridge that came with the room was overheating. We killed over 10 crickets.

Lovely Room and beautiful location
Pros:

The king room over the pool was really lovely and spacious.

Cons:

The food at the restaurant was mediocre. I ordered an expensive ribeye steak that was only about a half inch thick (if that) and overcooked - will not be eating there again.

Summer Get Away to Get Away from it All
Pros:

Staff was friendly, even the maintenance personnel working around the property waved at me. Food was delicious in the dining room. I always love grabbing an adult beverage at the Fox Den bar.

Cons:

There was a plumbing issue that happened on both days I was there. But it did get resolved right away. I think it was more of an older building main plumbing issue. It did not affect my overall experience of staying there.

Dowager, aging poorly.
Pros:

With a melancholy heart, I have to recommend that travelers avoid this place unless it drops its rates by 50 percent or more to match its level of service.

Biggest complaint is there is no daily housekeeping, and that was not disclosed at any point in the booking or check-in process. I am paying what is supposed to be a discounted offseason rate (at what was once advertised as a AAA Four Damond resort); It is till a substantial rate.

I expect and receive routine housekeeping in random hotels that cost me well under $200 a night.

But my disappointment is broadbased.

The main swimming pool is missing tiles in various places around its uneven circumference. It happens. But should be cleaned up at a place that charges these rates.

There is no food and beverage service at the pool. Food and drink detritus are left to bake in the sun for hours and chairs and tables and towels are not cleared.

There there are no pool towels available outside. They must be requested at the front desk. When I asked for four today, on a warm sunny day at a desert resort, I was told I could only get two. Not because of a policy, which might have been irritating enough at an erstwhile fancy place, but because "We don't have enough pool towerls lately.

When I asked the person at the outdoor bar if my wife's hamburger could be delivered to us by the pool they chuckled and said, " We don't do that."

I suggested that surelt they did that during the high season. He said, " i think the pool is closed then."

Calls to the front desk are occasionally answered by a machine, even though the place hardly seems verwhelmed with business.

When I finally got through, two separate people told me I was just out of luck requesting housekeeping on Saturday afternoon after we returned and realized it had not been done.

After being told twice my entreaties simply could not be addressed, we got a late call and two housekeepers did show up and provide what should be expected. I am grateful for that,

But all the falderol should not be necessary for a place with aspirations.

On the plus side, our casita is nice We enjoyed above average massages today in the spartan spa. Myra lis highly recommended.

My melancholy is exacerbated by my tenuous, but long-term ties to this property. I know it has had some ups and downs. I had some confidence in the not-so-new investors.

We are all day-to-day, as the philosopher Pete Rose noted.

Always Awesome
Pros:

I have always loved staying at Casa del Zorro and the new improvements/renovations have made it even nicer! If you want a couple days of pure relaxation book it! Loved that the pool bar was open this trip! The grounds and my spa were well maintained and wonderful. Front desk staff are so helpful and will take care of any issues you might have, just ask! This trip was special because we saw the blue moon rise over the desert but there’s always the clear sky and desert breeze. Top it all off with a massage in the very nice spa and it’s a fantastic couple days.
