Divan Istanbul lives on the laurels of its past and is no longer worthy of the rank it holds.
Pros:

Room: clean and well kept throughout our stay, thanks to the housekeeping lady who looked after our room with genuine care and attention. That said, the tea bags were never replenished and, for a five-star hotel, I would have expected a coffee machine in the room.
Positive notes: the bell desk attendant and the housekeeping lady — both consistently kind, warm and attentive to us and our dog. They were the only two people who showed the level of service one would expect at this address.

Cons:

The main problem: I had to argue three times over two days with the front desk about the terms of my booking, which already included the pet stay fee. They insisted on charging me again, and only after confirmation from their own reservation desk did they finally acknowledge I was right. Having to defend the terms of a confirmed booking is unacceptable.
Pool: closed for our entire four-night stay with no explanation. No staff member could tell us why or when it would reopen. We had booked specifically counting on the indoor pool for the hot summer days.
Spa: frankly shameful service. 95 euros for a 30-minute hammam, without even the offer of a çay at the end of the treatment — a basic gesture of hospitality in Turkey — yet with an additional 500 TL service charge on top.
Guests with pets: no indoor F&B area accepted our small poodle (curious, considering cats roam freely everywhere). When we sat in the garden for breakfast, the staff were rude enough to ask whether we were actually hotel guests.
