We stayed six nights in what the hotel calls a premium sea-view room, at roughly €3,500 for the stay. To be clear up front: the money is not the complaint. We are happy to pay that for a proper high-end Mediterranean resort. The issue is that this hotel lands consistently just short of the level its pricing implies — not dramatically, but noticeably, and in almost every area.
The room. The view is genuinely excellent and the balcony is a real asset. Housekeeping, however, was “almost clean” rather than clean: dust in corners, bathroom edges and fittings that had clearly been wiped rather than cleaned, The shower had mold patches. The shower drain had a foul smell coming from it (this was addressed but not completely resolved). At a mid-market beach hotel you shrug at this. At this rate you notice it every day when you get back to the room in the evening.
Pool and beach — a real weak point. The outdoor pool is simply too small for a hotel of this size. By nine in the morning every lounger around it had been claimed. The beach is dominated by the Mistral beach club, where a bed costs a small fortune; the free of cost section left for hotel guests is small and poorly managed. Most loungers are occupied by non-hotel guests, loungers are not properly set up. For a property that sells itself as a seafront resort, being unable to sit down by the pool without either queueing at dawn or hoping that there are empty loungers by the sea, or having to pay club rates is a fundamental shortcoming, not a detail.
The spa. Presented as a signature feature, but the circuit is extremely limited — once you have done it, there is little reason to return, which matters over six nights. More than once the relaxation area was occupied by guests sleeping off the previous night or simply hanging around, with nobody managing the space. At this price point a spa should be supervised and quiet; that is most of what you are paying for.
Location. Obviously not a surprise, but still a downside, it is too far from the old town to walk comfortably, so every trip means a taxi or the shuttle. Workable, but it makes the hotel feel more isolated than the marketing suggests. The newly developed sea front area Znjan beach is nice and well within walking distance.
The bar. Service and setting are both good — no complaints there. The food and drinks however, are (again) way over priced, for what you are getting.
What works. The breakfast is genuinely excellent — wide choice, well executed, easily the highlight of the stay. Staff were consistently friendly throughout. The buffet restaurant for your standard diner is also excellent - highly recommended. We did not eat at Triton.
Verdict. At a mid-market rate I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. At the rate actually charged it competes with polished resorts in Mallorca, Marbella and comparable destinations, and against that benchmark it does not hold up. That is where we will be going next time.
